Reliant stadium is an impressive structure at best but it sure is ugly. The building may be functional but you have to admit that it just does not fit into it's surroundings very well at all. I look at it passing south on 610 loop and think . . . WOW! What an eyesore sitting next to the beauty and grace of the Astrodome. Such a shame that money wins over everything . . . as usual.

i am always amazed by these guys/gals. not because they jump though, thats the easy part i think but standing on the edge of something or walking beams like this with fantastic balance and or lack of acrophobia. just fantastic. what a rush

@trje246 that is because after doing it and knowing if you fall all you have to do is "pitch" you get used to it.. same with standing on the edge of a plane door while its open or sitting on the edge on the ride to altitude. He knows if he falls he has something to save him.

The lowest recorded base jump OVER HARD EARTH is in my home town of Sydney, Cammeray bridge. 168ft or 50.4mtrs, and that was hand held/go-and-throw!!! 50.4meters!!!! Thats only half a football field. And it was going back a decade now when equipment still hadnt yet evolved to the standard of today ...com'on Miles, u got more ball sweat than that!

@moto1666 That would kind of defeat the purpose of a BASE jump. The whole reason why it's so exciting is because they're doing so close to the ground, there is no room for error. If you're doing from a higher altitude than most planes fly when you're regularly sky diving, might as well just go regular sky diving from a plane!

Base jumping parachutes are gonna be more money because they have to open faster but your looking at thousands of dollars for the equipment.

ummmmmmmm, no. BASE canopies do not cost more money because they have to open faster. They are actually generally less expensive than skydiving canopies. It's packing that determines opening speed, not how much money you spent on it.

@zepper0800 The only thing that is different about a regular skydive chute and a " base jump " chute is , there is NO slider on the risers . You pack the chute the same no matter how you jump . I have been packing chutes for 12 years , and was trained by the US military .

@ravinex Well that's not true. There are plenty of differences. Sliders are frequently used in base jumping. Sliders are used on jumps 500 ft. and higher. Without the slider at those heights, the opening will not be pleasant. A terminal jump with no slider could snap your neck. Also on base rigs there is no AAD, no reserve, no d-bag etc. Packing varies also. Slider or no slider, slider up - slider down, mesh and sail sliders, 7 different size pc's - stowed, unstowed etc.
