that's nonsense about Glen playing on NMTB, he played on Anarchy only. Steve played bass on all the other tracks except for Bodies which Sid Useless played on, including a cock up at the beginning of the second verse when he slides up one semitone too far.

Sid Vicious was the face. johnny rotten as the voice. Glen matlock was even essential. look up the interview with Bill Grundy. the pistols were exactly that. the music is angry, the drugs are hard, and life sucks.

Actually, it was Glen Matlock that played bass on the album. Matlock is credited as a co-author on 10 of the 12 songs on Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. He also continues to make his own records and tour with various bands, including the Sex Pistols.

That's the point, you should think about Johnny Rotten when thinking about the Sex Pistols. Sid joining was the end of the Pistols as a working band. He wasn't involved in songwriting, on records Steve Jones played the bass parts cos Sid wasn't able to, and on stage his amp was turned down.... and for me there's nothing to identify with. It's only about violence, boozing, heroin, smashing things, being brute and antisocial. The early face of Oi?

The fact that this video gets way fewer views than many of the other "Related" Pistols videos proves that viewers don't really care if their music is punk, just about their attitude. To dis the Queen or cry for anarchy is attitude up front. But this video is the Pistols doing classic punk (fast, frantic and rude) on a classic theme ("I'm a problem, so there"), and the guitar solo is far wilder and better than on the LP or in the other videos. This is the one that proves they were for real.
