I was wintertime backpacking in Colorado in about 1974 and a family from Austria gave my friend and I a ride by Vail. They were from Iowa and the young lady was trying to talk her mother into giving us a ride farther. I wish I had gotten her contact information. I have traveled all over the U.S. but not been to Iowa yet that I know of.
@gidgetgoo37 A better term to use is "Boring" Sucks really doesn't apply. Now one can say NYC Sucks and they'd be correct, L.A. correct again, Baltimore right again. But not Decorah. I too was born in Decorah, Moved away in grade school and didn't return until after retiring. Have lived around the U.S. and the world. I find summers delightful for the most part. Could do without the harsh winter though. Why did I return? Because family needed me here, so I am.
