  • mine has a loose hinges but my brothers is really tight

  • yes i have the thing you have

  • yes

  • Mine does it too. I don't really care. I'm not jumping around and moving the screen all over the place. If I am playing in 3D I am normally sitting. I'm just glad to have one!

  • Mine does that too-it messes up game play. :-(

  • Call Nintendo to repair it: 1-800-255-3700

  • @SamuelgetsHacked87vr

    I will call

  • I bought my console at launch on 03/27/2011 and it had loose hinges out of the box. Terrible design flaw, I never had this prob with any previous clam-shell design Nintendo portable. Luckily videos like this one prove that good units exist.

  • My best advice I can give is,never buy a used DS or 3DS at gamestop, you can't always garanteed trust if the hinge is in perfect contact or loose,I'll adment i was guilty of this when i bought two used DS's and the 3DS I bought was a used one cheap for $149.99, my 3Ds's hunge is a little wobbyly but it;ll hold up.

  • Im just wondering if I get a new 3DS and put my old SD Card in it will the old software be there? (Because I have the 20 free nintendo games and some apps and my 3DS has that problem and I might get a new one soon)

  • I have had two systems, I exchanged my first one due to a pixel problem that distracted from the 3d effect. Almost instantly when I opened my new one, I noticed this loose hinge problem, it would just wobble ever so slightly. I really don't see the issue with this right now as it doesn't really impact the play-ability of the system... but, I do wonder if it has to potential to cause problems in the future, whether that's with the display itself or otherwise.

  • be happy with what you got lady!

  • Now I see your problem guys, that's what happen when you open your 3DS w/out much of a care! Simple logic. -_-

  • mines like that too and its driving me crazy

  • Mines is like that.. it's really annoying..

  • mine does that aswell, when you first buy them the hinges are tight but they loosen up because at first mine was very stiff now its looser

  • Is it that big a problem?

Just curious... I never really cared for it that much unless the hinge was significantly loose, like my GBA SP.

  • knew i wasn't alone sent mine in to be fixed they did nothing..

  • I say you shouldn't turn it in because of a loose hinge, inless it literally is falling off. But if you play gyroscope games (zelda OOT 3d) for example, then you should maybe ask your local retailer, or even CALL nintendo.

  • dammit i thought they were all like that i got mine about a month before the price drop and i noticed it felt loose compared to my dsi but i bought the zelda case for it and now it doesnt feel loose anymore

  • dude i brought the 3ds on april with my hinge like urs and it havent fucked up yet :D

  • Who cares! It doesnt affect gameplay. *loose hinge* Oh my god!!! "I need to take it back!"*runs to store* *drops it* *breaks* "HOLY CRAP"

  • I think they're not loose but just for opening/closing the ds

  • I'm scared to buy a 3DS after the pain I suffered with my DS and DS Lite :(

  • I bought a Cosmo Black 3DS yesterday, and when I felt the loose hinges, I tried to fix it, but ended up breaking in half. I cried (lol), so I'm saving up money to buy a Flame Red next week.

  • Well that worries me too, but you don't have a loose hinge on the other unit, it's just a play it gets with normal use, you know, opening/closing...

  • My Flame Red 3DS's hinge makes that snapping noise, and is a bit loose, just like your older Cosmo Black one.

I think that they're supposed to be a bit loose to prevent them from cracking, a problem that the DS Lite had.

  • every single thing man kind makes no matter what it is. it will degrade. and deterriate. its perfectly fine if you dont fling it all around like it can take a hard beating.

  • I also have a loose hinge

  • Shut the **** up!!!!!!!

  • its nothing it just does that so when u open it the hinge wont snap right off!

  • at 1:33 when i try to do that it just opens up more

  • I treat my 3ds like gold even if mine is unit 1 itll never break. Tip: if u dont want the top screen to move buy a case like those protector cases and it does not move one cm.

  • mine doesnt seem to wobble as much as unit 1 did but it just does that a tiny bit what unit is mine? will it break after a while im carful with it! please answer luckyduck22.

  • same thing but i have a flame red one and the same thing still goes on so i was probably wandering if i could take to get it fixed? do you think i would be able to do that

  • I got the 3ds the day it came out I has the blue my bro has red but got it later on I have wobble he doesn't! I think it is the first Bach second Bach concept

  • I broke 4 Nintendo ds lites I'm pretty bad with my stuff, but it wasn't my fault it broke the hinges just sucked

  • they all dont wobby at first give it time. ive had 2 cuz my first one got stolen and i treat them like gold. but who cares its no that bad.

  • who cares its not even that bad, gosh girls should not use game systems

  • Dang. I bought two 3DS's from Newegg and got them today - One has a loose hinge. =(

  • if i touch the top screen when its closed it moves up should i get a new one?

  • I have the same problem with my 3DS. I'm gonna use my warranty to get a new one. What do I have to bring in to use the warranty??? everything or just the 3DS. Please answer.

  • my 3ds is ok but i guess its the black ones? my gf had a black and i have blue hers is wobbly but mine isnt

  • my hinge is loose and makes noises but really i find it not that big of a dead its not like your gonna be shaking the crap out of it my brother has one that dosent make noise but seems to move quite a bit aswell but still its no big deal

  • all make it the same they all give a little bit but it depends if u treat it right

  • I bought it on day one(March 27, 2011) and it has no give whatsoever. It surprised me, actually that it WASN'T wobbly or loose, considering the DS Lite. My DS Lite had a ton of issues. There was a crack on the hinge after about two months of use, restricting it from closing. It also would slowly slide closed if I held it up. Oh, well. Not everyone experiences the same things.

  • So it's bad when the 3ds clicks when you open it?

  • 3DS shouldn't have a loose hindge like that and so many ppl are suffering about it, I went to Gamestop to trade it for another one and the guy brought out a brand new 3DS that does the same thing so he didn't exchange it, I also called Nintendo about it and they said that its normal, the 3DS was intentionally made that way to prevent screen cracks, at least that's what a represntitive told me. So we are supposed to accept em this way? BULL CRAP!, to me that is an excuse, they know they f***** up

  • I have a different problem with my 3DS,My R button doesnt work and doesnt click when I press it for some reason. Its not like I abuse it or anything,I take quite good care of it,the good thing is though is that I bought an extended warranty accidental cover with it,so hopefully when I bring it back they will give me a new one.Has anyone else had the same problem?

  • Omg! yeah. my first one had no wobble at all but i returned it because it had sticking buttons. Now i got a second one and it has wobble just like your first one! Im so freaking mad! Ill probobly return the one i have now until i get one with no wobble again.

  • yeah mine does this too i am going to exchange and keep exchanging until i get one like your new one i have read that this is a big problem

  • y r u saying peace u old gipsy

  • wow u have 2 3ds thats cool but ur a gay retarded crap

  • my new red 3ds has the same problem, this sucks

  • my 3ds wobbles a little bit. but will it really effect the system or is it okay

  • hahahahahaha~ let see if u can make it WIGGLE on camera~ :))

  • I would like to update my complete experience with the Nintendo 3DS repair process. * Please note, I reside in California and a Nintendo repair facility is located in California, this impacts shipping times * I phoned Nintendo, to set up a repair on my unit on December 12. This was set up under warranty for general build issues with my Aqua Blue unit: Depth slider was wobbly/not tight The hinge had a lot of play. Little movements caused abnormal amount of give and Wobbliness. If I put sligh

  • my 3ds doesnt even click when it opens, just a thump feeling :/

  • @TheKilodaneko mine does a thump feeling too

  • i baught mine on relaese day and it dosnt wobble

  • I just noticed mine has a pretty bad wobble :/ it really distorts the 3D sometimes. Do you think that if I bring it back to the place where I bought it, that's a good enough reason for them to exchange it? I do have a warranty. But if I do exchange it I hope they'll let me do a system to system transfer of all my content. I'm just finishing up downloading my other 10 GBA games from nintendo right now. So hopefully they'll let me do that :/

  • I got mine just after release, it's maybe a little sturdier than your wobbly one, but if I shake my 3DS it does wobble quite a bit, something I'm not so keen on...

Same happened with my original 3DS (which I preordered and got at release) which needed to be replaced for many many reasons...

I might need to get it replaced again soon though, oh Nintendo...

  • 6 people have loose hinges...

  • you have aprob with and you buy another pair? you must have enouth money to buy me some games then

  • Yeah mine has a loose hinge and I thought it was only mine. At least i now know it isn't just mine!!

  • @KrustyKoopa damn right! and WHY WHY do the launch titles have to be SO SHIT!!! no wonder Nintendo 3DS's are not being sold much as they EXPECTED!!! and Nintendo really need to F***EN hurry up with the system update (the real sys update when the 3DS can do everything it can offer...) i like Nintendo products but this is seriously dissapointing...

  • I know its annoying! I sent mine it for repair

  • my 3ds squeks almost everytime i open it and it's only been like a week since i got it, and i never droped my 3ds once!

  • Dear Nintendo 3DS user, we're setting up a massive claim to nintendo for their Nintendo 3DS system, because of its problematic self-damaging screen and many other issues that disapoint us.

Please join us, we need a lot of support.

  • same here. i have one which doesn't make the clicking noise when opening it and it does not wobble

  • sorry dude

  • MINES DOESNT EVEN DO THAT! SMH

  • Happens this on red 3DS?

  • I had this in aqua blue and I took it back to the store today because the screen was wobbly like your black 3DS. I went to my local Best Buy and got the red one like I wanted. It is still a little bit wobbly, but not at all like the blue one was. It has drastically improved.

  • Nintendo actually did this one purpose. I read up on the contruction of it before.

Turns out, a DS lite and all the other DS's had a tight hinge. The tight hinge breaks way easier, meaning the screen would wobble all the way back, if you've seen a broken DS/DSi/DS Lite. But the loose hinge decreases the chance for that. Think of a long hard stick. You and easily break it. But one of those softer sticks that can bend, you can't just chop it. You have to bend it till it breaks. So that is the idea

  • Also my Dsi makes that clicky sound and it has a wobble hinge but as for 3ds it doesnt make that clicky sound and it doesn't wobble.

  • it depends on certain units, because the ones that makes that clicky sound has the wobble hinge( which is normal ).

  • mine makes a clicking sound

  • PLEASE ANSWER ok mine does that too but i didnt consider it as a problem but if you return it do you have to give back ar cards and everything?

  • people complain about the smallest things

  • i dont wanna start a fight or something thou

  • thats the thing, crappy old Nintendo just can't make sturdy products. I wonder how it will look after a month of gameplay. bad quality Nintendo. what a waste of 170 bucks. 170 bucks for this? really?

  • @sewu44 plz go away! if you dont like Nintendo why are you even watching this? go to your own sort!

  • @sewu44 I've had mine since mid June and it's perfectly fine, except the battery.

  • Just got my 3DS back from Nintendo and the hinge seems to be worse than it was before I sent it! I am extremely disappointed with nintendo!!!!

  • The hinge loosens after opening and closing the 3DS many times, it's just inevitable ware, no point purchasing a new one everytime the hinges get a little loose

  • I understand what your talking about. I called nintendo and shipped my 3DS in to get it fixed and they sent me an email saying that it is on it's way back. Hopefully nintendo succeeded in fixing the hinge. They need to work on that problem!

  • Comment removed

  • it seems that when i got my mine, it didnt have a loose hinge, but now that ive used it alot it had that click, which happens to all my ds systems that i buy. i guess its normal if u play it alot

  • lol return the broken won

  • so they are like that out of the box and should i be afraid about buying one with loose hinges?

  • I Think Is The Clicks That Makes Loose Hinges But With The New 3DS You Got It Does Not Clicks Which Is Not Loosing!( Probably I Think Thats The Problem

  • Ok thanks anyway

  • I finally got a good one. The screen does not shake and it had a little play on the left hinge but it is nothing serious.

  • @CubanCutePoison

Did you just return to the store? I sent mine into Nintendo to repair. They gave me a new one, but it has the same problem. It moves EXACTLY like the first 3DS shown in the video. Very disappointed, especially now that i saw this and your 2nd one you got and how it has NO wobble... guess I'll be sending this one back to Nintendo too...

  • Can I buy one from you inbox me

  • @japaneseguy69 I brought it back to the store already. Sorry.

  • i brought my 3ds day one and its not wobbly atall and it doesn't click unlike my brothers 3ds which he got a few days later and from a different store

  • @MegaLookingatyou I did notice that the old one, with the loose hinges, clicked when opened. And the one without the loose hinges does not click when opening.

  • @luckyduck22 yep - its wierd :)

  • @luckyduck22 mine does not click mine just does a really reall quiet noise is my unit 2? ( I hope )

  • Can you tell me if your 3ds moves up on the left hinge please. I think that every 3ds I buy is defective.

  • @CubanCutePoison Neither side moved up/down. It was fine when the lid was closed. It was only wobbly when in the open position.

  • yes I had the same problem with two of my five 3ds. Yesterday I went to Target to buy another 3ds and this one has problem with hinge, if I push up on the left side moves up and the joystick makes a funny noise. I will be changing again

  • @CubanCutePoison Wow, 5 units! Good luck! I hope you find one that has no or at least minimal problems.

  • Interesting. Thanks for the heads up :)

  • That stinks:( What are you going to do with the other one

  • @lkirk98 Returned back to BB!

  • Thats weird, ill be checking mine lol

  • @MrPhatSlim Yea, I did a search on this topic and it's actually quite common.
