you let them sit in an open jar, bag sifter ect. while degassing with an Ethiopia you will want to let it sit for about 12 hours to get the full flavor out of the bean. If you are able to find a west bend poppery2 you will have the best popcorn roaster out there. You can typically find them at pawn shops such stores as that. keeping a timer by hand and a note pad of each roast will help you for future roasts or if you are roasting more then one batch at a time. One batch is 1-2 pots of coffee :)
That was a sweet video. Your cool demeanor and the even cooler Miles chart in the background really did it for me. I plan to find myself a popcorn popper and give this a try.
......I get my coffee beans very fresh still worm when I get them home,, I can buy green beans is it much better to home roast the beans I don`t know what i`m doing I had to buy #3 grinders before I got one that worked right ,,,,,
1st crack and 2nd crack are two stages of the roast. It's the sound of the bean cracking slightly as the moisture inside escapes. YOu should hear 1C about 3-4 minutes in, 2C about 2-3 minutes after that. You can hear them, they sound a little like popcorn popping. I always go at least a minute past 2nd crack, they just don't taste "done" to me before that.
The only reason I came here is because... I'm waiting 4 hours to try my first batch of homemade roasted coffe!!! Using the popper method of course. Great vid dude!
Hi! What do you mean by "1st crack" and "2nd crack"? I have a machine which can roast 160 gramms and I can only set the time/countdown and wait. Unfortunately, my self roasted coffee (from Columbia) has not a big/full taste. What am I doing wrong? :-(
not as much anymore. but i brew lots of beer!

Excellent vid. I like your idea of using the fan and a collander to cool them down. I will try that next time.

@ccastu that was great advice on that. I will have to remember it when I do my next roast also.

It's a well known fact that Miles was an avid home roaster.
