Comparing SGU to the previous shows is meaningless. SGU is different, that doesn't mean it's bad. None of the cliffhangers are even remotely predictable so far while in SG1 there is always a solution to any problem: new inventions from Carter, Ancient artifacts like the Sangraal . While they are indeed very fun to watch, I don't see why people should hate SGU. Season 2 is a lot better than season 1 and if you would kindly watch it instead of criticizing it, you can enjoy it.
