No, it is simply not allowed to do that. If it were whenever a keeper had the ball people would stand in front of him and never let him kick the ball. there fore the game would not flow.
once the ball has left the keepers hand it is in play therefore it wasnt correctly disallowed because there are no rules saying you cant do it. it was quick thinking and it should have stood,

He's not a "pure striker", he was so much MORE than just a striker. He could also assist and score goals from every area of the pitch.
A "pure striker" is someone like van Nistelrooy who just scored tap ins 99% of the time.
