O, I wish disney would do every box of the(diamond editions) like the pinocchio blu-ray box/cover art. Words can't express how that box looks. I just wish mermaid would look as good as it does. It is a hellfire of an artwork. Someone took some dedication and time on that one, you can just tell.
What on earth is DisneyView? I'm bound to DVDs and not keen on switching over to Blu-ray all to soon (too expensive), so is DisneyView only for Blu-Ray? Does it turn the "black bars" into still pictures or part of the movie?
I hate to say this but the one thing I very disappointed with the Pinocchio Platinum DVD is that the company itself did NOT INCLUDED these titles in the Bonus Features:
1. Figaro And Cleo (1943)
2. Bath Day (1946)
3. Figaro And Frankie (1947)
These classic Disney shorts could've been bonus cartoons :(
I know it's not a big deal but I believe the DVD would've been PERFECT if only the Disney company released the shorts as a special treat. (Sigh) I wish Walt Disney was here...... :(
That would've made them pretty epic! But it's still better than the last Pinocchio DVD that actually had the art on the disc listed as a "special feature" XD
Just watched the new Blu-ray. It's fantastic! The transfer's good, and the film itself, pure nostalgia. Someone's gottat upload the new Snow White trailer, 'cause that's pretty good, too!
Unfortunatly not for some time. Disney has lined up the next several titles to be released over the next 3-4 years, and The Little Mermaid was not there. It will come to Blu-Ray but no sooner than 2013-2014
what? no blu ray for the Little Mermaid yet?well i think i'll keep watching the dvd upscaled to fullHD XD...hurry up disney! paramount pictures is making everything blu ray in a snap and you're taking so long!!
In a way(i dont know if i am making any sense though) but if the movies are too restored lookin, they loose that old feal to them. Like mermaid. Now that it is hd restored, it has lost that underwater feal to it. Does that make sense? I mean the colors just arent the same. But.....
Disney never uses restored footage for their trailers. Yes, this trailer probally uses clips fropm the 203 PAL DVD, But Expect the Blu-Ray restoration to be restored beyond any version of 'Pinocchio' released ever before.
All I have is sleeping beauty so far....Here is hoping mermaid will not be a long time for disney to put out on the blue....also fantasia, and the controversal song of the south.
I love the Disney platinum editions, I collect them all!
but I noticed something, this DVD is going to be released in early 09, and it says 40'th anniversary, but it came out in 1940, it's not a problem I just wonder why.
that's what is says on the dvd not saying that you aren't right for i know that it was released in 1940 as well myabe their doing the anniversery to when the production for pinochio began I really don't know lol.
Sleeping Beauty had the dvd in with the blu-ray. Pinocchio will probably be the same. Do yourself a favor and get the blu ray when it comes with the dvd, difference is night and day.
I would look forward to get the DVD. I have the VHS from 1992, but I can't wait to get it on DVD next year. I remember my parents took me to the movies since I was just an infant when I saw the first Disney film ever "Pinocchio" when it was reissued back in 1978 along with a short "The Small One". That brings back memories. I would have a chance to watch these two films bringing back so many memories.
Disney never uses the restored aspect ratio, or any real restored footage in their trailers. Please understand just how much care, time, respect, and accuracy go into these restorations.
This trailer was rendered in a 16:9 ratio, with Pinocchio's original 4:3 ratio. So the picture had to be pillar-boxed (rendered with black bars on the side of the picture).
Then, when the widescreen trailer was uploaded by MikeDV101, it must have not had the correct picture settings (which resulted in this stretched-picture look).

Snow White was released 8 years ago, and is set for OCt. Same thing with Beauty and the Beast in 2010. I'm guessing 2016.

Hmmm. Looks like they're using the same transfer from the 2003 PAL DVD. The colors look a little too blue-tinted.

The restoration looks AWESOME!!! I can't believe they can make the film look this good and sound this good from 1940. Crazy!! Great Film though

Yes I know what you mean. It amazes me also in what they can do to an old grainy movie from way back when and make it look like it was made today.
