I loved the movement of shadow and light on your skin covering your vocal cords as your body moved in concert with the melody and 4:37 to 4:48 was absolutely thrilling. At the end, the piano was dreamy, spiritual and luminous.
Dorthea, very nice. I am not accustomed to hearing a mezzo sing this. It was nice to hear the change in timbre. I have to admit I was a little distracted by your body movements. Thanks for posting this, it was a pleasure to listen to.
I think she's not a mezzo-soprano but an alto.. by the way she does it well. She sings the version in G Major, the soprano version is in B flat Major :-)
Schubert composed the song with German words, a translation of an English poem by Sir Walter Scott. (Ellens dritter Gesang) Later someone set the Latin "Ave Maria" prayer text to Schubert's melody.
Fantastic!!!1

why does it say its in the original language , which is Latin, and then she sings it in German? not trying to critizie it is just misleading.

@KelbyLeeAnne but for this particular composition, YES, German is the original language because that is how Schubert wrote it.
