  • everyone has something to say about chevy making more hp then ford but do you realize that ford uses smaller engines and is making more/ just as much as chevy's bigger engines. funny how ford is producing 412hp with a 5.0 (which they could get more) and it took chevy a 6.2l to make 420ish....

  • @2008saleen and every ford guy brings up the bigger engine thing. It seems they either forget about the extra 3 cams they have stuffed in there, or they're to ignorant to understand how a motor works. a handful of cams and double the valves, more than makes up for a lack of cubes =)

  • nice camaro i guess...even though it was going up against a pretty much stock cobra,.........if u throw a kenne bell mammoth kit on the cobra the outcome would b very different.........and before all u gm guys bash me and say "yea well throw a supercharger on the maro and c what happens!!" ...lol bro its a 4.6 agains a 5.7, thats why theres a blower, to make up for the lost cubic inches!!!! and in my opinion if the maro doesnt use the juice its just as slow as all the other maros out there!!!

  • @afgandominator 4.6 with 32 valves and 4 cams with sustained volumetric effiiency at 95 to over 100% due to forced induction vs a 5.7 with 16 valves and 1 cam with volumetric effiiciency at best 85-90% sustained at best 80-85% due to natural aspiration. Don't forget that part car guy... cuz We gunna c wut happenz am I rite?

  • @afgandominator no actually I was filling in the holes in your typical "4.6 vs 5.7" argument. The LSx series of motors are unlike anything else in the performance world right now, because nobody has done what gm has done with pushrods from the factory. Both Fords 4.6 and gms ls1 are great motors. As I said I was filling in the holes in your very flawed "4.6 vs 5.7" engine size argument. Theres alot in that "little" 4.6 making up for those "lost" cubes outside a blower.

  • @afgandominator indeed I have love for both as well. Im pretty much the same as far as the camaro goes. Not to big on its styling, I drive a trans am myself but love the vette. Also because I was once a hardcore ford fan, I still to this day, after 9 years, have this weird relationship with the camaro to where I'll probably never own one lol. Even though I root for it whenever its heads up with something that doesn't have an LSx motor =/,, weird I know.

I wasn't implying either motor was better, but you can't translate anything I said to ford having the better motor. the ls series Did something ford never ever did with the traditional small block from the factory. LS1 vs GT40 5.0? And im not talking about power output only. Design itself. Buddy's firehawk got 32mpg from houston to ohio while putting down 323 rwhp stock.

And thats why Ford has sold alot more Mustangs then Camaros, right? And thats why even the new SS loses to the new GT, right? Ford came first and always will be first. You can argue all you want but look at the sales numbers and the stock vs stock races, thats the real proof.

  • @iGOTCHOPPERS1 I'll cut you some slack since you sport the eagle,globe and anchor. Mustang never had to share the market within it's own division. Camaro had to deal with trans ams and corvettes. V6 mustangs sold more than V8s and those were bought by females. Females like mustangs better than camaros because they are easier to get into while wearing dresses.

At least GM has a few that can claim a spot with the ferraris and bugattis. The LS9 corvette,cstv caddy and if it ever comes the new z28.

  • @CamaroSS2236 most people will agree that dollar for dollar chevies will always be faster than other brands. there are other asspects of a car besides speed that makes it great. my friend has a lexus 430gs and that is an awesome car. it's fast but not the fastest but the quality and the sound system are great. It's a pricey car but it isworth the money if that's what you're looking for. ford guys have nothing to hang their hats on but the mustang so give them a mulligan for only having one car .

    Go ahead and list the price tags on those cars while your talkin about them buddy.... I have seen a ton of chevys rolling around that were mentioned, how many of these cars are rolling around? Not very many, try again. Should I list that the cars you mentioned are also not made by ford? Saleen and Shelby aren't ford, they are the reason ford has some fast cars though, lol. But both those cars are hyper cars, and will damn near never be seen on the street. Like I said, try again, buddy.

  • @afgandominator eh, actually the only mustang after the '03-'04 cobra that's impressive is the new one. the one in between is a sad sack. head/cams combinations only net you ~350-360rwhp. my 130K mile T/A made 349rwhp/364rwtq on a dynojet in Hueytown last week and have the sheet to prove it. and the Vette and Camaro arent the only things GM has. they also have the CTS-V (Nurburgring record holder), the Cobalt turbo (another record holder), and a couple years back, the GTO. plenty to choose from.

  • @afgandominator the new 5.0 DOES NOT outperform the 6.2L..i think you meant to say was the new mustang 5.0 outperfomts the new camaro SS...in terms that the new maro is a fat ass..but the 6.2 makes 426 hp and 420ftlbs or tq....and the 5.0 makes 412 hp and 390 ftlbs of tq...and the 6.2 L only needed one cam to make that power..not FOUR..go do a cam swap on a 6.2 and it can net you an extra 90 RWHP and only cost maybe 400 bucks..same thing on the new 5.0 will cost you 1000....more CI = < potential

  • @afgandominator but man you do know the cobra R was a VERy VERY limited production car..more of a prototype that ford only made a few of..and how many 300+ RWHP mustangs are running around out there on the street?..do you know the old F bodes with the 3.8L V6 had 200hp and the stang GT had like 215hp at the time?..back around 96 and 97..a V6 camaro with only gears and headers would beat a stock GT.(i have seen it done a few times)...only fast stangs are the new 5.0's and the Termis..THATS IT

  • @contagious6969 the reason to your first question is b/c GM created the new Camaro BEFORE the new 5.0 mustang came out. hence 2010 Camaro. and no, cubic inches do not make that big of a difference with today's technology. there are 2.0l imports running 9's in a 1/4 mile. so no, s/c vs. larger n/a isnt fair because with a s/c you can turn up the boost if needed. you cant turn up cubic inches. the only years that the mustang dominated were 03-04 and 2011 the '05-'10 is just another sad sack...

  • @deadeyedickification The 2011 Camaro has the same power so what's the difference? And cubic inches do matter. You can put bolts on on a n/a engine and gain just about the same as cobra owners do with a pulley swap (can't just turn up the boost and make crazy power with an inefficient blower) and bolt on's. Just different ways of building reliable power. And I have to disagree, the 07-11 Gt500's are dominating right now until the new z28 is released. Like I've said, both make great cars.

  • @contagious6969 the new SS is NOT 3 tenths of a second slower in the quatermile...this is all just new 5.0 hype..Motor Trend ran a 12.9 with the new camaro SS when comparing it again'st the GT500...a freaking 12.9 on a NON preped asphault with rocks on it...the fastest stock time recorded for the new 2011 5.0's is 12.6!! and that was on an actual DRAG STRIP ...dont you think that with a good driver on a preped drag strip..that a new SS could'nt drop another 3 tenths??..it's already been done

  • @ilovechevy1 I'm not looking at the fastest times that a couple of people have made under perfect conditions. I'm talking about how the SS runs average of 13.1-13.0 flat. The 5.0 on the other hand averages 12.7-12.8. So at best it's still two tenths of a second slower. Like I said, there's always going to be someone quicker. Ford just happens to be on top of the game for now. Both great cars but the horsepower wars will continue.

  • @contagious6969 i see where you are going with that but you cant' honestly tell me tho.. that you have'nt seen reviews of the new 5.0's with them running only 13.0-13.3's..cause i know i have..and i have seen the same for the new SS..but the manual versions only...since they come withh the LS3...and not the L99 400hp engine that the automatics have..if you take 2 good drivers and put a manual new 5.0 and a manual new SS...it's gona be a neck and neck race..i just wish the camaro weighed the same

  • @ilovechevy1 Yes I definitely agree. And hopefully the new camaro will lose some weight. It'd be one hell of a race if they weighed the same. I mean the manual camaros are already hurting the ls2 corvettes up to about 140mph. That's definitely an accomplishment. I guess we all will just have to wait and see, but I know the camaro forums have been asking for less weight. Hopefully GM will listen and do it.

  • @ilovechevy1 I have quite a few cars right now an 07 gt500, an 06 e60 m5, an 06 hummer h3, and an 06 gto that I have racing my m5 in one of my vids. I replaced my 04 termi with this gt500 and hate it after me and my wife were t-boned by some dumb college bitch who totaled my car and sent my wife air lifted to the hospital. Your camaro is no slouch. I almost built a 2002 ss with an sts kit before I bought that termi. I love all cars but everyone around me seems to be Ford vs GM.

My termi was black and so is my gt500. Love the color but hate the up keep on them. Any reason you picked the auto rather than the manual?

  • @contagious6969 well yeah..i love to drag race at the track..and altho i like manuals cause they are fun to drive..it's very hard to beat a built auto tranny with a stall and gears..it gets rid of driver error and you will run faster due to no power is wasted between shifts..they are instantanous in my built 4L60E..iit ran 11.3 before i done alot of modding recently..it should now be high 10's just have'nt been to the track

  • @contagious6969 since i ran the 11.3 i have goten my supercharge rebuilt (bearings where going out)..i went from 42 lb injectors to 60lbders..added an AEM water/methanol injection system..switched the stock LS1 intake out for a better flowing LS6 intake..and removed the EGR..and got it retuned..i went from 488RWHP to 520RWHP..if my car was a manual and not a stalled automatic i would have put down around 550 but the auto's with a stall absorb up alot of HP..it will run 10's t the track next time

I personally like the manual to have fun, but most of my cars have been autos and I'm actually starting to prefer them. Not sure I'd want to meet your car on the road, it's got to be a beast.   • wtf? thats why the last 3 engines into my shop where from 2 cobras and a lightning... one had 3 cracked pistons and rods, the lightning had a crankshaft that broke in 3 places, and the other cobras valves in 2 cylinders sunk and the stems broke... the LS1's we get are to put stroker kits in... lol

  • No doubt that camaro can move pretty good. Although nitrous and superchargers are both power adders, its like comparing apples to oranges. Nitrous is an INSTANT hit of power, where as the supercharger builds up boost with an increase of rpm.

  • back in the late 80's and early 90's Mustangs whooped on Camaro's you could not touch a 90 LX with a Iroc. So Chevy threw in a LS1 and a 6 speed to compete.

  • 8 years later? A 3rd gen TPI was a great race for a 5.0 mustang in the early 90's. Then came the LT1, which destroyed any mustang on the road at the time. Then came the LS1, which to this day a naturally aspirated mustang still cannot beat. For all you guys whining about '03-'04 cobras - there wasn't an f-body made those years. The LAST mustang made to compete with an f-body was an '02 cobra, and an f-body will walk one stock for stock unless the driver REALLY sucks, as with anything.

  • I did some research on that and its not true they were both mid to high 14 sec cars but according to what i read the camaro was alittle quicker through most of those years especially if you ordered the 5.7ltr tpi. I was always told what you said so I looked it up

  • Stock LS1 Camaros are capable of running mid to high 13s at the very least.

  • ZR1vette your stupid, an 01 cobra with its N/A DOHC 4.6L makes 320hp thats more than chevy's 5.7L LT1 and LS1, plus fords N/A DOHC 5.4L made 385hp thats about 70hp more than chevys 5.7L, face it chevy needed a Huge 7.0L just to feel safe against ford, they couldnt face the fact that the pre 05 vettes where getting their ass handed to them by 03 cobras stock vs stock a car not even built to compete against it.

A 99-04 GT has a 2v 4.6 while a 03-04 mach 1 has a 4v 4.6, A Gt also comes with 3:27s gears while the Mach comes with 3:55s, you do your research, Machs where underatted at 310hp, they dyno around 270-280 to the wheels thats around 325hp to the crank, a gt dynoes around 220hp, Machs have hit 13.1 Stock while the GTs are only capable of a 13.9 at best stock.YOU RESEARCH!

  • I think Chevrolet made the LS7 to take down Ferraris and Lamborghinis, and it has, that cost more than twice as much. The Ford GT cost about twice as much, and the Corvette can run with it too. Yea 01 320 hp Cobras get yanked by LS1s all the time. More horsepower obviously isn't what GM needs to beat Ford's shitty products.
