Radio 4 is traditionally a very conservative radio channel which I consider to be the best of the BBC.

This advert really does not fit with the ethos of Radio 4 i.e. scaring the shit out of their audience.

I think the reason this shouldn't be shown on tv is that it takes you right out of your comfort zone when maybe you don't want to be! If I watch a horror, I expect to be scared, and that may take away some excitement, but I'm ok with that.

I'm actually easily disturbed though, I won't sleep all night now.

yes but shockers like that are not exclusive to this advert, there are various other adverts which follow a similar line and also in almost all horror and thriller films there are shocks like this so you would have to take all of those films off the air, and remember some of them are very successful. If TV was doctored in this way then it would be a very boring thing as most succesful dramas and movies are successful and famous because they push boundries instead of sticking to the usual rules.

There's a less scary version of this which gets shown in the daytime (the alien face is different and it's a 'whoosh' sound rather than a scream at the end). Still a bit surprising this advert got shown though as it's probably a bit unsettling for some people.
