  • npire cas is better

  • @Noleasestoimbecil Nope, TI calculators are primarily designed for education, and they use algebaric input. RPN is much faster.

  • @MrAce1500 seriously believe it?, just try it in software version is better than hp50g

  • @Noleasestoimbecil I think in eyecandy and easy of use, TI is ahead of HP of course. In fact I really feel like hp does not care anymore about the calculators, for TI is a very important part of their company.

I just tried both and HP seemed to me like a lot more professional (and difficult) to use, but probably it is just matter of being a 'fan' of a device you love to use.

  • @eried the day to release the nspire, there will be no doubt that Texas will be the best

  • @eried Functionally, the 50g is almost identical to the '93 vintage 48gx & '90 vintage 48sx. It runs on an ARM instead of Saturn processor. But the ARM is just running a Saturn hardware emulator in software. So it's about 3x faster than the 48gx, but eats batteries like they were going out of style. I change the batteries in my 48gx every few months. I've seen mailing lists posts from 50g owners complaining that the 49g+ & 50g couldn't make it through a single exam on a set of batteries.

  • @sbergman27 You're right about the emulation but not about the power. Four rechargable AAA last 4-6 months in my 50g (now 1 year with low usage), early 'faulty' roms can make the hp to use more battery

  • @eried It must have been one hell of a ROM bug. What's the milliamp draw of the 50g at idle and while running a processor intensive program?

  • @sbergman27 Never tested that. First releases were very buggy, I remember my 49g+ menu constantly flickering and not using all the screen because the cpu-emulation.

  • @eried I found this interesting table:

    tinyurlDOTcom/886qlsf

50g current consumption seems to be about 3x the 48gx's for idle and busy processor. I guess 4+ yrs after the fact, it's a little late. But someone should tell the tester that the backup batteries in his cards are bad. Current consumption is zero ( < 0.005ma) with the unit off if the card batteries are good.

  • awesome music!

  • @toyracers :) it is the only way in this model

  • thanks Mozart

  • Is this calculator better than the TI-89?

  • @ToxicOdiousOne of course

  • @eried Can you explain why it is better? thnx.

  • @eried

    why is it better?

  • So the calculator produces sounds?

  • Dude you just voided your warranty. What circutry did you change? Obviously you didn't add color.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne The internal buzzer was broken

  • which calculator should I buy? TI Voyage 200 or HP 50G

because TI is much more expensive, but Is it better?

  • @entucasaoenlamia voyage has a 12mhz motorola cpu whereas hp has a 75 mhz arm cpu.....now do the math

  • resolved the issue!

    Press MODE Key.

    Press F1 Softkey [FLAGS]

    You should see system flags

Use the arrow key to move down to "105". Your calculator probably will show "Exact mode on".

Press F3 Softkey [CHK], it will change to "Approx. mode on"

    Press F6 Softkey [OK]

    Press [ENTER] to exit mode

  • @Veloceptor

Press and hold orange shift, then ENTER to quickly swap that mode. Press and release orange, then ENTER to convert only one expression to decimal without changing the calc mode

  • why do I get a fraction output on my hp50g? Just got it so I am not so familiar however say i enter 700/60 it answers a fraction of 35/3 . Okay thats equates to 11.6.

How do I set it up so I get the 11.6 and not the fraction? arghhhhh

  • @Veloceptor Disable "Aprox" in MODES. Also you can seek for ->Q function in the catalog (CAT)

  • Hey dude do you know where can I find the principal manual? I can understand many things about this calculator!!

    Thanks any way!1

  • @alberUS07 hp webpage

  • ???

  • Excellent video. If I ever need to open my HP-50g, now I know how to do it. I like the musical background, very apropos. I also liked the fast forward sections through less important material. good work man (or girl, as I don't know your gender).

  • Male. Thanks

  • Hello, any idea where I can get another case? I accidentally dropped mine and the scratches are driving me up a wall!

  • I think the only chance is from a broken one

  • After all that, we barely got a glimpse of the inside? Wha' Hoppened?

  • This video is just about opening the HP50g

  • Voido the warrantee-o?

  • hahaha nahh

  • Nerds de calculadoras LOL

  • Uaaaal esse video mudou minha vida ¬¬"

  • hoooly moses, thats a very fine calculator. Were can I travle to find one of these??

I have only a Bi78 wich :( Just got 500 dollars that I'm ready to spend on a nice calculator like yours.

  • You can probably find a new and unopened one on eBay for less than $100. That's what I did. Bargain! : )

  • That was scary to watch...

Love my g50, make's me fast

  • awsome calculator. I just bought one, and found it to be much easier to use, and much more powerful than the ti-89, plus its cheaper!

  • I'n a Texas Instruments and a CASIO person for my graphing calculator needs. Even though the Hp-49 series is more powerful than the Ti-89 Titanium Hp calculators are very complicated and sometimes slow at easy problems.

  • i had a Ti-83 when i tried an Hp it was so easy to use even without an manual!!

Everything you can do is almost directly in screen.

Just my opinion. Ti just needs lots of experience.

  • Kraftwerk " Pocket Calculator" 1981

    check it out

  • lol i was singin this song before i read your comment

  • whoa

  • and how much it cost?

  • Nearly $130 USD

  • my old boss had the HP48GX (i think it was HP48) and that thing was awesome! i liked the fact that it had a clock on it as well, nice feature. Plus is was so different than what people were used to in my school so punks didn't erase my games i had on it!

  • Hahaha, sure, that model was very hard to use & learn. Modern models are a bit easier, but just a little bit

  • Does anyone have any clue why HP Calculators are that popular in spanish speaking countries but are almoust unknown in Europe or USA?

  • What brand is popular in Europe/USA? TI?

  • TI and Casio

  • I don't know, but for sure the HP-50g is a lot powerful than the TI-89 Titanium, however, TI's ones are ultra easy to learn and use

  • It's the way basic computational math is taught in the respective countries. RPN calculations are worked from the inside out. However, with american calculators or should I say TI calculators calculations are done in parts.. with RPN you compute and run one continous calculation not worrying if the calculator can understand your the string you just entered.

  • es buena o hay de mejores?

it's good or there are best?

  • Nice video and nice calculator but the quality of the HP50g is not as good as it was in the HP48 series (the HP50g is a lot faster, though). Fortunately it seems that HP is back with the new HP35s.

  • omg you added this video on my birthday xDDD

  • Lol..
