  • The acceptal ratio of sugar to water is either 1 part sugar to 4 parts water or 3 parts water...NOT 3 parts sugar and 1 part water...sure the birds like it but it is not good for them...Do you still have any birds coming or have they died?

  • They are fun to watch.. Use 1 part pure cane sugar to 4 parts water. Make sure you clean the feeder when you change it because the sugar rots and the feeder gets that bacteria in it... Rinse it very thoughly....

I don't use the bottle type feeders anymore because they are impossible to clean. The saucer type feeders are the best and 100% easy to clean like the HUMM ZINGER...!!

  • @TheCinderella29 Bottle type feeders easy to clean: Stokes Select sold at Petco/base comes apart & bottle neck is wider than most/cleans with hummingbird sponge mop. Easiest to clean for both base & bottle is First Nature or counterpart sold at Walmart under Mainstays name. Base comes apart for cleaning & is smooth inside/bottle mouth is very wide for easy cleaning especially with an Oxo Soft Works flexible bottle brush. Most Perky Pet are the impossible, especially "Best One". NAYY

  • I love Hummingbirds =)

  • Yeh right

  • This was amazing to watch. Currently I use the red powder mix nectar, or liquid. I get maybe 5 o6 6 sightings a day in the summer. Do you think this would work for hummingbirds in IL? Thanks for the incredible video.

  • That much sugar (85%) is harmful to the birds livers and they will get sick.

  • That's awsome. I have one here in southern Michigan. It's last week of August and they are preparing for a long journey to Costa Rica and south Mexico. They need lots of energy. Thakns for sharing. :0)

  • I have 4 hummingbird feeders. I'm in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and our hummers come back around Mother's Day. I make my nectar a gallon at a time. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Mix 4 parts water and 1 part sugar, bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes to kill any bacteria. Cover and cool. Use the COOLED nectar to fill your feeders. DO NOT use the red coloring, the red color on your feeders is enough to attract the birds. This nectar can be used for Orioles, too.

  • @sfarrell1007 Thank you for your appropriate recipe. The OPs 85% sugar is terrible!

  • Beautiful!! I just bought a feeder and some off the shelf syrup and saw my first visitor today! I think I'll make my own syrup with the recipe you gave.

  • I love humming birds too. The hasn't been rain in missouri so i am gonna try this. Awesome vid awesome. ya more humming birds

  • Wow are they ever a friendly bunch!

At my camp here in Ontario the humming birds fight over the feeder like wolves!

  • This is a wonderful video! I'm a new Colibri lover! Where is this state?

  • Hi. This is in Menifee, California. They like regular cane sugar and cold water. Just fill any hummingbird container up almost all the way, about 85%, and fill it up with water, shake, wait until it is diluted, and they go crazy for it! I used to use the red mixture I bought at the pet store, but they didn't care for it half as much as the natural white sugar and water.

  • That's really nice! My family visited Lake Hope in Ohio this summer and fed them by hand. After that, I got a feeder, and now I have a few that come over. I made a video and uploaded it just today :) Cheers !!!

  • Great video! Amazing how humming birds there are...

I just posted my most recent video with the humming bird eating. I stood right next to the feeder and they buzzed right next to me. Pretty crazy!!!

  • Nature is awesome!
