  • I think you would benefit from moving, reloading and transitioning but always keeping your eyes on target. Looking away for a second while standing just defeats the point of training for a real situation. Know your gear and reload with the weapon slung, eyes forward. Who cares how fast you can do it improperly.

  • I like this video, if for no other reason than it isn't someone dressed in tacti-cool layout, but someone in every day clothes with a rifle that they may need in case of emergency. Props to you.

  • Now try and do that whilst in contact, not in the office!

  • Thanks! I didn't know about the E-mags and will check them out soon.

  • I'm gathering from your video that the metal M-16 magazines work well for quick changes. I have bought six 30 round p- mags and they don't drop out like that at all. Any input on the performance of the metal mags such as jams/mis-feeds?

  • @Thiscatsgotclaws They are just standard issue GI mags... Like you said they do drop free nicely, but they are nothing compared to P-Mags as far as reliability and proper functioning are concerned.

  • @Thiscatsgotclaws P-mags are designed exclusively for AR-15 rifles. Rifles with different magwells will have trouble with them. They make E-mags, which are basically P-mags that fit into normal rifle magwells.

  • I like how there are people saying "try that under combat stress" , i guess you shouldn't post a vid unless you're in a real gunfight. He's just practicing his reloads. If your time is worth so much that this was a waste of it, why waste more time posting a comment?

  • Great video, good fast mag changes, and thanks for posting this. It helped me decide to go ahead and get an SU-16CA even though I live in Washington state, because I like how you made use of the spare mag space in the stock. And of course don't listen to the turds who get on here and posts critiques, any time you deal with the general public you're going to have to deal with the riffraff. In this case it's e-riffraff, little 16 yr old airsoft geeks w/ no experience at anything but jerking off.

  • @onetaothree Haha... thank you! Have fun with your SU, you will love it!

  • @onetaothree nothing wrong with being an expert at jacking off!!!i love airsoft though, so fun! :)

  • god what a waste of time.... bad video! don't like it

  • @Wiggling sorry man

  • Oh boy all of the CoD kiddies are out in force. Stupid questions like can you do it while someone is shooting at you? That is what muscle memory is for geniuses. You are either going to run or fight. Your training will kick in on its own.

  • @Warpath2198 While i was going to my firefighter 1 academy, my head instructor said something along the same lines. He said "When the pressure is on, you do not rise to the occasion; instead you default to your level of training." Practice, practice, practice...

  • i like how everyone feels the need to critique you here... lol i wonder if california requires a bullet button for this thing even if it does not have a pistol grip.....

  • @bigbizable Nope it does not need to have the bullet button in CA which is what makes it a much more practical firearm than an AR here..

  • KEL TEC FTW

  • try not looking and you wpn always look to the front

  • Just for the record, I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate STANAG magazines. Seriously. Razor-thin feed lips, flimsy aluminum body, a follower that tilts more often than an oversensitive pinball machine, a wimpy spring that wears out faster than a 5 cent condom, and to top it all off, they're not reliable when loaded with 30 rounds. Thank god for Magpul!

  • @MrHongKongBuffet yeah magpuls are awesome but there are better quality stanag magazines out there - i went to Slovenia to train with their troops a couple years ago and they were using stanag mags with their fs2000's that were twice as heavy than our magazines - just better quality

  • @bigbizable

I've fondled these. Unlike typical STANAG magazines which are made of recycled beer cans and fail, these better mags are made of steel. Whether or not they're better than Magpuls is purely subjective, but both designs are superior to typical STANAG crap. The STANAG 30-rounder is a serious contender for worse magazine used by a modern firearm and is probably responsible for about half of the claims of poor reliability of most NATO weapons.

  • @MrHongKongBuffet yes for sure - no matter how good the steel they still have the cheap followers... magpul pmags are all the way superior

  • @bigbizable

    Agreed.

  • i guess putting a round in the chamber isnt important

  • @Racketeerof89 nope, the SU-16 features an automatic first round loading system negating the need to ever cycle the bolt

  • wow i say faster than most

  • What I do in competition applications is count my shots. One left...reload...no need to cycle the bolt cuts your time way down.

  • I...just wasted my time.

  • @elitesof You... just wasted mine. Call it even.

  • @darthvader906

It didn't (/shouldn't) take you 20 seconds to read one comment.

  • @darthvader906 damn you are fast with that mag. i was wondering are those very accurate

  • I noticed that when you switched the coupled mag, you dropped it and then caught it in midair... probably not the best idea. Thanks for the video and your mad skills.

  • I am going to a gun show this weekend, and am coming back with a Saiga 223 or Kel Tec su16, the Saiga is

cheaper, but I like the SU16 better, Which one should I buy?

  • the bolt does lock back after the last round leaves the magazine. then all you have to do is either pull back the charging hanlde or tap the end of the butt stock to chamber the next magazine. Its pretty simple and easy to get the hang of after a few minutes of practice.

  • Please, I reload like that all the time in call of duty.

  • Good speed and precision , but you better practice charging the weapon too or your ass is gonna get shot !

  • That SU looks good with that ForeGrip .

  • F Fast hommie. im impressed.

  • and is the mag release ambidextrous or do you have to midify it to be ambidextrous? (i'm a lefty)

  • i might get 1 of these and i was wondering, if the bolt does lock back after firing the last round, how does the bolt catch and release work?

  • yeah that was fast but can you do it with someone shooting at you?

  • not trying to cut you down... but try it with fully loaded magazines... they require much more force to seat properly in the mag well...

  • That's a neat trick, but doesn't the bolt lock back when the last round is fired on this rifle? So unless you have 3 arms or a trained monkey assistant you still have to charge a round. I do appreciate your efforts though, it was fun to watch.

  • @scubaguy007 Yeah, i realize the bolt would need to be charged... i was mostly just trying to see how quick i could get the mags in the well

  • @darthvader906 You did good dude! You also made look differently at Pmags for my keltec. Maybe aluminum surplus are the way to go. Happy shooting, shalom and may the force be with you!

  • @darthvader906 Actually, a good tip I learned. If you have 30 rounds in each mag, when you fire try your best to count 29rounds. When you hit 29 drop the mag and reload. No need to charge the bolt since there will already be a round in the chamber.

  • @darthvader906

Neat skill I'd say, would a tactical reload solve that problem? Assuming you can keep track of the rounds?

  • @darthvader906 You can leave one round in the chamber while switching mags, that way you don't have to release the bolt because it's already charged, you can start firing right away. That's what I do.

  • SU-16 is interesting weapon .. it like some kind of WWIII weapon

  • @ww2footage ya, they are pretty unique guns. I love mine!

  • @darthvader906 how's it treating you thus far? accuracy/reliability/durability? i may be picking one up soon...

  • @ww2footage the su 16 is like a blend of an m14 and a ruger mini 14

  • @ww2footage i hope i dont have to use the one i get for WW3, but i can see that it will make it through the fight.

  • ahahah does the CA in SU-16CA mean CA legal?

  • @goodnightChesty1775 According to Kel-Tec no... it's supposed to be a combination of the A model and the C model hence CA (why's it not AC then? dunno lol)

  • @darthvader906 yeah cause it would make perfect sence. no pistol grip means detachable mags right? because some how its less deadly.

  • @darthvader906 my thought is that it is kinda like a "class c - subclass a" type of deal, but it is funny that it ended up "CA" just like the state.

  • What does your shirt say?

  • @catching45 "There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't." :) i know, i'm a dork

  • @darthvader906 hey where did you get the rails from on that thing?

  • Don't forget to cycle the action after each drop!

  • thATS GOOD BUT CAN U COCK IT BACK?

  • Pretty good. Just focus on keeping your eyes down the sight when reloading and not looking over to where the magazine are. Better than I can do.

  • You definitely have your act together. On the last round does the bolt stay open? Thanks,

  • Very nice. I want the charlie model of that gun.

  • Hey toolguy, you should stick the mag in and hit it or just push it in harder to seat it?

  • wow thats really cool... especially since in your drill- the SU16 chambers rounds by itself... which is a feature i was not aware it was capable of.... (sarcasm). you should incorporate that into your drill, maybe?? yea?? or are you able in a high pressure rapid fire situation, able to count rounds fired- always leaving one round at the end so you dont have to cycle it??

  • man, you definatly sound like a douche bag here. The guy has really quick reloads, and the hardest part of a reload is getting the mag in the well, which he is obveously doing good here. Lay off or post a video of you doing 5 reloads + cycles faster than this guy, and I'm sure me and this guy both will give you a pat on the back, and still tell you to stfu. Have a great day :)

  • #1 calling me a douchebag is inappropriate under any circumstances... im entitled to my opinion as much as anyone....

#2 in my original post i bracketed SARCASM... showing that i am/was mostly breaking balls...

#3 and i still stand by my statement- in a tactical, under pressure situation---> yea being able to quickly dump+ reload the mags is great, and i applaud him for his effort... but if your not just trying to impress people, and want it to be true practice- then go through all the way.

  • @artsmith1972

I see your sarcasm was taken the wrong way, but he is right about how you sound. Telling this guy to somehow cycle mags in an apartment or bedroom like he would on a range is absurd. He was demoing quick mag changes, nothing more. Heck, his method would be perfectly fine if he was drilling tactical reloads other than if they were maxed he would have a much harder time seating them.

  • oh, and in case you didnt know- the SU16 bolt locks in the OPEN position after last round fired, so releasing the bolt HAS to be done before firing another round- no matter how fast you can cycle the mags.....

  • @artsmith1972

wow man, really going after me? hahaha. And yes, I did know that the SU-16 has the last shot hold open on it, which is why it would be impossible for this fine gentleman to completely incorporate everything into his reload drill unless he really was emptying magazines at a range, which was not his intent in this video (obviously).

As a small side-note if everyone is entitled to their own opinion, then I stand by my opinion that you're a douche bag. :) thanks for your time

  • Thats cool and all, but add 30 rds of tension to the magazine and it'll just fall out with only that ammount of upward pressure. With a full mag, you really need to "seat" the mag in the mag well or it won't lock in or feed properly.

  • pretty decent job dude!

  • outstanding, dude! love that setup!

  • Very cool dude got a SU 22 good gun just cant afford .223 ammo. Great drill looks like you have had some practice.

  • Excellent job!

    *****

  • how did you get your mags to drop free? on all of the su16's I have played with the mags had to be ripped out with considerable force!

  • i didn't modify the gun at all... the only ones that will drop free though are the standard teflon coated GI mags... My P-Mags and a couple polymer ones for a SIG 556 don't drop free.

I'd just recommend trying some different magazines.

  • @darthvader906

Thanks for the reply, I live in cali and we arent allowed to have "evil" 30 round magazines. I wonder if the Ar15 10 round magazines drop free as well?

  • @darthvader906 I have read that some owners have trouble pulling free the 30 round magnazine from the stock storing slots...I wonder if this has to do with polymer magazines also

  • Good drill, well done. I use a beta c mag so reloads are far and few lol.

  • Comment removed

  • This is why I'm getting one of these.

  • Great carbine... I love the mag storage in the stock. Other than switching to the other side of the double mag, the one from the stock is by far my fastest reload.

  • @darthvader906 wow i watched this video more than a few times... and till i read this post... i didn't notice you switching to the one in the stock it was that damn fast.... NINJA!!!

  • u should practice keeping your eye down the sights and not on the mags otherwise not bad

  • Thank you and good tip. I was trying my best to at least keep my sights on my "target" but i will make a mental note to try and keep my eyes on them.

  • Mall ninja for sure.

  • If that "mall ninja" keeps practicing he'll put a dress on you before you know it.

Mall ninjas may be easy to smirk at, but it's elitist d-bags that really bother me.

  • Man, that's fast! I just bought the SU 16-C. How about doing a takedown video on these carbines. I've heard it's easy, but the manual sucks.

  • I will see what I can do for you... It's not terribly complicated; only mildly frustrating thing can be getting the bolt carrier assembly back into the receiver. Usually takes me a couple tries.

  • have you ever noted any problems with the magazines not properly seating themselves in the mag well? This could be fixed with the slap on the mag base but I was just wondering how well they lock in.

  • you may need to buy a better magaziines like tapco mags and I think that the mag well in the su 16 is not to the same specs as the ar15 if that helps

  • If the bolt is locked back when you put in a loaded mag, it should go in nice and easy. If the bolt is closed it does take a little extra oomf to get it in there. but like tyler said, higher quality mags will help remedy that.

  • Just bought the SU16c for $585 can't wait to shoot it this weekend

  • lol you look like lady gaga

  • i'm not really sure what to make of this... lol

  • You never took your finger off the mag release or cycled the bolt.

  • ya i know... i was going more for just getting the mags in the well as fast as possible...

  • Can you post another with the compete manual of arms? I'm thinking of getting an su-16 but I'm not sure I can live with the charging handle on the wrong side.

  • Awesome. A tac vest is gonna slow you down a bit though, 'cause of all the velcro. Nice rifle though. An SU-16CA is gonna be my Xmas present to myself.

  • That is a great rifle. I've been looking at getting an SU-16A. I considered the C model because the folding stock is cool and you can still operate the rifle with it folded, but I like the mag storage in the stock. How do you like yours? And do you have any recommendations for optics? Thanks, great vid

  • get the ca version. its supposed to be much better. thicker barrel, stuff like that, and has the same stock, hell its even legal in cali!

  • Sweet, thanks for the advice. Now I just need to find the money!

  • What brand are those 30 round mags?

  • They're just shitty US GI spec ones made by Center Industries and Parsons Precision Products

  • Way ta stick it to cali........ +1

  • ;-)

  • Nice, how long did it take you to get that muscle memory, is that the only system you run, and you might want to consider a tactical vest of some sort?

  • thats pretty sweet bro

  • Didn't take too long. I always try to practice my reloads whenever I do dry fire drills and even when i go shooting. When I do live fire I usually put 2 rounds in each magazine to shoot before the reloads.

I do something similar with my AK, albeit not quite as smooth haha..

And yeah, I need a tac vest. gonna be a birthday present to myself.

  • I'm looking to get into tactical shooting. Would you recommend this rifle as good enough for that?

  • Nice need to try that with my su-16, I own a barrett m82a1 so I win lol!!!!!!!

  • damn that must have set you back 8gs.

  • bought it around 6,800 sold it for 6 thanks to being laid off.

  • that sucks, its a beauty. best of luck.

  • I've never seen that kind of rifle before, that's pretty awesome looking. Is it basically like a Mini-14 that doesn't suck?

  • For all intents and purposes yes lol...

Check it out, it's a very cool rifle. Same price as a Mini, but more accurate, lighter, heavier barrel, the Su-16 folds up, comes with a built in bipod, and can take and hold an extra standard AR magazine.

  • Have you shot the mini-14 too?? cuz im wondering about recoil and mostly the price lol how much did you pay for your SU?? And some people on forums said that they heard of this gun blowing up in their hands have you heard if this??

  • In a review done by a well known gun enthusiast the su-16 beat the shit out of a mini-14 in price, firepower, cleaning/takedown and accuracy. I paid around $500.00 for my su-16a and it does kick hard for a .223. No I never heard of it blowing up. They were prob using 5.56 ammo of reloads. 5.56 is night and day from .223.

  • Thanks for the reply I think Im going to get a Saiga .223 first then get a SU-16C, but the only problem is that im a lefty so the mag release is a problem, in the firearm world it sometimes sucks to be a lefty lol

  • understandable and smart to go that route, but saiga is monster size weight cmopared

  • Nice. have you looked at PMags?

  • Nice. Looks like you got that reload down pat.

  • haha.. thanks... Actually, i've been practicing my AK reloads too using the technique i first saw in your video lol...
