Mine does it too. I don't really care. I'm not jumping around and moving the screen all over the place. If I am playing in 3D I am normally sitting. I'm just glad to have one!
I bought my console at launch on 03/27/2011 and it had loose hinges out of the box. Terrible design flaw, I never had this prob with any previous clam-shell design Nintendo portable. Luckily videos like this one prove that good units exist.
My best advice I can give is,never buy a used DS or 3DS at gamestop, you can't always garanteed trust if the hinge is in perfect contact or loose,I'll adment i was guilty of this when i bought two used DS's and the 3DS I bought was a used one cheap for $149.99, my 3Ds's hunge is a little wobbyly but it;ll hold up.
Im just wondering if I get a new 3DS and put my old SD Card in it will the old software be there? (Because I have the 20 free nintendo games and some apps and my 3DS has that problem and I might get a new one soon)
I have had two systems, I exchanged my first one due to a pixel problem that distracted from the 3d effect. Almost instantly when I opened my new one, I noticed this loose hinge problem, it would just wobble ever so slightly. I really don't see the issue with this right now as it doesn't really impact the play-ability of the system... but, I do wonder if it has to potential to cause problems in the future, whether that's with the display itself or otherwise.
I say you shouldn't turn it in because of a loose hinge, inless it literally is falling off. But if you play gyroscope games (zelda OOT 3d) for example, then you should maybe ask your local retailer, or even CALL nintendo.
dammit i thought they were all like that i got mine about a month before the price drop and i noticed it felt loose compared to my dsi but i bought the zelda case for it and now it doesnt feel loose anymore
I bought a Cosmo Black 3DS yesterday, and when I felt the loose hinges, I tried to fix it, but ended up breaking in half. I cried (lol), so I'm saving up money to buy a Flame Red next week.

mine doesnt seem to wobble as much as unit 1 did but it just does that a tiny bit what unit is mine? will it break after a while im carful with it! please answer luckyduck22.
same thing but i have a flame red one and the same thing still goes on so i was probably wandering if i could take to get it fixed? do you think i would be able to do that
I got the 3ds the day it came out I has the blue my bro has red but got it later on I have wobble he doesn't! I think it is the first Bach second Bach concept
I have the same problem with my 3DS. I'm gonna use my warranty to get a new one. What do I have to bring in to use the warranty??? everything or just the 3DS. Please answer.
my hinge is loose and makes noises but really i find it not that big of a dead its not like your gonna be shaking the crap out of it my brother has one that dosent make noise but seems to move quite a bit aswell but still its no big deal
I bought it on day one(March 27, 2011) and it has no give whatsoever. It surprised me, actually that it WASN'T wobbly or loose, considering the DS Lite. My DS Lite had a ton of issues. There was a crack on the hinge after about two months of use, restricting it from closing. It also would slowly slide closed if I held it up. Oh, well. Not everyone experiences the same things.
3DS shouldn't have a loose hindge like that and so many ppl are suffering about it, I went to Gamestop to trade it for another one and the guy brought out a brand new 3DS that does the same thing so he didn't exchange it, I also called Nintendo about it and they said that its normal, the 3DS was intentionally made that way to prevent screen cracks, at least that's what a represntitive told me. So we are supposed to accept em this way? BULL CRAP!, to me that is an excuse, they know they f***** up
I have a different problem with my 3DS,My R button doesnt work and doesnt click when I press it for some reason. Its not like I abuse it or anything,I take quite good care of it,the good thing is though is that I bought an extended warranty accidental cover with it,so hopefully when I bring it back they will give me a new one.Has anyone else had the same problem?
Omg! yeah. my first one had no wobble at all but i returned it because it had sticking buttons. Now i got a second one and it has wobble just like your first one! Im so freaking mad! Ill probobly return the one i have now until i get one with no wobble again.

I just noticed mine has a pretty bad wobble :/ it really distorts the 3D sometimes. Do you think that if I bring it back to the place where I bought it, that's a good enough reason for them to exchange it? I do have a warranty. But if I do exchange it I hope they'll let me do a system to system transfer of all my content. I'm just finishing up downloading my other 10 GBA games from nintendo right now. I had this in aqua blue and I took it back to the store today because the screen was wobbly like your black 3DS. I went to my local Best Buy and got the red one like I wanted. It is still a little bit wobbly, but not at all like the blue one was. It has drastically improved.
Nintendo actually did this one purpose. I read up on the contruction of it before.
Turns out, a DS lite and all the other DS's had a tight hinge. The tight hinge breaks way easier, meaning the screen would wobble all the way back, if you've seen a broken DS/DSi/DS Lite. But the loose hinge decreases the chance for that. Think of a long hard stick. You and easily break it. But one of those softer sticks that can bend, you can't just chop it. You have to bend it till it breaks. So that is the idea
thats the thing, crappy old Nintendo just can't make sturdy products. I wonder how it will look after a month of gameplay. bad quality Nintendo. what a waste of 170 bucks. 170 bucks for this? really?
The hinge loosens after opening and closing the 3DS many times, it's just inevitable ware, no point purchasing a new one everytime the hinges get a little loose
I understand what your talking about. I called nintendo and shipped my 3DS in to get it fixed and they sent me an email saying that it is on it's way back. Hopefully nintendo succeeded in fixing the hinge. They need to work on that problem!
it seems that when i got my mine, it didnt have a loose hinge, but now that ive used it alot it had that click, which happens to all my ds systems that i buy. i guess its normal if u play it alot
I Think Is The Clicks That Makes Loose Hinges But With The New 3DS You Got It Does Not Clicks Which Is Not Loosing!( Probably I Think Thats The Problem
Did you just return to the store? I sent mine into Nintendo to repair. They gave me a new one, but it has the same problem. It moves EXACTLY like the first 3DS shown in the video. Very disappointed, especially now that i saw this and your 2nd one you got and how it has NO wobble... guess I'll be sending this one back to Nintendo too...

My Flame Red 3DS's hinge makes that snapping noise, and is a bit loose, just like your older Cosmo Black one.
I think that they're supposed to be a bit loose to prevent them from cracking, a problem that the DS Lite had.
