  • Ohh never mind.Already got an 4efte tercel now .

Dont need the blacktop or silvertop anymore

  • so Which engine is good for a swap from a 7AFE to? 4age blacktop or silver top?

  • @lxxxevolutionxxxl Blacktop, has slight more hp

  • @lxxxevolutionxxxl

Depends what you intend to do with it. If you are going to leave it stock go with a blacktop. if you are going to turbo it go with a 1st gen 4agze bigport. the second gen was the small port, which in stock form is better, but used a maf sensor rather then map and is a pain in the ass to properly tune.

  • @lxxxevolutionxxxl get a later gen 4agze like the ae92 and swap a bigtop head on it that way you have a stronger bottom but a high flow top

  • Holy shit it's a purple top! Look out!

  • That car is a front wheel drive, look the position of the engine. What a waste.

  • i love these motors :) thumbs up

  • update, down to one corolla, just be patient man, you'll find a clean one eventually, 4agePower, is it u that has been posting the black AE92 on c list in the twin cities??? not clean, but still has parts i'd snatch, like sideskirts and motor.....

  • i have an 85 corolla for $1000

  • is that carbs or efi?

  • is that a blow off valve in the breather?

  • Independet Throtle body'S

  • Nice!

  • Lol what do you mean? It has ITBS!!!!

  • @4agePower Individual Throttle Body System mate.

  • God, nice- Only thing your missing is ITBS!!!!

  • so is blacktop, or silver top faster?

  • a blacktop is faster by about 20-30hp

and runs on a "map" induction sensoring system which is much more efficient than your standard air flow meter in the silvertops.

  • congrats on the fx-16, not my cup-o-tea, but u deffinately dont see them everyday. I hav 3 86's, my friend has 2, and my other friend has 4 and there are a few more out her in WI, but I still hav yet to see an fx-16 up close....

  • @Reuterskiold

Send me a 86 to Australia, so I can put this engine into it :D

  • @4agePower

well, I would, but owning 86's nowadays in the states makes u kinda broke...

u cant find em out in Australia

  • There hard to find without rust, and the ones that you find are VERY expensive :(

  • @4agePower

huh, well I guess u Aussies have sea air, which has salt in it......

Same thing here dude, we have winter and we salt the roads out here, so where I live they r rare, but on the West coast they are rare, but more common and cost a lot, I'm actually picking up an SR5 which is better than my currnet one for $200, (cross fingers) just needs slave cylinder.... then I'll sell my current SR5 and make sum coin since I picked it up for 500, thinking bout selling it for 1500

  • @4agePower Very True!

  • @4agePower they're everywhere in aus man, just need to look.

  • @Reuterskiold Its expensive? Fuck I was thinking of using the money I make next summer to buy one, and get a low mileage blacktop 4AGE...

  • @Reuterskiold really? Im just the next state over haha MN, fuck man find me an 86 sr5 or gts so i can throw my 4agze in it. Hard as hell to find those out here man. But if you come across the ae92 corolla gts's,( The one i like) I own 2 and need a cleaner shell, but hey cool to here anyways. Peace

  • I'm doing research before deciding what engine I want, so I'm going to ask you, why did you choose the silvertop over the black top? What do you like about the silver top?

  • Blacktops are better. Higher compression, more power, higher reving, but both are great engines. But I still love my built 16valve :)

  • Well from what I've heard, blacktops may have more power (5hp more) but they don't take well to boosting. Turbo and such cause the blacktops to spend its life faster. Silver tops from what I ve heard have stronger bottom ends.

  • Well, they aren't as good to boost because they have higher compression, and idk about which has a stronger bottom end. If you want to boost something I'd suggest using a 4A-GZE. ( 8:1-8.5:1compression depending on which generation and they are super strong, and since they come supercharged, they are great for turboing.) or if you want all motor you could use a GZE block, crank, and rods w/ redtop hicomp pistons. The possibilities are endless.

  • I'd run a 9:5.1 comp 4AGE and run less boost for the same result as a 8:1-8.5:1 comped motor running higher boost. Low compression and big boost is the old days :)

  • Well, it's all in personal preference. Personally I'd rather run lower compression w/ higher boost, but thats just me.

  • The only point of low comp-high boost is bragging rights. 8-10 PSI spools faster than 18-25 PSI.

  • @TurboLover2JZGTE

There is no such thing as preference, if it performs it IS the best.

Low compression high boost=less torque, better high end potential.

High compresion low boost=more torque, less high end potential.

    Take your pick.

  • the silvertop and 4agze rods and crank are identicle and ARAIS makes a piston fr the 20v for turbo

  • as do Wiseco. Wiseco are lighter and alot quieter than ARIAS. All personal preference though :)

  • lol damn i always though that was bigger...

ok then how bout a b16 on ITB's?????????

  • lol i wonder what would win?? This on ITB's with tune or a K20 with ITB's on tune..

    I wonder LOL

  • don't compare a 1.6 to a 2.0 idiot at least compare the k20 to a 2zz-ge

  • It did when I had the box on, the feed went right down to the front bar, which a 3" bit of pipe directing air, I spose when the car was moving there would be flow. Hottest the intake temps ever got where 39 degrees on 30 degree summer day.

  • does the cool air feed make much of a difference?

  • Thats a sick engine

  • Comment removed

  • no that is a breather, originally there was a tube going from there to the airbox but because its gone, there is a breather so the oil stays clean

  • awasome

hey if you live in QLD then ill buy it off u lol if u ever sell it lol

  • you look like a real idiot right now...lol

  • I noticed that your original tachometer still works, so how come you got another one?

  • its a larger, more clear display, closer to the driver. Not that he might need it, these units also display higher rev ranges for modded engines.

Also alot of people buy them as they have the shift light, when standard cars obviously dont come with one.

  • Standard tacho is not accurate, after about 7.5K it died. This car has also been written off from the new owner. I have bought it back and it is all now in the process of being chucked into a AE86 sprinter, let the good times roll :)

  • Hahaha, hell yeah. My Hero.

    Good luck (y).

    -Alex

  • Is this in an AE92 mate?

I just put one on my AE95 (93 model 4wd basically the same as a 92) and wired it up to the standard tacho and it hits the limiter at around 7400 rpm. It pulls well and seems to rev a lot so I'm wondering if my tacho is reading wrong. Did yours rev to 8k?

  • @4agePower

That was me, learnt that hard way. Good to see your putting that motor into an 86.

  • Worrylingly rattely

  • thats how 20v's sound. they have a VERY noticeable lifter noise.

  • Yeh i'm aware that they are rather noisy from the top end as i own a AE111 20 V Blacktop Levin, whilst this is rather tappety it is much quieter than yours, it sounds like the VVT is worn ?

  • Since when are 20vs rattly. My 20v doesnt have any rattle at all. His VVT pully is destroyed.

  • how many 20v's have you heard? I've had 3, two BT's and a ST. ALL were rattly. and still very strong.

  • were can i get a set of long tubes for my black top

  • sounds ready to do some damage..

  • yo its pete here. shame about the car, it was ultimate. Im living in qld now out in the middle of nowhere lol. I will get rid of the corolla soon also. maybe a aristo comming.

  • if I had the cash I would of kept it and have 2 cars :(

  • know this car its fast as heard you dont have it anymore.

  • yea its goooone.. The bloke that bought it apparently can't afford to run it as well cause he has another car to run :(

Is that Kaan mang? Or Pete?

  • but ur velocity stack is too long ...not gud for high rev....

  • Yep sure is. Stiffer Cam Springs and Higher lift cams in there 2 :)

  • There fine to 8500rpm. I get torque from longer tubes helps it down low.

  • Nice :) There's a small rattle though.. perhaps the VVT pulley ?
