the TT-01's gotta be my favourite R/C chassis. Its just so versitile! it is classed as an on road chassis but it's extremely capable off road out of the box! I got a Lancia Delta XB TT01 and I took it across the road for some off road fun and it's a beast. good video 5/5 ;)
awesome video mate! loving the cossie and the prodigy, ive bought a escort cossie xbs tt01, and when i took it off-road all it did was spin the wheels because it is too low, do you know how i can get better ground clearance?
There are some on ebay and shops but prices have bumped up. I got mine with the chassis kit for less than £50 GBP new, but now, the shells alone are going for more than that. Hope you get a cheap one!
It was changed to a Tamiya RS-540 Sport Tuned Motor - item 53068. The real difference is in the gearing, the spur gear was changed from 19 tooth to 23 tooth :-)
19T is a 'shorter' gear so it equals better acceleration but a lower top speed. The max gear ratio available is a 25T pinion with an 55T spur gear. This equals the highest top speed. I've never bothered to try it. That car had 23/58 - a good balance I think.
The packet has a chart on it to show which gear combos will mesh.
thanks for the fast reply. Whats the standard Spur Gear on this chassis? 58? Ive just dug my old Model out which is currently stock, with a Pinion 21T, no idea with the spur gear. Also using a unbranded (no idea on power rating) motor, so thinking of getting the RS540.
Does your car have digital speed control or the standard servo moving a speed controller resister?
I think standard spur gear is 61T. Upgrade gear kits by tamiya are 22/23T Pinions, 24/25T Pinions and 55/58T Spurs.
Sounds like you have the standard Tamiya 540 silver can motor. The RS540 is a good hop-up, that isn't too demanding on a basic Electronic Speed Controller (ESC).
This car was using a Tamiya ESC TEU-101BK
(Item #45029).
I wouldn't use a manual speed controller, they're bulky, overheat and leave the throttle open if you lose reception :-)
I always use ebay! Just type in what you did - 1/10 wheels or 1/10 body - it's a winner. HPI and Yokomo do some nice wheels. For the price, Tamiya bodies are the best, think of a car then google/ebay search for it. Hope that's helpful, it's what I have done and will do :-)
Hi, you can get alloy parts from a company called GPM - find sellers on ebay. Tamiya do an Escort body shell, again, try looking on ebay. I hope that helps :-)
thats awsome! looks like you have lots of skill. can you teel me if you have an undercover for it? if you do, can you tell me how to make one or where to buy one?
A Lot of skill? Cheers ha ha. This was stigdriver and me messing around.
I didn't use an innerbody/inner cover, BUT, you can get inner bodies for the Tamiya TB-01. They attach by velcro at the sides to help keep dirt out. They are intended partly to mount the driver and co-driver for rally models.
I haven't found inner bodies for the TT-01 yet, u could use plasticard from hobby shops or just use a plastic bag and tape :-)
Try looking for TA-01 and TG-10 parts which could be modified?

I have the same model.. But it seems you have changed the moteur?
roadrunner206 4 years ago
Yes, I have fitted a Tamiya RS540 Sport Tuned Motor (23 Turn)- 53068.
This can be powered by the standard TEU101BK Electronic Speed Controller.
Apart from that, all I have done is add metal bearings and lengthen the gearing (23Tooth pinion gear) for a higher top speed.
Oh, and I have a few alloy upgrades on it like a motor heat sink and prop shaft.
This is just the beginning of what you can do to these cars, Have fun!
