If We Hadn't Bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki the war would have gone on through the 1950's and the japenese would have more time to make a accurate nuke and nuke us.We would fight back with our nukes and it would not take much time for Russia or rather the soviet Union to choose a side.this would create (Most Likely) create an All-Out Nuclear War

Through the 50s? We had an invasion all set and ready. The reason we dropped the atomic bombs WAS in fact to end the war but becuase we were expecting 100,000 + casualties for the invasion. I don't know what history you've been studying but once Germany went down and we put full force on Japan they never stood a chance.

I'd like to make a non-dumb comment on your comment about the Hiroshima bombings. While I agree that the bombings were in themselves unequal in terms of loss of life, consider the fact that, America had two options at that point in the war - drop the bombs, or launch a land invasion of Japan. We chose bombs, and ~220k civilians were killed. But how many more would've died if America had invaded Japan? Casualties were astronomical on small islands, what would they be fighting on home turf?

while i agree that it's unfortunate that America felt obligated to drop two atomic bombs on the sovereign nation of Japan, the point could be made that without the decisive actions of the U.S., the war would have been greatly prolonged resulting in a more numerous amount of casualties for both sides. Perhaps it wasn't the best decision, but the war ended.

Japanese civilians didn't deserve the atomic bombs but it was better than the alternative (for both countries). The Japanese government demonized the Americans so much that parents were jumping off cliffs holding their babies to prevent being captured by American soldiers.

To play devil's advocate about the damage modifiers for Fallout difficulty, that info was probably available for the general game, not just for Point Lookout. So you probably could have checked it out earlier.

That being said, the guy sounds like a total douche. I don't automatically surf on over to gamefaqs to ruin my first experience for a new game.

The damage modifiers were for the enemies of point lookout not the difficulty of the game. The information was not available until around 11am the day it came out.

Yea, what he said. It's usually expected that there are damage and health modifiers when changing the difficulty. The enemies themselves had special modifiers of their own.

The enemies in Point Lookout are NOTHING like any enemy in the game. There's a difference you can tell immediately.

On very hard, killing those tribals with a double barreled shotgun took like 5+ shots to the head. Once I left, regular enemies in the wasteland took 1, maybe 2-3 max. Most people wouldn't have known that information, definitely not at 5 AM when they just bought it.
