God...I just live and breath this song every day.......Stuart...best guitarist the world has ever seen.....SKIDS...best band the world has ever seen....ANIMATION...best song the world has ever seen...end of.
Ah memories - thanks so much for this. I loved the Skids, saw them at the Glasgow Apollo, in I think 1979. Don't remember ever seeing this OGWT set before. Excellent stuff. Stuart Adamson was an absoulte legend and seems to be the most ignored and under-rated guitarist ever! Still love the soundtrack to Restless Natives and often listen to it driving up through the mountains past Arrochar into Argyll. Never has music and scenery been so well matched!!
The Skids were ahead of their time! Richard Jobson wasn't afraid to sport some strange but interesting haircuts and clothes during the late 70's and early 80's.
I saw the Skids at a one night a week punk venue in York called the Pop Club.
It was 1978..Into The Valley was a top 20 hit, they did a great cover of All The Young Dudes, as well as flying through Of One Skin, Charles, The Saints Are Coming, TV Star, we stormed the stage during the encore, I shouted something to Richard Jobson, he shouted something back. Haven't seen this for years, it is still fantastic!
I watched this on my favourite tv programme at the time when 16 years old and I was in awe of Stu's guitar playing a legend who deserves wider recognition

I haven't heard Animation in thirty years. Good memories of listening to Peel on the radio.
And I haven't listened to new pop since OGWT ended in '87, taking good music with it.
