Hey Matt don't be confused. The Germans have to be told everything, they are such brilliant engineers that their minds are full, and therefore have no room for things like. How to drive the freekin thing. Your ok, them, not so much. It seems that they can't build a car without all those driver aids. Is there something in the beer that changes what was one a basic joy of life, to a reading exercise. I'm going for a ride in my Gt-350, hope I can remember how to start the damn thing.....

What car manufacturer builds a car now a days without all the bells and whistles? If you're dropping 50k+ on a machine, a 300 page writeup on how all the sub-systems work, seems hardly enough. I'd prefer a 3000 page complete tear down manual. It's not a push rod motor w. distributer ignition and a carburetor.

it has something to do with calibrating the compass in the rearview mirror. I've had several cars with compasses in them and it has never even occurred to me to calibrate it. I think it's only for if you have the car in northern alaska or southern chile or something.

if you start the car with the key, then take the key away, you can get in the car and drive it with no key.

Apparently not, because they wouldn't want you to forget and be totally stranded somewhere with no key, but there is an indicator light on the dash and dinging sound to remind you that the key isn't in the car.

Race technology is very important to our cars today, just compare it to the race technology in superstreet race bikes, It costs millions to develope one race bike and than all that technology shows up on a $10,000 sport bike that I can buy two years later.
