  • are you a pratesional

  • @lolbarbie100 do you mean professional? no =)

  • Blue is my favorite color and you're my favorite water marbleizer/nail stylist

  • They need to be new nail polish and its works better and I like your nail polish (:

  • my favorite...! (:

  • I love this. I'll definitly do this once I've grown my nails out a bit. :P

  • Hi, I've got problems with the nail polish, Well mine dries quickly so whenever the first drop is in, the second drop of nail polish doesn't spread out because the first one has already dried. :( i tried changing brands, but i dunno :/ it's the same.

  • @sisiwbabes every polish dries at a different speed & those that dry fast just aren't very good for marbling - if you can't work any quicker then you have to find colors that dry slower =) Also make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster

  • how time does it take nails to dry?

  • @shpeksyy It’s mostly dry within a few minutes, then I use a quick-drying top coat =)

  • Oky this maybe a silly question but do you use anything on your nail before dpping it in the water to make it stay, and just the nail itself? Im super dying to do this.

  • @SiNNyNicole I always recommend a base coat as well as a base color =)

  • This is so awesome! I have never heard of this or tried this before! It's amazing!

  • So not every nail polish works with the water, and other polishes?

  • @Rachrocks7790 correct - there's no real way to tell beforehand, it's all trial & error to find the colors that work best & work together =)

  • How do you keep the surface of your water clean? Mine gets little flakes in the water between each dip. BTW, your videos are awesome and I love them!

  • @tjandbeth311 I clean up as much as I can, if there is still residue I'll take one drop of polish over the whole surface, let it dry & pull up the whole piece, it will grab any tiny bits also =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues Thanks for the quick reply! I've done 2 water marbles so far and they've turned out pretty good. Practice makes perfect! If nothing else I can just pour out the water and start over!

  • I cannot seem to get this right. When I drop the polish in, it doesn't spread out like yours. The water seems to be right, not cold. And if it does spread, when I try to swirl it as soon as my toothpick makes contact with the polish it clumps up on the toothpick. Do u have any tips, like "make sure you..."?? I'm dying to do this, and it's extremely frustrating. It's so easy for you!!!

  • @wuteveryouwant are you using filtered water? other than that, it's just trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)

  • do sinful colors polishes work well for water marbling??

  • @iheartflowers8 you can use any brand of polish, but not every color works =)

  • OK, Do you remember when you got them?

  • @katyperrylover0802 probably at least 6 months ago =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasuers OK thanks i might have to get the polish and stuff and try this!?

  • where did you get these colors?

  • @katyperrylover0802 I don't remember, probably Sallys or Ulta since they're China Glaze =)

  • Do we use filtered water or tap wter?

  • @lollolyu room temperature filtered water

  • Wow can't wait to try this!!! You should do a Halloween one with orange, purple, and black I would love to see that since it's almost here :)

  • @EverestTheAscent I'll add those colors to my request list =)

  • I was wondering if you can help me with doing water marble. No matter what type of nail polish I use I can'tmarblized

  • @BlackAsianMs Are you using room temperature filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasures

    thanx:)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasures

by beachy i mean lots of blues and some turquoise colors:) thanks

  • @iheartflowers8 I will be doing the blue in the addicted to color series soon, and I may also do a teal or turquoise addicted to color =)

  • can u plz do another beachy water marble tutorial??? wat type of nail polish works best for water marbling??

  • @iheartflowers8 what do you mean by beachy? there's also the ocean waves design but with fall coming I am not too much in a beachy mode LOL. there really isn't a best brand, every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well – the colors I use are always listed in the information box. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)

  • ok thank you!:)

  • how long does it take for the water marble to dry on your nail?:)

  • @mharie13 It’s mostly dry within a few minutes, then I use a quick-drying top coat =)

  • is this for me or u havnt done it yet

  • @sweetashxx1 if it's colors you requested, it can be - if it's not what you had in mind then you need to be more specific =) I get a lot of requests for all color combinations so I rarely do anything for a single request

  • Do China Glaze Nail polishes dry quickly???

  • @danothemano01 some of them yes, others no - each color is different =)

  • These are gorgeous! I might have to give it a second try. My first was a total fail..:) you make it look easier to do, thanks!

  • What kinda vwater do you use ?

  • @viggabeip room temperature filtered water =)

  • Thank you for this one Colette!I was looking for exactly this look, didn't even need to request it!:)

  • Could you POSSIBLY make a blue and black water marble? :D

  • @MioMoonie I'll add it to my request list =)

  • Hope not da water ;; I need new poslish ; I use water from myy sink

  • @YuCraveTiny I always use room temperature filtered water from a Brita pitcher - most tap water is too hard & the polish will not spread as well. Bottled is also usually OK as long as there are no additives. You can check out my water comparison under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see the difference =)

  • I tryed it again ; my nail polishes didn't spread ; I use warm water ;; I wonder if its da water

  • @YuCraveTiny it could also be the polish - not every color works =)

  • I try dis on monday & my nail polish kept goin down it didn't spread at all ; do da water suppose 2 be cold? ; yu could use paper cups or any cups & bowls??

  • @YuCraveTiny some polish sinks because it’s too dense, other times it is from dripping it from too high up, try to stay close to the surface of the water =) I always use room temperature filtered water. You can use any container, but polish does spread better in a small container & stay away from styrofoam as polish can dissolve it

  • I love seeing your tutorials come to my inbox! Although I still have NOT mastered water marble, you're a great inspiration to trying it again and again until I do *smiles*!

    (◠‿◠) Kokofemme

  • This is soooooo pretty too !

  • I'm scared to try it

  • @jlfra89 why LOL? What's the worst that can happen - if you don't like it just get some polish remover =)

  • I think ur designs aré so cool can u give me some típs

  • @niala66846 I don't really have any special tips other than what I share in the vids - it just takes practice =) the more you do the better you'll get

  • The colors are really pretty:)

How does your polish expand? Do you put polish remover in the water?

  • @EmoCupcakesGoRAWR no - it's plain room temperature filtered water =)

  • Thank u on u valentine one I learnt how to do it in I tested which ones work and with don't I usen my mums coz none of mine really work

  • anything with blue kills me loved it!!

  • Hi. I need some help. Once I put 1 drop in the water, the next drop won't spread.

  • @justsallme sometimes even colors that each spread on their own don't work well together - you just have to keep trying different colors & different combinations =)

  • You're a pro Colette! :)

  • did any one else count the drops?

  • wat kind of nail polish are u using?and is it just a simple polish? no added something on that because i tried the marble nail art with my nail polish the polish doesn't spread out? wat should i do?

  • @preciouscadion the colors are all listed in the information box - it's normal polish, but not every color works & it's also important to use room temperature filtered water =)

  • Is it work with varnish marks OPI

PS : again sorry for English =)

  • @belgaportugaisa some of their colors, yes =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues I actually it works but the problem is that its always by the side and when it's normal and I madethe drawing from all varnished with the object

  • @belgaportugaisa are you using room temperature filtered water? also it seems to be easier in a small cup so if you're using a larger bowl I'd say find a smaller container =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues ok thank you I vai essailler with water filtered

  • when i tried doing mine, it created air bubbles, is there something i could do to prevent this from happening?

  • @11stefff My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)

  • I am completely floored...your nail art is sooooooo beautiful. I just recently started designing my own nails and I will try this on my own....This is so awesome!!!!

  • wow this is amazing!! :D

  • i have a question: do you recommend pure ice nail polishes for water marbling?

  • @sillypup12 I haven't tried any but you can’t tell just by brand - the only way to know for any specific color is to try it =)

  • i've done this 2 times and i fail everytime . ur video on short nails really helped me but i still am havin trouble getting my finger NOT to miss the design . i guess if i keep practicing ... i''ll get better . (yn) Thanks again .

  • I tried with glitter but it didn't work. Why?

  • @Bigcatlover15 not every color works =)

  • Can you do more than one nail at a time?? Like can i dip three fingers at once?

  • @thsauddl ... I dip 2 at a time in this vid & explain that I did the rest of the finger on the hand 3 at a time =)

  • how do u get the polish to spred like tht?it never works for me.

  • @fishnugget000 Are you using room temperature filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)

  • Oh! Have you any ideas for a peacock inspired design or water marble? I'm going to be one for Halloween and can't seem to make it work! Thanks for any advice!!

  • @tamarapaints check out my blue & green seaweed design, it's always reminded me of a peacock also & I've wanted to try a slightly different version but haven't gotten around to it yet =)

  • Very nice! I've been stumped as to what colors to try next, thanks for some inspiration as always! Your techniques and designs are great!!

  • I use China Glaze and it never spans out like that. It just drops in a solid blob drop. Any ideas? I don't want to thin out the whole bottle.

  • @cholakolove8 are you using filtered water? not every color works but if it's actually sinking it can be because it’s too dense, other times it is from dripping it from too high up, try to stay close to the surface of the water =)

  • You are a true artist.

  • where do u get orange sticks?

  • @100cherios They’re available most places that sell polish, usually stocked near the files & clippers =)

  • beautiful you are amazing

  • What polish brand works the best for water marbling?

  • @crazyfor80s1 There really isn't a best brand, every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well – the colors I use are always listed in the information box. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)

  • I'm using China glaze turned up turquoise and purple panic, room temp bottled water and the droplets aren't spreading at all, what am I doing wrong?

  • @Crzykttykt make sure the bottled water has no additives - other than that it coud be the temperature or the polish, not every color works

  • i did marbeling with tap water and filterd water and they did not work :(

  • @cutiepiemor it could be the temperature of the water - my room is fairly warm. Or it could be the poish - not all colors work

  • Very nice

  • this is so cool :)

  • Does it have to be filtered water?

  • @MsTbaby8 Most tap water is too hard & the polish will not spread as well – you can check out my water comparison under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see the difference =)

  • @oceanbeat16 Bye =P

  • @oceanbeat16 see ya...wouldnt wanna be ya! :P

  • @amberkim2010 What about plastic?

  • Do 1 on a spiderweb plz

  • @Mslittlexxdevil I did one last Halloween =)

  • @Mslittlexxdevil She did! ;D

It's called "Halloween Spider Web Water Marble Nail Art Tutorial"

     :)

  • Omg, I love this!

  • what tempeture is room temputure

  • @SecretsInTheShadows not hot, not cold - the same temperature as the room =)

  • AWESOME!! Cool name :-)

  • Note: The paper cup is a BIG deal. Glass and styrophome are no goes.

  • @amberkim2010 why?

  • @amberkim2010 Plastic is okay, too. And I have NO idea, but they just do not work as well at all. Styrophome gets holes in it from the polish after a while, too. Which is unfortunate.

  • do u put a clear coat afteR?

  • @mentosluvrnora yes, I always recommend a top coat =)

  • hi, i live in canada and we dont have a ulta or target. is there anywhere else that you can find china glaze nail polish??

  • @hahaha123lol1 it's also available at Sallys or online =)

  • @hahaha123lol1 Yes find a Sally's in ur area. Its my heaven on earth

  • hey um i just wanted to know how long it takes you to get your nails that long thanx and please answer btw love all your vids

  • @bethzaida1999 I pretty much maintain them long, but they grow abut 1mm/week =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues Thank you for replying =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues THANKS SOOO MUCH XD

  • Brilliant, love it!

  • i love this i got to go get the colors. were can i get the colors?

  • @oliviamancia1 they may still be available at Ulta or Sallys but if not you'd have to check online since this was China Glaze's spring collection =)

  • Oh pretty!!! And I have this collection too! I'll have to try this one out. :) Great job as always Colette. :)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasure thx sooo much!! xD and srry but i have one more questions can these designs work on short nails cuz i cant keep my nails long cuz i have to play piano :]

  • @FaithSTARlee if you have short nails you just get less of the design, so it's very important where you dip your nail - check out my short nails marble with my mom as hand model for some tips =)

  • I tried the water marble today and I think mines came out pretty decent. Its just hard to get those nice designs u do. But practice makes perfect. Love your work! :)

  • I was really excited about trying this but it has not worked out. My polish is drying to quickly and often it is not spreading I tried for hours to get this done. What may be the problem?

  • @lilacvoice are you using filtred water? also every polish dries at a different speed & those that dry fast just aren't very good for marbling - if you can't work any quicker then you have to find colors that dry slower =) Also make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster

  • @SimpleLittlePleasures oh thx x] and i have two more questions: my dotting tool has this one end that said it could be used for water marbling can i use that instead? And also can i use room temperature bottled water?

  • @FaithSTARlee anything with a fine point will work to draw the design =) I haven't tried bottled myself but it should be fine as long as there are no additives

  • when i try to draw my design using my toothpick, the entire pool of polish sticks to the stick. any solutions or steps that I did wrong?

  • @bifmy every polish dries at a different speed & those that dry fast just aren't very good for marbling - if you can't work any quicker then you have to find colors that dry slower =) Also make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues ah! I always sit in front of a fan. no wonder! thanks so much

  • OK, I finally got up the courage to try water marbling last night. I had a Dixie cup of room temperature filtered water, and I chose southwest colors: dark brown, coral, teal, peach, and a shimmery white. My polish would start out ok, but by the 4th or 5th drop, it refused to spread out anymore. Several times by the time I was ready to draw a design, it was completely dry and my toothpick just picked up all the polish! I was very quick with dropping the colors, so I guess I need to try again!

  • @dollcina Yes - if you can't find similar colors that dry slower, another option is to do the first few rings with a color you know dries slowly, then use the colors that you really want just in the center so they don't have as much time to dry =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues I tryed doing something, i had all the nail polishes i needed from the same brand, so when i put in the red put it didnt speard room tepreatrd water, but when i put the yellow it worked. Do u know what is the problem? Please replay!!

  • @Lpstigerproductions not every color works, and sometimes even colors that each spread on their own don't work well together - you just have to keep trying different colors & different combinations =)

  • @SimpleLittlePleasues Thank u!

  • i finally found nail polish that works. this shit is hard as hell.

props to you for being so good at it.

  • My polish won't even spread ! I use filtered room temperature water , and no matter what nail polish I use , it sticks together . When I poke my orange stick in , it turns dry :| Any tips ? .

  • @XxIHeartCupcakesxX every polish dries at a different speed & those that dry fast just aren't very good for marbling - if you can't work any quicker then you have to find colors that dry slower =) Also make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster

  • you're so good about answering questions so let me go ahead and ask: When I drag my stick through, the outermost ring always drags. I noticed that you kind of aimed your stick towards the third ring...is this to avoid the dragging? It's like the outer ring dries too much...what do you think?

  • @TiffanyTries sometimes the outer ring does dry faster than the others - I think I maybe subconciously start a little ways in, also when you dip your nail you rarely go all the way to the edge of the cup so the middle is where the design really needs to be best =)

  • idk what to say or how i feel right now cuz i cant breath because of how amazing that was....so im just gonna say apples.

  • hi amm I try to do the water marble but the paint nails is not expanded why ¿'

  • @mentalblender777 Are you using filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)

  • @karianne430 My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)

  • you can cover your finger around the nail with nail polish ! it equals easy clean-up & a lot less hassle then putting tape all around. :)

  • Very pretty! I'm hoping to see some "B roll" footage, or Bloopers someday so I don't feel so bad about all the mistakes I make when water-marbling. hehe

Thanks for explaining your blog a bit on this video. I always wondered why you mentioned it at the end of your videos and now that I know what's there, I'm likely to spend more time looking at your blog.

  • @Annabettin I do plan on doing a "fail" vid, I had some colors I was SURE would work together & it was a gigantic fail LOL. This weekend is turning out even busier than I thought though so not sure when I will get to it =)

  • did you know that you can use chapstix on your fingers instead of tape?

  • @medasst100 It's on my to-do list to do a comparison between taping & lotion or vaseline/chapstick etc, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Aside from the fact that it seems like it would be very messy, several viewers have told me that they can leave a residue in the water that makes it harder to do the next designs, which is why I've stuck with tape so far =)

  • my first water marbling attempt was ok I guess. I have to keep trying and as far as the taping technique... too difficult. I put a few drops of polish remover to room temp Tap water and it worked out ok... I think I should have waited a little longer for my base coat to dry before I dipped. and then, I sorta smudged it taking the tape off. (BTW, please don't be a dunce like me and tape both hands at the same time..LOL) I have an idea about a remedy for that.. will update later. Keep trying tho.♥

  • @simplelittlepleasures um do sally hansen nail polishes work too?

  • @FaithSTARlee You can use any brand of polish, but not every color works =)

  • So pretty! I love the blues and the hint of glitter - I fail at water marble too - but keep watching any ways in case I can pick up a useful technique or hint like how you do thumb and pointing finger at same time.

  • Awesome!!
