This game makes me jump in the chair a few times. Mostly in where a junkie tried to pull you down the stairs and then after the scan was done on the subway car.

Are badly injured and mutilated persons intrinsically scary now? It seems to me more a situation for pity and compassion than for fear...?
Imagine if you encounter this situation in real life. You see a car crash victim trapped in their automobile. Their face is cut up and their arm is off. They plead with you to help them.
Is this REALLY a situation for fear? Fear of what? The victim's INJURIES?
I can accept if you're squeamish about blood, but that's still not FEAR.

Well... imagine if you see a dead body trapped in an automobile, his face is cut, arms off, a sad situation. At this point you can feel pity for him. Then he wakes up and said that the people who did that to him are very close to you.
Put a little in the situation, if u were there u will call the police and run away faster than ligth.
@LevelUpToMax The game really doesn't focus on the torturer being the fearsome thing though. It plays the victim himself as the fearsome thing. The intro movie has the victim stumbling around in pain, and hiding in the locker. The actual gameplay involves finding the locker the victim is in. When you open the locker there's an 'awwooo' thing in the music, as if to say "OHH LOOOK! A CORPSE! IT IS SCARY!" Even though you already knew from the intro movie that the victim was in the locker.
I don't get what you're protesting about. There are a whole ton of movies that invoke similar elements for scary moments like this. Are you going to compare all of those to a car accident?

Let's put this in perspective. This isn't Halloween where the protagonist is a teenage girl and the murderer is a 6 foot tall 250 lb bear of a man. He's at least a threat. The protagonist here is a fairly large police officer, and the murderer has been doing nothing but RUN FROM THE PROTAGONIST from the whole game. The murderer is NOT THREATENING.

Well, yea. In the light that it IS a psychological thriller, it's alot less scary. That's my point exactly. The fact that the genres are different is irrelevant to my comparison. I'm merely pointing out that the torturer poses no PHYSICAL THREAT to the player character, and that in fact, the torturer has been on the run FROM THE PLAYER for the entire game so far.

In that light, to me, the accident is scarier, in a sense, because the accident simply IS. The man has reasons.

The game at gamestop told me this game was good and scary. I'm glad I bought it used, the game was terrible. It was just walking around and picking up pipes and waiting for some guy to run at you!
@RobRants94 .. its one of my favourite games. Can't remember seeing something as brutal as this. I mean it had its flaws, no multiplayer, I thought there was a plot hole about why everyones trying to murder everyone else (but apparently you can unlock a police file finding all the dead birds and metal pieces that explains it) its execution moves are just for style (should have been a combo or something) but I liked feeling like a detective who kicks ass in a grungy looking world.
I remember playing that part... I was trying to get the close up, and I was almost standing inside the locker trying to get close to his face.... it scared the living crap out of me when he grabbed me, and I wondered how Thomas could have been so calm when a freaking corpse just grabbed him.
Yeah, definitely one of the scariest...I think there's an even worse part shortly after where all you hear is kids laughing or something like that, scared the crap out of me. I ran through that part so fast I missed the collectible in that area.

After Silent Hills, Amnesia and Penumbra it wasn't scary at all for me)) But it was rather funny to kick some ass and the game has interesting plot, though I don't like the ending and this strange creature aka "the main boss". Think it doesn't match the whole story with birds, strange sound, psychopaths and so on. Maybe I didn't understand something(

Condemned is awesome...I like the first one better than the second. Fear is good to but in my opinion not as good. Until this point in the game you had been studying crime scenes and nothing like this happened, every dead body you examined had been 100% dead and decaying, then suddenly this guy grabs you by the hand and is alive... LOL, just saying.

Condemned is awesome...I like the first one better than the second. Fear is good to but in my opinion not as good. I like how when he opened the locker he was OBVIOUSLY creeped out from his jerky movements looking all around...what made me laugh was he wacked the dude inside the locker with the locker DOOR, lol, classic!

I was on xbox live in a party with my friend, and i thought he was dead. when i took the close-up picture and he moved, i screamed and not only did i make myself pee my pants, i made me friend in the party pee his pants as well. chain reaction. it was the best ten seconds of my life. If you like really scary games though, try Amnesia the dark Descent.
it starts of slow and easy but after 30 minutes of play it scares the shit out of ya.

@SuperDean1993 If you played this when it came out, in the dark, with surround sound, you are a robot if this didn't make you jump. Until this point in the game you had been studying crime scenes and nothing like this happened, every dead body you examined had been 100% dead and decaying, then suddenly this guy grabs you by the hand and is alive... LOL, just saying.
