  • The memories come flooding from my childhood when i listen to this. :)

  • Children's movies are too shallow now. Parents don't want their children seeing things like this because it is too real and scary, but yet they use crappy story lines with little emotion and put in adult humor to keep the parents interested. Why not put in a real story line like the old school stuff that tugged at the heart strings so that it's good for all ages to watch?

  • In my opinion the soundtrack versions are not as good as the in movie version.

  • @fxnavarro I agree 100%, see comment above. >.<

  • Am I the only one who got a kick out of trying to copy all of frolo's ridiculous expressions? XD

  • BEST DISNEY MOVIE EVER ITS ALL TOO REAL

  • PIXAR has taken the place of DISNEY.

STEP UP YOUR GAME DISNEY! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU???

  • @Demov12

Pixar has been a part of Disney since 2006.

  • 1 person didn't have a childhood.

  • Damn!

  • Gotta love oldschool Disney's. They really could make some chill-down-the-spine music that modern Disney/cartoons miss.

  • i'm listening to these with intense thunder in the background from outside and i'm getting some ridiculous chills.

oh the magic of classic disney..

  • 1st song is my absolute favorite. That man's voice is just so eloquent and dramatic <3

  • masked puppeteer still kinda creeps me out. maybe more so.

  • We find you totally innocent... Which is the worst crime of all... SO YOU'RE GOING TO HAAAANG! I just lave that part.

  • "And some say the soul of the city's the toll of the Bells... The Bells Of Notre Dame..."

I love that rhyme. Flows so well...

  • i dont know whatchu guys are talking about. hellfire is a sweet love song. doesnt every girl want a man who thinks is soul is on fire for her ;D

  • Please explain why this masterpiece is no longer avalible on mobile :/

  • This would be an amazing Broadway musical! that is if it already doesn't exist...

  • This would be an amazing Broadway musical! that is if it already doesn't exist...

  • Lol every one here is around 13-17 and rewatching this cuz they didn't get it as a child.

  • I only saw this movie once as a child...I'm 20 now and I just watched it a few weeks ago, I fell in love with many of the songs, but I can't believe this didn't give me nightmares, or cause some other sort of damage.

  • i like how the music gets in good harmony and brings out the vocals in 5:00-5:32.

  • I remember when i was little, the words "you can never run from nor hide what you've done from the eyes, the eyes of notre dame" took me so deep that i believe it is this movie that triggered my respect and final understanding of my faith. You can do whatever you want, but at the end of the day, someone is watching, someone knows why you do what you do. You can lie and hide it behind righteous excuses, but it is your true nature that will be judged on the final day.

  • if you think about it Frollo is the worst disney villain. He killed hundreds of innocent people but most disney villains kill 0 - 5 people!

  • @dotastelpa123 Imo the numbers dont matter, but the reason for killing. For example...Charles manson killed 17 people because he's sick and crazed. George Washington probably killed hundreds of people. Who is worse?

  • My favorite Disney of all time.

  • Bells of Notre Dame!!!!! I visited Notre Dame cathedral and it was beautiul! <3 we didn't get to spend much time in it, but if we had gone up to the towers, who knows what might have come singing out of my mouth :D

  • OH man what happened to well composed music like this ones that where comprised of full ocestras strong voice singers who put power in there singing

  • I wish this movie was more well-known. I mean, it should be up there with Little Mermaid and Aladdin for sure.

  • I love the gypsy man's voice!

  • damn i love Clopin. and i also love phoebus!

  • That guy who voices Clopin can certainly sing high

  • I'm dying of fangasms here. QUASI I LOVE YOU <3

  • The beginning music gives me chills. I love this movie. Possibly favourite one ever.

  • i Agree what ever happend to disney its not very good maybe its because the old man died and left idiots behind to continue making movies

  • ITS A TRAP!

  • this movie is moveing music is awsome (judge frollo owns!)

  • i love the music of this film !!!!!!!!!!

  • I could listen to the begining song all day!

  • ah, my childhood flashed before my eyes! i am going to cry......

  • I don't get it. Frollo wants to basically go "yum yum" on Esme, and people love him? Or is it because of the fact Disney went there?

  • @charmed6057 He's the best villian they ever made. He was written incredibly well.

  • I love the chorus vocalizing in the background.

  • I Love this Soundtrack I love Frollo its amazing how this passed as a Childrens Movie, Today they barly get away with the mentioning the word hate in Disney

Its funny along came the devil and created Hannah Montana

  • @secondcitysaviour11 really dude its talking about buring down a whole city and he alredy killed some people in the movie these old movies (like this one) was the best

  • Hellfire FTW

  • heavens light is before hellfire

  • @richardvsdrizzt i know in the description when i wrote out the song and said 'as in order in the vid' i meant this vid not the movie! sorry for the confusion!

  • @misskennedy404 this movie always makes me cry i havent watched it in like 6 or 7 years i was like 5 or 6 last time i saw this movie they treat him so unfairly it always makes me so sad its worse than 9-11 i tell ya!!! OOOOHHHHH by the way such a lovely pic at 2:26 it sent shivers down my spine and i got scared of the only other guy besides the guy on naruto that scares the living day light out of me >=3

  • The score to this movie is simply the most brilliant Disney movie score there is. It's incredible.

  • Haha the priest went from villian to sort of a hero, he was Ratcliffe in Pocahotas i think, i just wondered if anyone else noticed

  • "And Frollo gave the child a cruel name

A name that means half-formed, Quasimodo

Now here is a riddle to guess if you can

Sing the bells of Notre Dame

Who is the monster and who is the man...."

    Best part of that song

  • "Who is the monster and who is the man?"

Gosh I love this movie. What on earth happened to Disney?

  • did you know that Stephen Schwartz wrote the songs for this movie?

  • @TheVVanderingStar politics happened -.-

  • @TheVVanderingStar tom rice who did all the lyrics left. Eisner also retired, who was the owner during the 1989 release of Little Mermaid to 1999 release of Tarzan. This includes Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Hunchback, Mulan, Pocahontas, Aladdin, and Little Mermaid and Tarzan. My mistake if I missed one.

  • @TheVVanderingStar exactly! thank you! disney has gone downhill...WHERE THE HELL ARE THE CLASSICS LIKE HOND?! and i mean the REAL HOND, not theat crappy sequel!!!! i mean seriously, clopin wouldnt wear that drab old purple tunic to a festival! HE HAS A FESTIVAL OUT FIT YOU KNOW! and you hardly ever see him....he really needs his own movie. as locg as its not craptastic...

  • @xXDarkness101Xx So freakin true. I am tired of the crap Disney has been handing out. Now I will admit that I like the kids movies they have come out with like Wallie and things like that, but non of them have meaning. If you watch a Disney movie from a year ago and a movie from the 1990's you will see such a difference, it's not funny. They baisically have no moral. I really really miss the old, fun, and meaningful movies they had. I just want to know what happened to the beautiful lessons :(

  • @TheVVanderingStar I agree. These Disney movies are called masterpieces for a reason... Theyre not just entertainment, its art. Im so glad i got to see these and experience them young. I remember when i was 5 or so id listen to this on my cassette... now im youtubing it in college! ;o Its sad to see what happened to Disney but.. Management changes, writers and artists leave, the economy goes to shit and they sift through the trash we have today.. but just wait, theyll return

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!! and music=))))

  • this movie has some awesome music:)

  • does anyone else like Frollo? or is it just me?

  • @amalish1 I love Frollo. One of the greatest Disney villains in my opinion. Yep, Frollo and Scar. XD

  • i agree. i absolutely love scar's character as well

  • @amalish1 I love him he is a real person with flaws and cruelties not just a romantic puppet... plus the guy who sings his stuff is awesum!! Hellfire is such a strong song!!

  • I actually think he is kinda creepy.

  • i think hes awesome :)

  • @thedarkroadtoheaven He really is...I get the chills whenever he smiles. It's actually creepier when he smiles than when he's angry...

  • @kelseasc413 Agreed

  • 3 of my fav songs. Good choice!

  • This was my favorite Disney movie when I was like 5 or 6. Man, it's so great to look at it now when I'm 15 and just go "whoa"

Also, the archdeacon looks like he's ready to kick some ass :P

  • the musical score to this movie is pretty brilliant.

  • Ah, I love Tony Jay (Judge Frollo). His voice is just so wonderfully sinister. But, I must say that Paul Kandel, our wonderful Clopin, is my god of music right now (well, after Alan Menken).

That high note he hits at the end of Bells of Notre Dame, it's like a drug. I just keep playing it over and over again. My roommate is just about to strangle me for hearing the same song about a hundred times in the last 3 days.

  • I LOVE the background music for one where Quasimodo's mother is running, SO MUCH!

It's called Dies Irae and my chorus class is singing it, I thought I recognized it when my teacher had us listen, I was right, XD

  • That part is indeed amazing, I wish I could sing it with my choir too :)

  • ahhhhh !!

i LOVE the hunchback of notre dame!! :D

    and clopin is my FAVORITE!!!!!

    he's an amazing singer!!

and good to know that i wasn't the only one who thought he was hott :q

  • I look back at this movie and realize the true meaning. I just realized how dark it really was... ;u;

I think this has to be my favorite.

  • WoW i love Clopin!! He is hot ;D

  • i just love this story..its amazing...u rock hugo!!:)

  • did anyone else use to have a slight crush on Clopin?

    anyone...?

  • What do you mean "used" to. =P

  • yeah i still like him :]

  • yes...

  • amazing. there will never be anything like it ever again

  • So many years and this tune STILL sends a little shiver up my spine. I love it.

  • i think its one of the best disney soundtracks ever, seriously... Gives me shivers as well, amazing!

  • I remember watching this movie in theaters as a little kid and completely freaking out.

I watched the film again recently and understand the depth of emotion in the film. This is my favorite Disney film of the 1990's (I have others).

  • i member watching this video when i was five years old back in '99 or '98 and now im fifteen its just so nuts how time has its effects on a persons life and just when you look back it can chage how you live because most people are just living in today and not remeber childhood

  • I love this disney movie, and also the melody from the entire film, wow!

  • i luv tis movie + its songs. i think, out of all the movies in the world, this is the most powerful with an amazing message tat we shud all grasp. i luv the first guys voice but, still, they're all amazing singas. YAY DISNEY! X3

  • @TeJap2 Yay OLD Disney, anyway...

  • @kelseasc413 the oldies r just the best. up was gud tho...

  • i just watched the movie yesterday and i loved it , i'm 16 so i didn't have that 6-7 year immpresion about it .... i understant the message of the movie and the why are the gypsis so hated , given that i live in such a country .... it's very sad but beautifull, dark and bright at the same time !!! an awesome movie

  • same here

  • tbh even tho I watched it as a child when it first came out and I still felt the darkness within it I always felt that the discrimination against Quasimodo was wrong and that Frollo was more evil than other Disney villains I'd seen before. Okay I was probably only about 6 or 7 so I wouldn't have known specifics but the darkness still came across to me. Maybe I've just always been a very different open person lol

  • I understood thier descrimination was wrong as well, but untill now, I haven't understood the dark meaning behind this movie. When I was younger, I thought it was just a movie about people shunning Quasimodo because he was ugly....now I know there's more of a meaning behind it. It seems so scary now... lolz

  • In recent times, I've understood a kind of moral from this movie about what a true monster and a true man is, as opposed to the superficial public idea of each. I've subsequently seen a similar theme in "Beauty and the Beast", as the key behind the spell (as a human he was a true monster, and in order to turn back, he had to become a true man). You could also say there's probably the tiniest of this theme in "Brother Bear" or maybe even "The Princess and the Frog"

  • Does Chopin tell the whole story or just the beginning?

  • Only the beginning :3

  • Where did you find the second to last picture?

  • lolz. frollo has a funneh hat

  • Comment removed

  • Go Church man!!!lol

  • damn man this shit was my movie!

  • Man I remember watching the movie when I was 7 I'm 18 Now that I look back... wow so dark. I love it more then any other disney movie now. This should have been in Kingdom Hearts lol.

  • I really wanted a Hunchback level in Kingdom Hearts too - it's so deliciously dark

  • i love this movie as a 7 year old too, and im 18 now too

  • That would've been amazing...

  • @Deadwarrior000 Yeah,I can really see Sora,Donald and Goofie usind straps and medieval clothes in this world :D

    Climbing the cathedral's towers,etc.

  • @Deadwarrior000

it's going to be in kingdom hearts 3d drop or something

  • @Deadwarrior000 yes, it should have. especialy clopin. he wouldve added megaloads of awesome

  • @Deadwarrior000 its going to be in the 3ds game Dream Drop Distance :)

  • haha i got back from france a couple of days ago, and we walked up to notre dame and i kept saying quazimoto lived here!!!!!!!!!

  • when u put clopin in like that at 00:16 i was all WHOA!! thanks for fun upload

  • no it's sing the bells, out there then topsy turvey.

    i think

  • have you ever thought of the message with "this is the tale of a man and a monster"? It easy to think Quasimodo is the monster, but he means Quasimodo is the man and Frollo is the monster

  • @KimOfDrac

great =) you solved the riddle!!

  • frollo is the best disney villan! But I think they made him look really old. I think he was in his 30s in the book

  • I don't think so. Because, Quasimodo was about twenty. In the end Frollo talks about how for 20 years he raised him. So then that would make him 10 in the beginning of the movie.

  • I would say late 30's at the beginning

  • yea they made frollo look older in the film, hes 36 according to the book tho, and yea frollo is supposed to be religious

  • this movie in my opinion is one of the most best movies disney has ever made i wish they went back to this type of style imstead of the crap they make now

also i thought frollo was a judge not anything religious

  • DR. LIPSCHITZ!

  • I watched the film the other day. It's been almost ten years since I've seen the film. It will forever remain a classic film. Just like the book. Tony Jay made Judge Claude Frollo a classic Disney Villain.

  • Disney didn't make Anastasia. 20th Century Fox did.

Also, judging the church on the old catholic church is not reasonable. They went power crazy in Europe. People came to America for freedom of religion.

And, Frollo did not want to marry her. He wanted to do her. Same as it was in the book.

  • This movie is the root of my extream Athiesm

  • It ain't the root of mine, life is.

But in the 10 years or so between me first seeing this and actually surrending the $15 for the DVD, I forgot how religious this film was. I like how it doesn't preach, but i think it does turn some people off.

  • I haven't seen this movie since I was little, how is it religious?

  • with the church's sentinels like Frolo, and their prosecution of people who they "see" as unholy, and the corruption of this power. for example *spoiler alert *Frolo offers Esmerelda the oppurtunity to save herself by marrying him, she dis-agrees thus "BURN THE WItCH"

  • ohhhh...that explains it!

  • It's not conventionally preaching, as I said, but it is set in a Catholic cathedral. The non-catholic characters are victimized by the clergy man (who, balancing that, is the film's villain).

One song is "God Help The Outcasts' with, among other phrases "... I thought we all were the children of God."

There are little references here & there.

BUT I AM NOT TRASHING THIS MOVIE.

I AM NOT SAYING IT'S RELIGIOUS.

It just might raise a non-catholic groan here & there. It's otherwise brilliant

  • I think we should draw a rather obvious, but oft-ignored, distinction between Catholicism of centuries past and the modern Catholic Church.

But yeah, this movie grapples with more mature themes than other Disney movies--which probably does turn people off. But it's kind of a masterpiece, in my opinion.

  • You're right!

If anything, the mature themes is what makes this film so special to me. It's like Disney's "Anastasia", another favourite.

Disney ought to make more films like these.

  • Anastasia is not a Disney movie.

    Sorry.

  • MissBobbi and DogLover ought to become teachers! Anastasia truly is not a Disney film. Shows how much attention I was paying to the opening credits!

    o_O

  • well at least the cristian is not the good guy for once

  • well technically...quazimoto was pretty much christian and of course the priest..and they were good...being a bad guy/girl is based on the character of the individual..christian or not

  • I suggest watching the movie again. Not only is it an amazing movie, but then you can decide for yourself what it means.

  • @BeardFaceShowCase

How can this movie be the root of your atheism? If anything is to be learned in this movie, it's that Frollo was wrong in his literal interpretation of the bible, believing it justified his genocide, and that the gypsies and the outcasts, tough they didnt claim to be catholic, were actually better Christians than Frollo. Its a hidden criticism on extremists such as Fred Phelps, who claim to be catholic but do the most unholy things.

  • he hits the most amazing high note. what a voice!

  • it pains me to think that disney came out with something as amazing as this, but then turns around and makes something like hanna montanna :(

  • disney didn't make hananh montana

    satan did

  • lol that's funny

  • i aim to please

  • @Ownagetothe5thdegree im using that xD

  • where did you get the music?

  • ya its an amazing movie but some parts are kinda dark for kids to understand kids wont get it until they are older then they're like 'holy crap! there's so much violence and stuff!" but kids think its funny i kno i did but it has the best songs EVER for a disney film

  • who else thinks that Frolo is a few sandwhichs short of a picnic

  • thats why he is such a perfect character

    he's completely insane

  • That's blokes a few sandwiches, several sausages rolls, a victoria sponge a 2-litre bottle of coke, three jam tarts, a tartan blanket, hamper, whole set of plastic cutlery and a swarm of wasps short of a picnic. MAD

  • thats perfect ^^

  • the movie is based on the book by Victor Hugo, and the gargoyls names are: Victor (smart one), Laverne (the girl), and Hugo (the funny one). i always liked that :)

    Clopin rules!

  • theres a female gargoyle???

  • well, i figure its a girl, in one of the songs Laverne is wearing a pink boa, isn't she?

  • ive read about the book and ya...disenys is way diffrent

  • it creeped me out when Quasimodo raised Esmeralda on top of Notre Dame and shouted "Sanctuary!!!!" ... really touching, I always get tears in my eyes on that.

  • Clopin is king of the gypsies...he is so cool who does his singing voice...?

  • Paul Kandel! He is so good isnt he!? I LOVE CLOPIN!

  • yea same hes the best character in this movie!!! haha

  • I love listening to this while drawing a very detailed drawing of The Notre Dame Cathedral.

  • Everytime I listen to Bells of Notre Dame, I always get chills near the end. The melody is just amazing! I wish I could play that song in band. I just love it! Disney made so many good songs. I like all of the old ones. And also: Clopin is my favorite. No other Disney character can do puppetry as good as him! ^_^

  • it gives me chills too! we got to play selections from the Hunchback for band and its amazing so i got the biggest chills while playing it i'll try to post the vid on here sometime
