For the ad they've used old numbers as the 100% mark, so even though unemployment is at around 9.3% (9.7 as of last year), they're making it seem worse by using an old number, say 8.4, as their 100% marker. It makes a little more sense to do it with the national debt because it doesn't have a cap, but it's still a misleading way of beating around the bush that Bush added over $5 trillion to the national debt and Obama's added 1.65 trillion (as of 2010).

For the ad they've used old numbers as the 100% mark, so even though unemployment is at around 9.3% (9.7 as of last year), they're making it seem worse by using an old number, say 8.4, as their 100% marker. It makes a little more sense to do it with the national debt because it doesn't have a cap, but it's still a misleading way of beating around the bush that Bush added over $5 trillion to the national debt and Obama's added 1.65 trillion (as of 2010).

I work in finance and all this regulation makes it even harder to do any business for your clients. The problem is no new regulation it enforcing the ones currently on the book. The bailout O did was $1.5T the first year. Our problem is he has added $3.5T more and will continue to run at $1T per year for 10 more years. Period.

@SunDevilsCoach And no, TARP was not a mistake. First of all, the government is going to get most of its money back from it. Secondly, the government buying up those securities relieved a huge burden on the financial industry at the time. It instilled confidence in the market and stopped it from sliding even further.
Even if it (and other things like QE) don't 100% succeed, the cost of doing nothing could be much worse. It's worth running a short term deficit for a chance to save the economy.
