  • "we also have a blind patient here...” sigh. priceless, people ALWAYS confuse it or mesh deaf and blind together

  • bwahahahaha... been there!

"you mean that blond man who looks about my age? no, he's not my father." roflol!!

  • is this...is this real?

  • Brilliant! I love the "I'm being punk'd" part.

  • I'm a BSL/English Interpreter in the UK and I have loved watching these videos and laughing out loud as I recognise all of the issues!

  • @LaraLee12 I totally agree people just don't use the brains that they have! :(

  • "i'm being punk'd"

  • Too funny, and unfortunately so true. I'm in an ITP now and will be graduating soon- I can say this one part of the job I am not looking forward to.

  • BRILLIANT

  • I have been certified to interpret 1 year now and within that 1 year I have been asked ALL of those questions. So sad. People really need to think before they speak...

  • OMG....this is the most hysterical thing I've seen in a long time.

  • its always funnier when its stays close to the truth... and this is LOL all day funny. ahh yes.. the famous braille question.. yes we do get asked this... sigh

  • It's so funny because it's so true!!! Welcome to a day in the life of an Auslan interpreter, too!

  • bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • as a sign language interpreter in training, this just made me laugh so hard. people are so ignorant!!!

  • Oh, so very true. The only thing you missed is when you tell them you're a sign language interpreter and they start yelling at you because they think YOU are deaf. Thanks for the laughs!

  • Thanks for the comments so far! Glad you're enjoying it; funny to hear how it hits close to home for everyone.

  • @lynnekelly2000

Just loving these vignettes!! It's amazing what intelligent people will come up with in their conversations with you, the interpreter. These dramas, though obviously hyperbolized, and meant to be funny, are quite true to life.

  • True Biz! This is brilliant! I love the satire used -- it was great! Now we need this captioned so our clients can enjoy this clip too. Wonderful!

I am waiting for the sequel -- when she pulls her car around the front.

  • @bublueyes Thanks! It is captioned already-- if you click on the CC the captions should come up.

I hadn't thought of a sequel for this one, but I'm working on one for the classroom setting!

  • @lynnekelly2000 That's great! I was thinking one for the classroom setting needs to be done. Can't wait to see it!

  • @lynnekelly2000 Thanks for the info! Perfect!

  • So many times... so many times....

  • How sad that this situation is true-to-life at times!

  • Thank you for posting this. This happens in the regular! I am a nationally certified sign language interpreter and I can't count the times I have been asked to fill out their paperwork.

  • horrifyingly true. everything that this interpreter has been asked, i have been asked. it's appalling.
