@ejeff87 I have written a lot of my own (proprietary) software to do the specialized star trail compositing, so a tutorial on that part wouldn't help much. On the other hand, timelapse of stars and night sky is fairly straightforward; you just need a camera that will do long exposure and automatically take one image after the other. You can use an ap like "photolapse" to make the still images into video clips. Not exactly a tutorial, but might help get you started... :-)

@skeli26 It's a complex process I developed myself, the details of which are a bit of a trade secret. Basically you have to "add" the individual still images together, one at a time, and then make those composited images into video clips... It takes lots of time and effort, but usually worth it! =) Thanks for checking it out!

@Theokondak I developed the methods I'm using myself, using 5 different programs (some self-written)... it's a bit complex and messy, and it's LOTS of work. I'm not quite ready to release my software and techiques to the world just yet, but I CAN tell you that the idea is to "add" the images together, like one would do using the "stack" feature in photoshop. Another effect, called "video echo" will also produce a similar result, if you have such an effect in your renderer. Cheers! =)

There is a bit of info in the video details, but basically most of these sequences are just simple long exposure frames (4-6 seconds per frame, ISO2000 - 4000, f4.0) shot with Canon 5D Mk2 and Nikin D5100 DSLR cameras. The tral effect is made using a proprietary compositing technique I developed myself, using only the original images themselves. Glad you enjoyed the show! =)

it turns indigo first homie, the sky....it turns indigo before it turns dark dark dark blue black. and the darkness, it's like a reverse glow that grows in an arc from one side to the other.

I found that interesting, too :-) After a visit to a local FAA ATC (Air Traffic Control) center some years back, I learned that the controllers direct the planes to fly VERY specific routes - like invisible three-dimensional highways in the sky! I guess it's pretty important to prevent them from crashing into each other! XD Thanks for stopping by =)
