As I recall, the initial initiative for setting up the IPCC came from the Reagan administration who wanted to make sure that the dominant voice be the real science rather than environmentalist groups and "cry wolf"s.
The IPCC is not the "proof". The IPCC gives a summary of what scientific publications shows and concludes with, and from these the evidence that most of the warming the last 30-40 years is caused by human emissions is overwhelming.
Why is it that nobody, not even with the likely support of the Bush administration, have been able to produce a similar report with scientific publications to back it that contradicts the IPCC report?
In fact, there are lots of scientific publications in respected journals that conclude that human activity is the main cause behind the recent warming, and findings from different fields add up.
Do look up the NSIDC data for the arctic, and see how wkwickham is bluffing! It shows a steady decline (3.1% per decade plus/minus 0.7% per decade), and has followed this trend for the last 30 years only deviating 2-3% at most.
But I guess you prefer to cherry-pick you point of comparison, and this year, it is apparently the 4 year trend (change since 2005) that counts.
And both 1999 and 2000 were colder than 2008, as was all years on instrumental record before 1998. A long time?

you would know that temps have been falling, you would know there is no proof that co2 drives temp in any way - you would know that real scientists observed high co2 levels when the planet was warm in the past using ice core samples

If the government could stop deforestation and just plant more trees , I think that the effects of global warming would slow right down. Well, the carbon in the air would definatly decrease. As I recall, the initial initiative for setting up the IPCC came from the Reagan administration who wanted to make sure that the dominant voice be the real science rather than environmentalist groups and "cry wolf"s.
The IPCC is not the "proof". The IPCC gives a summary of what scientific publications shows and concludes with, and from these the evidence that most of the warming the last 30-40 years is caused by human emissions is overwhelming.

Why is it that nobody, not even with the likely support of the Bush administration, have been able to produce a similar report with scientific publications to back it that contradicts the IPCC report?
In fact, there are lots of scientific publications in respected journals that conclude that human activity is the main cause behind the recent warming, and findings from different fields add up.

Do look up the NSIDC data for the arctic, and see how wkwickham is bluffing! It shows a steady decline (3.1% per decade plus/minus 0.7% per decade), and has followed this trend for the last 30 years only deviating 2-3% at most.
But I guess you prefer to cherry-pick you point of comparison, and this year, it is apparently the 4 year trend (change since 2005) that counts.
And both 1999 and 2000 were colder than 2008, as was all years on instrumental record before 1998. A long time?

actually I know quite a bit about them - I went up to Canada to see them and I found them very interesting and PLENTIFUL
they are the only animal that goes through a walking hibernation, they live on shore but during winter , they go out on the pack ice in search of food - not one scientist has said the pack ice is gone - in fact if you did your own research on NSIDC website, you'd see that the ice has grown 2 yrs in a row and is back to 1970s levels

a real scientist would make observations with the scientific method
you would know that temps have been falling, you would know there is no proof that co2 drives temp in any way - you would know that real scientists observed high co2 levels when the planet was warm in the past using ice core samples
but cause and effect hasn't been est.
you would also know that real scientists have NOT said humans caused the warming in the past - just that they think we contributed to a natural occ.

Environmentalists are the reason I am paying $4 for a gallon of gas. We have so much oil in the U.S. that you quacks have kept us from drilling. When hyperinflation kicks in and the economy collapses, I hope you quacks will be happy. Throughout history, the Earth has had warming and cooling cycles. It has nothing to do with mankind. Mars is in a warming cycle... the temperature is increasing per NASA....who are you quacks gonna blame for that....little green men?

You live such sheltered lives.. 4 dollars? In Denmark we pay 8.3 due to taxes. America is one of the richest countries in the world, and you are complaining about the price of gas when the price is actually what it was 20 years ago in other countries?
So, you may not be able to drive your gas-consuming Dodge Viper SUV around any more.. So what? Would it truly hurt so bad to drive a more enviromentally friendly, but slightly smaller, car?

The Global Warming issue has made Al Gore a very rich man. That fact, in itself, is not a problem for me. The problem I have is; Gore does not live the example of what he says are important to avoid distruction, therefore; he must not believe what he preaches. Typical Politician!

I agree, but since they are in charge of the amount of CO2 (amongst other things) it is allowed to let out by large companies and cars, it is first and foremost their attitude towards those things that are important! That's not saying that we shouldn't do something about it ourselves, that is also important!
