If I am able to die having made that many people happy and sad and cheer and cry, I will know that it was worth it. Up the Dubs! Thank you! You made a lot of my days better and bearable.
Yes, amongst other things it's a magnificient culture. Since I'm
part Irish, it strikes a familiar cord. It's in the blood. It's not just the songs, it's the stories, the History and the People. Although I've never been to Ireland, upon seeing pictures of the Bower, it is almost as if I've been there before. It is our dream to visit one day. It was prayers and a promise to the Blessed Virgin that saved my family. We'll be at Mass on Knock Hill. I'll be climbing Pro Patrick at Dawn -- barefoot.
@SuperPaulrose I know that your comment is old, but I saw it and I couldn't agree more. A friend of mine and myself had a bit of a row yesterday over this matter. She said that the words of the music "don't matter" and that people shouldn't read too deeply into songs. The history don't matter, basically. You could say that I was disgusted, yeh? Ah well. Well said, man.

Ronnies voice IS trad. Irish music period!

I'll have an argument here; however, even though John McCormack was Ireland's shinning star, it's Ronnie that grabs the Irish soul in song.

its the irish culture and our ways that songs grab us,if it wasnt for our music the brits would own us,the music is the irish strong point

Have you seen any recent pictures of Ronnie lately? He has no beard or hair, it doesn't even look like him. It's sad.

No I haven't, but I heard about his chemo therapy.
Its a shame, I hope he will get to sing again after this is over.
I heard he did a recent interview on REI or something, have you got a link to that?

I have a link but I can't put into a comment (stupid Youtube commenting policy)

If you spell out the letters dot com instead of pasting the link it might go through.
