I've seen engines that have sat for 60 years start right up after a tune up, and I've seen a couple engines that locked after a month of sitting. I've found that more often than not, the engine will run.
There are a lot of variables involved with engine decay. It often depends on the condition of the engine, and oil when it's parked. Even then, you never know until you give the engine a spin.
it's nice to see that someone cared for it so well for the 30 years it sat. they must have keep it in a heated building or something. hope your enjoyin it :)
Hello friend, are you interested in selling your Cadillac? I am willing to pay any price for it. My intention is to import it from Brazil. If you have any interest in selling it or if you know someone who has one for sale I am interested in purchasing. Thanks
i remember my dad starting a 59 cadillac engine that hadn't been running for 20 years. again, fired right up with a little gas in the carburetor. do your research before saying it will 'rust and lock'...
@AloisHochwald I've seen them set longer than that! A little Marvel Mystery Oil, and flushing out the cooling system with hot water on a nice warm day will bust them loose just fine!
I helped an old man fire up a 1950 Mercury that had been in a barn since 1961 because the right side water pump went out, and the owner couldn't find one. Fortunately I know a guy who can rebuild them. One fresh gas tank, a set of points, and plugs, an oil change and a carburetor rebuild, she fired up just fine!
I think everyone should drive a hearse. My dream car would be the legendary 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood-Work-Body Hearse, like this one, particularly one from Superior Coaches. My first car an forever my favorite (until perhaps I get a '59) is my '87 Fleetwood Brougham Cadillac Hearse, also by SC.

@TerrorCine There are two in the same auction in pretty bad shape on ebay right now. pretty reasonable.

It will only rust if the engine was outside in the rain
God i want one so bad
oldschool619619 2 years ago
After 30 years stopped your engine will not turn, it will rust from the inside and lock.

Hi...I passed your message on to the owner, below is his response:
'

@AloisHochwald That's funny. Then why did my '54 belair startup after 30 years?

@AloisHochwald Not true if stored right.
MrCartman2578 1 year ago
Don't even, because I've disproven that myself. Glad to see I'm not the only appreciator of the '59 who didn't go all Ecto-1!

@AloisHochwald youre retarded if you believe that
bigbadbronco86 1 year ago
@AloisHochwald Depends on where it's been sitting. I've seen both cases.
TheSqeeek 1 year ago
@AloisHochwald your wrong, the engine is sealed o be water tight, it is impossible to lock unless it had a cracked block

Ecto-1 is an ambulance, not a hearse. What the ghost busters did to the car to make it into Ecto-1 is just wrong.

No it wasnt.
