  • My point is that pinyin was supposedly created to make the foreigners learn the language more easily.I think most people believe that it has had the opposite effect.Mandarin is the ONLY asian language whose transliteration is so far from the english phonetic, that it is ridiculous.Cantonese and Japanese use the roman alphabet as well, and each letter is almost identical to the way it is used in the western world. So there is no excuse for pinyin to be used.In my opinion,it is COMPLETE trash

  • cont.. Why have X,if SH already exists? Why use Z to pronounce the "ds" sound in weeds, and not just write DS? Why use ZH, for a "J" sound, when you already have a " J".Besides,ZH is pronounced very differently in english and again adds to the confusion."r" is nothing like in english, and more like the last part of the words "pleasure' or "measure". The vowels are misleading as well. Why is "i" pronounced more like "u" and not i? Why is "e" pronounced like short "a"?

  • I like your teaching style. It's very good and engaging. However,I never understood why the pinyin system has not been scrapped yet. It's totally useless, and only serves to slow down one's progress.Especially if the person's first language is English. If one is going to use the roman alphabet, then it should mimic the sound of the letters at least. CH should be enough to cover for Q. Which is NEVER pronounced that way in english.Having both just adds to the confusion.

  • Is Chinese has subject, object, and verb mix up? Like I say I eat bread but in Japanese they say I bread eat subject, object, and verb.

Does Chinese is that way or like in English?
