  • i would like to say that the incubator is really cool, but instead of a dimmer switch for a thermostat you could use a water heater thermostat, i am sure you will have great hatches, but it is less of a hassle when controlling the temp with a water heater thermostat, rather than a dimmer switch,,,,, because the thermostat will adjust to changes in temp, but the dimmer will stay the same if the outside temp affects the inside of the incubator

  • @quintinp02 Thanks for the suggestion. You saved me $30 by using a water heater thermostat instead of a heating pad thermostat.

  • @sharaedavis You're welcome, I also recommend drilling holes into the thermostat, when you do this, the thermostat can react quicker to changes in air temperature, and I recommend placing the back of the thermostat, within an inch and a half of the light. If you don't know how or where to drill the holes into the thermostat, search

"Homemade incubator build follow up. Thermostat Modification" :) I hope this helps

  • how often do you need to rotate the eggs and how do you rotate them ?

  • great stuff !

  • For sale?

  • At walmart, you can just purchase a min-fan for $6... I wouldn't want to bother with something I don't know how to touch. Nice vid so far. :D I would love to see those eggs hatch.

  • @SaveaChicken great advice ut the cpu fan is pretty straight forward skin a phone charger and splice the wire together tape it and plug it in. .. But the mini-fan can be just as good. but what r u gonna do when the battery runs out. You would still want to open it up cut the wires and do the same splicing required to keep it running..

  • If you pull a fan from a device, such as a computer, make sure the voltage of the fan matches the voltage of the transformer.

A sponge sitting the water will give more surface area to increase humidity and keep the chicks from falling in and drowning. Might put some wire screen over the bowl anyway.
