@ssj4majinmatt No he played all of the games at the same time with one input on the keyboard. In other words, whatever he puts into one game, megaman does the same thing in the other. It's a TAS, which means the player used saves states and reloaded them and edited it heavily.
@cramernjen Wait how could he be playing all 4 games at once? I'm carefully watching the movements of all 4 megamans. If my calculations are correct, 1 guy is playing Megaman 3 and 4 at the same time, and another guy is playing megaman 5 and 6 at the same time.
@ssj4majinmatt Well, according, to TAS.org he is doing all with one input. I guess that means he is using only the keyboard, but he uses different parts of it.
@ssj4majinmatt I believe one person did a portion of it then transferred the save to another. That sort of thing happens all the time with TASes. One person gives up, and the other takes over.

you just destroyed my childhood in less than an hour. i couldn't beat any of these games when i was a kid...and you do 4 at the same time. tool assisted or not thats still impressive.
i love the fact that the encoder used stereo sound - makes it tons easier to watch the different parts of the screen - the encode for the new Mario quad TAS does the same thing
Megaman 5 is actually the longest the the 6. But if you TAS it, it goes faster than other TAS's because of an item you get after Star man that enables you to skip large sections of a stage at a time.
Wow. I guess this video invalidates any arguments I got in with my friends as a kid regarding which Mega Man games were superior. They really were all the exact same F'ing game.
Thanks Baxter & Yashar for trisploding one of my last, sacred, childhood memories the internet/Robot Chicken hasn't already forcefully buttloved.
And Capcom? I'll take my refund for every single Mega Man game (but one) in a cashier's check. K? Thx.
@alf717 It's the sound of MM blowing up, not a RM. in MM3, when you approach a spike at a screen transition, and hit the exact pixel of the spike as you change screens, the audio is fooled into thinking MM hit the spike for insta-death, when in fact he does not blow up. It happens again at 21:02
Lag is a key factor that made it possible to do certain actions without interfering with other games. The game will freeze sometimes for a frame, and during this frame, no input will be accepted for that game. During this frame, we are able to stuff like stopping a jump, shooting, or pressing start to go to the menu, without affecting the game where the lag occured. We sometimes deliberately created lag by...
Haha, there was several times that MM3 got a "solo" where it could optimize its input over the rest because they were all in sync on their boss encounters and finishes.
I noticed with Hard Man on Mega Man 3, you killed the guy in like 5 seconds. Is there some kind of pause trick like the first one? It seemed like you were just rapid firing into him during his invulnerability and he was taking damage anyway.
An easy way to do this would be to hit pause when one of the games is at a part where you can't pause, then beat that game. Then do the same with the next three. In that way you could do a perfect run, without tool assist.
No, I was not asking how this TAS was made, that is how all of them are made. I was asking what you have to do to put one controller into multiple games.
nah dude, if you do that only the emulator that is currently in focus gets the input. you need a program like they use to dualbox mmorpgs to send the input to multiple applications at once
You're making it FAR too complicated. The four emulators are actually just fed the same input program. That's all. He made one file of the input and fed it through the 4 games.
it's the same software and conception behind dualboxing. you get a program that echos input to multiple windows, sending each keystrokes to each application you have open
I don't really understand this... I mean, it's supposedly the same input, but they're all doing different things. There's a point where one will go into a menu screen, so therefore wouldn't the rest also be brought into the menu?
Pretty intense all the same, but I just don't see the whole "1 input" part. What am I missing?
