My dad is making me learn acoustic first. It's so boring. The I pull out my Ipod, listen to some Jimi Hendrix and think to myself "WHY MUST I LEARN ACOUSTIC FIRST!?". I mean yeah my dad has played guitar for 30 years but why can't I learn what I want to learn?
@wheelman1324 Don't listen to him. Your going to lose interest if you play songs you don't like. I played acoustic first, and hardly practiced and played, as soon as I got my electric I could hardly set the guitar down, because I could finally play what I wanted. tell him your going to get an electric and go out and buy one. Get a good amp too. I recomend the marshall haze 5 if you like hendrix.
@hitsugayaTH10 electric. You need strong fingers to play acoustic or it wont sound right, also it hurts a lot in your fingers when playing acoustic (specially westeren with metal/kobber strings).
acoustic guitar is better for the begginer to strenghten your fingers, and after go on electric cuz its much easier to press the strings on electric and it will be a piece of cake..
well let me tell you from my experience you should really start acoustic because youll learn better i started with electric and played it well but i went on acoustic and went to n00b
so yeah acoustic lets you learn the skills well the only thing is you will have to learn the electric guitar tricks when u get it but acoustic is perfect to master the basics
Im learning an acoustic guitar first even though I'd prefer to learn electric just because that's all they got at my school, but after I get some money to buy my own guitar I'm gonna go with an electric. Can anyone recommend any good ones for a decent price?
well they say its always better to start with acoustic.. but you should do whatever you feel like doing... i started acoustic.. but just the basics.. and now im going for electric :P i think it depends on the style u want to have :P
it doesnt really matter which one you choose, guitar is really easy to learn but hard to master...as long as you put more effort onto one, you'll be better at that one...in short, choose the one you like
BOTH!!
