Aren't brits along with yankees the ones who bomb with DU shells. And now they yap and show what an disaster the soviets have created 50 years ago. When you are still doing it.
Isn't sad how countries test bombs, while indegenous populations suffer. Point a finger to any nuclear testing site in the world and you'll see that these sites are in close proximity to the nations indigenous ethnicities. In soviet era, Kazakhstan was a labaratory for the Russians & the Kazakh people were the labaratory mice that were experimented upon. Even now in 2008, in Semey, young couples are terrified to have children because they are likely do be born with defects!!!
TopGear is a TV show that's on the BBC so the people have their own views. But propaganda? Really? It's a car show. I just think Americans over react if they hear anything negative about themselves. BBC News/World News is one of the biggest News organisations on the planet but it is funded through a license fee payable if you own a television. So it does not answer to share holders or advertisers or any other interest group and is therefore widely accepted to be the most honest.
A lot of what they say is an opinion, they always say something bad. If the car they're reviewing is European or Japanese, they say nothing nothing bad about it. The Corvette is a good example, I think this was their favorite American car. They were comparing it to Lamborghinis and said "Lambos cost 70,000 pounds more because they're good on the track and the road, the Corvette's only good on the track."
I agree and said it is their own views but they slag of British cars too and in fact said the Morgan sports car looks like a pig. Remember also american cars are made for American market and do not appeal to people in the UK. It fact if you drove a Hummer in the UK people would throw rocks at you for destroying the planet. A covette is not really to European taste remember. But our BBC news is fare and balanced was the point I made.
Ok, but TopGear is WRONG about American cars!!! lulz I'm sure the actual NEWS isn't propogandous bullshit. I'm pretty sure American news is the same, but I don't watch it that much, it's too depressing, always a crime commited or somebody dying or getting killed...just not pleasant.
surely the reaction of atoms makes vast amounts of energy.. from the change of mass so what causes this energy to not be used and leave waste.. explosions that we dont control and utilise... surely depleted material can be used as a reactant to ??
pal, when you burn gas there's still some gas in the exaust fumes but u can't use co2 or water as a "reactant" for an engine. all the same with nuclear fuel
actually, you can, thats what reprocessing does. in the chemical reaction between a hydrocarbon and oxygen the energy comes from the fact that the H2O and CO2 have a lower bond energy than the hydrocarbon did. because of this, it only produces energy in one direction (algebra). however, Nuclear fission produces energy by the equation E=mc^2, thus, as long as you have mass, you can produce energy. once we figure out how to turn mass into pure energy, electricity will never be a problem again.
we are restricted by what is fissionable, just because something still has mass doesn't mean we have the ability to extract it. we need an isotope that when hit with a neutron will redly fission into smaller fragments who's total mass is less than the original atom.
Now, what if we could somehow convert all of the mass of an object directly into energy? one pound of... well anything (nuclear waste ;) ), could produce roughly 11 billion kW/hrs of electricity. Our problems would be forever solved.
To baad for them , i live 500 miles from chernobyl and i feel fine :) oh and 1800 miles there were radioation 9.4 times higher than normall - Imagine how is it in my country :)
if i was priminister of the uk i'd rather buy oil and gas from kazakhstan then from russia we are fueling a tyrant vladimir putin and if we dont pay we might end up like what happend in ukraine
Alex, you're being very rude and disrespectful. I am sure of the validity of my words, and all I can say is - try to look for some more info about kazakh history, because it turns out that you are just being a stubborn victim of misinformation. Good Luck with learning Kazak history
I'm not disrespectful to people, but I have no respect to those, who say that "you Russians colonized us, Kazakhs, and made everything to go bad etc. " So what bothered Kazakhs (and bothers now) - to make themselves happy now-days, when there's no Russia over Kazakhstan ? Yes, there are victims of bad things like nuke bombs etc., but not all of them are kazakhs... That what I was saying
Even the train roads were built the way that in order to get from one Kazakh town to the other, the route had to necessarily somehow cross Russia.
May be Russians taught Kazakhs some things, and I don't deny that (like Russian language and delicious pelmeni), but the price for it was too high and not worthy
I am assuming you know the "facts" from Russian history, and I am sad that Russian history cannot stop deceiving its own nation
well - of course bad things happened. But - I haven't heard about Kazakh scientists, that were educated in Kazakhstan that times... There were no universities that times in kazakhstan... And lots of educated people of late 19th early 20th cntr - got their education in Russia.
I partially agree with you, but why did it happen?
Because poor depedndent states just kept on being robbed by Rus', and everything was practically centralized in Moscow and Peterburg. (we can still see that trend inside of Russia, people out of Moscow and Peterburg are so poor and so willing to get out)
Well, going back to times before Russian influence, say 10th centuries for example, we have Al-Farabi (he's also on many Kazak currencies), Asan Qaigy for example....
Old cities were destroyed (now they exist only as archaeological towns) and new colonial cities were built instead of them. In 1920-1940s, there were numerous repressions, when Kazakh scientists, writers, journalists were hung and shot, that was mostly performed because of fear that nation would rebel against the regime.
Kazakh land was used as a supply of natural resources and testing ground (not only Semei, but Aral sea was used as a bacterial weapon testing ground).
I strongly disagree with Alexrach99...our history teaches us there were both advantages and disadvantages in colonization (and I am claiming it was colonization, because though parties singed the agreements in 18th century, Rus' did not keep its promise and did not perform properly, at least the way they wrote on the agreements)...Because of Russian occupation, Kazak people were forced to convert their alphabet from Persian Latin to Cyrillic, and lost most of their literature in time.
Kazakh people are smart and traditional. i myself am Ukrainian and lived in Kazakhstan for 3 years after i was born in Satpaev. anyway, i lived in this village that barely had running water, and the water that did run was contaminated. so Americans, before u make another joke about Kazakhstan and Borat, think about how u would survive in 120 degree summer heat and -40 degree winter cold without advanced technology!
nobody cared, cares and will care about Semey!nobody will pay, just like we don't get the money from Baikonur, where Russia again uses our land, polluting it,our president is looser, does what Russia says!! only US-youth can make change if we are honest and love our country more than money that Russia gives as bribery!!!
Borat is an asshole. He made it seem like kazakh people are stupid ideots with an ideotic culture. I lived in kazakhstan about 5 years ago and people there are MUCH SMARTER there than Americans. Its hard to admit it but its 100% true.
I would encurage anyone to visit Almaty Kazakhstan and see just how very civilized people are.
I think you missed the point of Borat. He was not trying to insult Kazakhstan but rather anyone in the west who would believe such rubbish. So in reality he trying to make Americans and Europeans seem stupid and ignorant. Seeing as you too fell for his joke, I would not be insulting Americans.
the origins of your opinions elude me .. but i can just about say for certain that they do not represent one country vs another with any fair and objective study ..
what americans are you talking about .. under-privelaged lower class societies ??
and what peoples from kazakh have you talked to .. particularly well educated when compared to the majority ??
LAWL, like Borat gives a SHIT. He's not even a Kazakhstani! He's just a lame Jewish "comic" who enjoys exploiting Kazakhstan. I can't understand why everyone finds this repulsive pig to be so hilarious.
Well, he is funny, however, not original. He uses many semi-eastern European jokes. Probably because his wife is from Poland. And remember, the crappy village you saw was in Romania, a member of the glorious EU.
But, back to the subject, everyone is dependant on eachother, and is somebody pays for something dirty, well they'll sell their mother for some cash. Crippling beautiful steppe landscapes for millions of years to come seems to be justified in their eyes.
I think you understood wrongly. Kazakhstan wasn't colonised with initial aims to use it like a poligon. Colonisation began in 18 century, in the times when people didn't even know about atoms. Desire of independence was always in minds of kazakhs. "Kazakh" itself means "freeman". Independence and testing areas aren't so directly connected issues.Explosions in Kazakhstan not only the russians shame, but of all the humanity.(rulers in USSR weren't only russians, Stalin for example was georgian)
Kazakhs were the last to leave the USSR on December 16. They didn't always desire independence, believe me, for some people the Soviet Union with guaranteed salaries, pensions, healthcare and education, was much better than uncertainty, privitisation of the 90s.
Russia became a successor of the Soviet Union, in pension system, treaties, etc. It doesn't matter if Stalin was Georgian or Russian - it was a policy of the Soviet Union. Though it might not be possible politically: Russia and Kazakhstan have good relations, plus there is no international body that could solve this problem. Maybe if you say that the humanity is responsible, the US could pay, as it was the Cold war time, and Kazakh people suffered because of the arms race?
U know who is responsible for all of this, Soviets are guilty! Other world is guilty for allowing the genocide of qazaqs in face of 573 nuclear explosions, time comes everything will be paid, blood in blood out, no fucking ass will escape from judgement day.
May be they were the last as you say, but you forget that they were the first who rebelled against that devil regime, remember December 16 1986 Almaty student massacre, raping and luting innocoent people for more than 3 days on streets of Almaty? Strictly big brother russian schouvinism in face of 10000 druzhinniki(volunteers of slav origin) and soldiers from all over USSR. It is later were rebellions in baltic countries Baku and Tbilisi...
The system u have described has been collapsed, it was over, people didn't see payment for months, others for years.
You as russian state defender should thank God that escaped so easely from ballast, otherwise u would be in shit solving all these crisisis going worse each day, with ethnical conflicts on borders as Karabah War. Gorbochev for Russia was inlike Augustus for Roman world, he made a very wise decision. Long life to u, dedushka Gorbach!
well, if Kazakh kept independence in minds, then why they asked tsar to defend them in 18th century ? why THEY joined Russian empire? (not colonized, as it's said in modern Kazakhstan ?) Also - Russia should pay for harm. didn't Russia payed with building ALL cities, ALL industries etc. in Kazakhstan during soviet period? Kazakh people learned how to build, how to grow stuff (not to travel all year round), how to do almost everything...
THe aim Both tszrist and communist russians was to take our land. For what Kazakhs should be thankful to them. For killing 2/3 of KAzakhs, testing nuclear weapons, buring nuclear wastes or even on the surface where Kazakhs densily populated; destroying our rich culture and language. Russians built no good cities where would a human being can live. Soviet Union put back development for centuries.
well - of corse 2/3 kazakhs lived nead semipalatinsk ? are you kidding ? That's a place with almost russian population (was that times). Rich culture ? what you had as a rich culture ? you even couldn't read and write! and now you're trying to invent your own history...
Firstly I feel as I need to correct you, kazaks shifted to latin alphabet from arabic alphabet by communists desire, in few years they forced us to use cyrillic, so we could forget our arabic scripted heritage.
He was talking about collectivisation and repressions upon intelligentsia and fighting in first raws in WWII, not the poligons you dumbass. Turk Kaghanates, Moghol Empire its all we belong to, even your own language consists on 1/5 of turkic words. We wrote and read in arabic manuscript and had own books and cities, Saraychik, Ashtarhan, Sayram, Otrar, Syghnak, Tashkent, Turkistan, Omby, Sarytau, Saray-Batu etc. it is all our history no need in any inventory
well - all cities you have now in Kazakhstan where built by russians. So good they or not - still you don't have other, built by Kazakhs...
And taking your land ? Where is your land - only in the south. And now you have all RUSSIAN territory (north, north-west and north east...) So you should be respectfull for that.
Orynbor (Orenburg) is actually a Kazakh town (used to be our capital), but now it's in the territory of Russia, or let's recall the renamed Volgograd? was a Kazakh town too... (FYI)....Astrahan'? another Kazak town, no in the territory of Russia...
we actually did have cities, if there were several kigndoms, won't u expect them to have cities too? Taraz, Samarqand, Almalyq, Esik....
This aint no Russian territory, you forcefully occupied this places, because your women, were bearing by ten children on a head, all these places for which our forefathers fought and guarded for thousands of years, this is where we belong to, u can see ancestors tombs and monuments spread everywhere in Kz. What you call russian territory is where we lived for thousands of years. You just ignorant guest who needs a good kick to his ass.
If not the WWII, you wouldn`t construct anything in kz. You needed to transform your manufactories far away from Stalingrad, in Aktobe manufactory-AZF just in few months was brought from Peterburg, and its not a single case.
You also supported jungars with arms and guns so that they could win upon us, Russia provoked the join.
Killing 2 million kazaks wasn`t too bad for kazaks?! We sacrificed 50% of ethnos just to settle down in a brutal ways, genocide that is how it is called.
If I understood well, Russians colonisated Kazakhstan and used Kazakh's once so pure homeland as their cold war nuclear testing site, than when the Russians lost their colonies, they got freed from all responsibilities of the consequences of their nuclear activity in a land that is habitated (by non-Russians), and Kazakhstan get blamed to have desired its independance in a case where they would seek compensation with the argument that, the Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore.
That country doesn't exist any more. It collapsed in 1991, that year kazakh people have got the so desired independence. Last explosion has occured in 1987 in Aktobe Region.
'What happens when nuclear bombs have distroyed huge swaves of your country and left it contaminated and unhabitable. İn Kazakhstan, once the Soviet Union's cold war nuclear testing site, the government's nuclear agency has come with a big idea to solve a big problem. How to clean up the place while not go broke doing it? Answer: To import more nuclear waste'

dont get me wrong .. america has an education crisis of sorts .. but its only viewed that way when you judge america as a whole ..
percentage wise we are quite high in illeteracy, and low in standardized test scores when compared worldwide with other first world countries ..
however .. the number of even post graduate educated peoples in US more than likely exceeds even highschool educated in kazakh ..
LordSpanky 4 years ago
only because of the sheer difference in population size ..
people have the same potential no matter where you go ..
but i will agree to this .. the american government lacks on its education programs and bills ..
much of the brunt of the impact, unfortunately, is felt in the large lower-class group of americans ..
LordSpanky 4 years ago
and that in itself gives us a bad world-wide reputation when it comes to education ..
but i can assure you this ..
the number of post-highschool educated individuals in this country is quite high ..
and our educations sytems at that level are very respectable ..
one last thing ..
do not confuse ignorance with intelligence ..
you said they are "much smarter" than we ..
i think you are confusing ignorance, even racial, religios, etc with intelligence "smarts" ..
LordSpanky 4 years ago
dont judge your country too harshly ..
i have dealt with many stupid americans .. and some of which make me ashamed ..
they do not represent the whole ..
and the country is changing drastically with each generation ..

They need to sell more potassium.

LAWL, like Borat gives a SHIT. He's not even a Kazakhstani! He's just a lame Jewish "comic" who enjoys exploiting Kazakhstan. I can't understand why everyone finds this repulsive pig to be so hilarious.
mercurialmoi 4 years ago
Well, he is funny, however, not original. He uses many semi-eastern European jokes. Probably because his wife is from Poland. And remember, the crappy village you saw was in Romania, a member of the glorious EU.
But, back to the subject, everyone is dependant on eachother, and is somebody pays for something dirty, well they'll sell their mother for some cash. Crippling beautiful steppe landscapes for millions of years to come seems to be justified in their eyes.

Ok thanks for your clarification.

Sakhabin 5 years ago
Kazakhs were the last to leave the USSR on December 16. They didn't always desire independence, believe me, for some people the Soviet Union with guaranteed salaries, pensions, healthcare and education, was much better than uncertainty, privitisation of the 90s.
leilatanayeva 4 years ago
Russia became a successor of the Soviet Union, in pension system, treaties, etc. It doesn't matter if Stalin was Georgian or Russian - it was a policy of the Soviet Union. Though it might not be possible politically: Russia and Kazakhstan have good relations, plus there is no international body that could solve this problem. Maybe if you say that the humanity is responsible, the US could pay, as it was the Cold war time, and Kazakh people suffered because of the arms race?
leilatanayeva 4 years ago
U know who is responsible for all of this, Soviets are guilty! Other world is guilty for allowing the genocide of qazaqs in face of 573 nuclear explosions, time comes everything will be paid, blood in blood out, no fucking ass will escape from judgement day.
Sakhabin 4 years ago
May be they were the last as you say, but you forget that they were the first who rebelled against that devil regime, remember December 16 1986 Almaty student massacre, raping and luting innocoent people for more than 3 days on streets of Almaty? Strictly big brother russian schouvinism in face of 10000 druzhinniki(volunteers of slav origin) and soldiers from all over USSR. It is later were rebellions in baltic countries Baku and Tbilisi...
Sakhabin 4 years ago
The system u have described has been collapsed, it was over, people didn't see payment for months, others for years.
You as russian state defender should thank God that escaped so easely from ballast, otherwise u would be in shit solving all these crisisis going worse each day, with ethnical conflicts on borders as Karabah War. Gorbochev for Russia was inlike Augustus for Roman world, he made a very wise decision. Long life to u, dedushka Gorbach!
Sakhabin 4 years ago
well, if Kazakh kept independence in minds, then why they asked tsar to defend them in 18th century ? why THEY joined Russian empire? (not colonized, as it's said in modern Kazakhstan ?) Also - Russia should pay for harm. didn't Russia payed with building ALL cities, ALL industries etc. in Kazakhstan during soviet period? Kazakh people learned how to build, how to grow stuff (not to travel all year round), how to do almost everything...
So it wasn't too bad for Kazakhs.
alexrach99 4 years ago
THe aim Both tszrist and communist russians was to take our land. For what Kazakhs should be thankful to them. For killing 2/3 of KAzakhs, testing nuclear weapons, buring nuclear wastes or even on the surface where Kazakhs densily populated; destroying our rich culture and language. Russians built no good cities where would a human being can live. Soviet Union put back development for centuries.
SeiMadiar 4 years ago
well - of corse 2/3 kazakhs lived nead semipalatinsk ? are you kidding ? That's a place with almost russian population (was that times). Rich culture ? what you had as a rich culture ? you even couldn't read and write! and now you're trying to invent your own history...
alexrach99 4 years ago
hm...well then how do we have Kazakh language and Latin alphabet, that was forcefully converted to cyrillic?
I am very offended by your rudeness and ignorance. Does ignoring history make you happy?
northernqyz 4 years ago
Firstly I feel as I need to correct you, kazaks shifted to latin alphabet from arabic alphabet by communists desire, in few years they forced us to use cyrillic, so we could forget our arabic scripted heritage.
Sakhabin 3 years ago
He was talking about collectivisation and repressions upon intelligentsia and fighting in first raws in WWII, not the poligons you dumbass. Turk Kaghanates, Moghol Empire its all we belong to, even your own language consists on 1/5 of turkic words. We wrote and read in arabic manuscript and had own books and cities, Saraychik, Ashtarhan, Sayram, Otrar, Syghnak, Tashkent, Turkistan, Omby, Sarytau, Saray-Batu etc. it is all our history no need in any inventory
Sakhabin 3 years ago
No, testings were made in rural areas, where no russian soul can be find with flare in the daylight
Sakhabin 3 years ago
well - all cities you have now in Kazakhstan where built by russians. So good they or not - still you don't have other, built by Kazakhs...
And taking your land ? Where is your land - only in the south. And now you have all RUSSIAN territory (north, north-west and north east...) So you should be respectfull for that.
alexrach99 4 years ago

You just ignorant guest who needs a good kick to his ass.

you are supposed to be proud of our motherland Kazakhstan and why do we need USSR back to our Nation Great
please dont be a disgrace to our Great Nation
Kazakhpyn94 3 years ago 2
wait are u Kazak or Russian
if you are saying that you are Russian and that that Kazakhstan is actually russian land , well then you are wrong
Kazakh people are Kazakh people, other people are their own Nation's people. please dont mix our people with your people,
Kazakhpyn94 3 years ago
If not the WWII, you wouldn`t construct anything in kz. You needed to transform your manufactories far away from Stalingrad, in Aktobe manufactory-AZF just in few months was brought from Peterburg, and its not a single case.
You also supported jungars with arms and guns so that they could win upon us, Russia provoked the join.
Killing 2 million kazaks wasn`t too bad for kazaks?! We sacrificed 50% of ethnos just to settle down in a brutal ways, genocide that is how it is called.
Sakhabin 3 years ago
If I understood well, Russians colonisated Kazakhstan and used Kazakh's once so pure homeland as their cold war nuclear testing site, than when the Russians lost their colonies, they got freed from all responsibilities of the consequences of their nuclear activity in a land that is habitated (by non-Russians), and Kazakhstan get blamed to have desired its independance in a case where they would seek compensation with the argument that, the Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore.
valveaudio 5 years ago
That country doesn't exist any more. It collapsed in 1991, that year kazakh people have got the so desired independence. Last explosion has occured in 1987 in Aktobe Region.
Sakhabin 5 years ago
No the last one was even in 1991.
SeiMadiar 4 years ago
Shouldn't Russia pay for it???
valveaudio 5 years ago
It was the USSR (with Kazakhstan as part of) who conducted these tests. But USSR exists no more.
Russians always tohught a different way - "a large country" => "lot of space to hide anything"
or
"a death of one person si tragedy, a death on billion is just a statistic"
frantav1 4 years ago
Stalins quote, right?
SpicyCracka 4 years ago
it payed already by teaching Kazakh to read, write, build, grow stuff and mine their resources...
alexrach99 4 years ago
they must as a successor of USSR and new Russia admires what they have done.

Kazakhpyn94 3 years ago
'What happens when nuclear bombs have distroyed huge swaves of your country and left it contaminated and unhabitable. İn Kazakhstan, once the Soviet Union's cold war nuclear testing site, the government's nuclear agency has come with a big idea to solve a big problem. How to clean up the place while not go broke doing it? Answer: To import more nuclear waste'
