Absolutely! One of the MAIN reasons I am producing these Chess videos is for myself. I know, its selfish, its arrogant, and its hedonistic, but hey man, they work for me! GRIN!
I just became a Student of you, dear Kerry. How many years do you give me to become a Chess Grandmaster too? Don´t say it! LOL! Thanks for your great advice here and in your facebook Chess Group as well! :)
@TheBackyardProfessor - alachabre probably means that there are 71 grandmasters and 119 international masters in the US. The ELO rating of an IM is +/- 2400.
I'm not a Master yet either. It will be a while. In the meantime I can share what I am learning, and discuss my mistakes as well as the good things I do in games.....
I have played two very excellent Chess games tonight that I am going to use to illustrate my next video with. They ought to be seriously instructive for the point I want to put across. This is starting to get very interesting and very fun. I sincerely do believe I am capable of producing some seriously informative chess videos....
@TheBackyardProfessor Well I applaud your intention. Have you asked a local master for an evaluation of your play and thought processes? I think you are playing at a level not even up to D class. I highly recommend you get sound advice from a Life Master as to whether your expectations are realistic. My own opinion is that your strategic thought and grasp of tactics is so weak that Master is a forever unachievable goal for you. But I am not even an Expert, so I could be wrong. Good luck.
Relativity was beyond Einstein at one point in his life. The moon was beyond Armstrong when he was 11 years old, etc. Of course it is beyond me right now at this time... But that does not mean it is impossible to achieve with work and determination. I appreciate your honesty too. The games I illustrated were played years ago. Wait til ya see my new ones I just played and am working up for my next video....
@alachabre Your feedback isnt a feedback at all. Either you commend the man for his efforts to share his knowledge to the world and improve the understanding of the game for patzers out there (or) you give constructive criticism. But,here one sees that you are discouraging the man and slandering his know how of the game. His attitude is what matters, the rest will follow with his zeal and determination.
She could have won your queen rook if she had move Qc6+ before you moved your rook. Then she could have exchanged queens and put you in an end game a rook down.
Queen c6 check would have won the rook at the begining of the 1st game

Personally, IMHO, I think the Silman book on reassessing your chess is like a college textbook, overwhelming somewhat. The summaries do help!

Do you find that producing your videos helps clarify your understanding of the positions?

My favorite tactic is to fire my laser blaster at my opponent under the table.
