In May 1453 Islamic hordes surrounded Constantinople and blasted down the thick walls of the city with a huge cannon. Years before, the Muslims, town by town, conquered the area around Constantinople and put those who wouldn't submit to Islam to the sword. In the final months before the siege they had cut off the supply of Olive oil into the city. Residents had used Olive oil for light and food. Do you see any parallels between 1453 and today?
@SunsetSix fool read hisrtory..it was the crusaders who destryoed constantinople.. they were angry and fustrated adfter gettig woop ass from muslims s..so on heir way back thy wrecked constantiople..also bcoz constanople feused to provide moeny for their rediculous plans..when muslims arrived it was a wreck but they reconstructed it into a jewel.. during religous persection in europle surprise surpirse jews fled to ottoman rule constantiple for salvations.. so stfu u uneducated prick.
Besides, The Roman Catholic Church offered to send many, thousands of troupes throughout (Catholic) Europe to meet up with Constantinople troupes to fight against Ottoman forces, but only on a few conditions and that's King of Constantinople would bow down and allow Rome to control all of the church and land from then on! The answer was ... NO! The King rather die with what forces he had! The Ottomans WAY out numbered Orthodox and various other forces! Don't brag ... they won by numbers!

Oh! Are you implying that when Agia Sophia was ORIGINALLY and INITIALLY built was it to build a Mosque? Please explain .... did Muslims originally build this structure? Mmmmm ... interesting.
Although people say it is muslim istill see it as Christian! and if the muslims put in all the effort of capturing the whole city and its treasures and great buildings why dont they use it? If they dont want it I can think of a few hundred million people who will gladly take it off their hands!
You can descrate her all you want, call her a mosque if it pleases you, but the great cathedral was consecrated by the fathers of the Church and a holy Mystery happened, the Holy Spirit enterd the Church that day and made its home there, Jesus is patient, he is forgiving and loving, when he died on the cross his arms were spread wide open as to show how much he loved us all, upon his resserection he asked us to love oneanother and convert all nations, your time is coming real soon.
@stavros1511 christians jacked cordoba.. its only fair lol.. plus muslims contructed most of it.. the intial church burned down if u read history./. u r lucky we still keep the same name.
What's the matter Syedul7... truth getting under your skin? And learn to write English before you start spewing your Muslim hatred.

Islamic hordes then were just doing what Mohammad told them to--kill all those who won't submit to Islam. Last time I checked, they're still at it.

1453. If your going to participate in the debate, at least hit the right century.
