This low quality demo video doesn't do the format justice and I echo malcolm's reply to the first post. XD is a workhorse in both SD and HD variants. Networks, indies and prod houses are buying a ton of these cameras. ABC shoots Extreme Home Makeover with XDCAM SD. I like the format so much we now have 3 of them - no complaints here.
I think you need to do some more research. XDCAM HD is being taken up by broadcasters as a viable HD format, unlike HDV. It looks extremely unlikely to disappear -it's price and tapeless workflow making it increasingly popular.
this is sad and stupid, Sony always likes to flood the market with Garbage. Yet another format that will dissapear into the air. JUst like that awful ACVHD and MiniDVD crap of cameras they have.
I use XDCAM HD and we at CVP also sell so many of them.
A truely excellent format for shooting with and for post production!

I am surprise. This demo should look much better if they are using XD CAM to shoot this demo.

you would think they would shoot the demo in HD. I hear XDCAM will be the format of choice for broadcasting for the near future.
