  • I've seen engines that have sat for 60 years start right up after a tune up, and I've seen a couple engines that locked after a month of sitting. I've found that more often than not, the engine will run.

There are a lot of variables involved with engine decay. It often depends on the condition of the engine, and oil when it's parked. Even then, you never know until you give the engine a spin.

  • I'd buy that off you in a heartbeat. Can't imagine you'd want to sell it though.

  • @Uhthenuh Same here. All I have is a 1/18 of Landau .

  • I love when an old car comes to life again. Although I dont own one I love old hearses I hope you keep her original. Great video.

  • God, what I wouldn't give to own a car like that!!!

  • so much potential it has.

  • What a wonderful slumbering beast...

  • is this a cadillac 3 way landau?

  • it's nice to see that someone cared for it so well for the 30 years it sat. they must have keep it in a heated building or something. hope your enjoyin it :)

  • them old 390s never die

  • I want this car more than I want fingers...

  • That car is wwiiiide.

  • oooh hearing that sweet sweet baby fire up.. *grunts like Tim Allen*

  • awesome car!!!!

i just bought a 1959 cadillac sedan and i look forward to drive it.^^

  • Hello friend, are you interested in selling your Cadillac? I am willing to pay any price for it. My intention is to import it from Brazil. If you have any interest in selling it or if you know someone who has one for sale I am interested in purchasing. Thanks

  • @TerrorCine There are two in the same auction in pretty bad shape on ebay right now. pretty reasonable.

  • It will only rust if the engine was outside in the rain

God i want one so bad

  • After 30 years stopped your engine will not turn, it will rust from the inside and lock.

  • Hi...I passed your message on to the owner, below is his response:

    '

I couldnt care less what you believe, but the motor had new gaskets, water pump and new carb and fired right up..'

  • not neccecarily.

  • i remember my dad starting a 59 cadillac engine that hadn't been running for 20 years. again, fired right up with a little gas in the carburetor. do your research before saying it will 'rust and lock'...

  • @AloisHochwald That's funny. Then why did my '54 belair startup after 30 years?

  • @AloisHochwald Not true if stored right.

  • Don't even, because I've disproven that myself. Glad to see I'm not the only appreciator of the '59 who didn't go all Ecto-1!

  • @AloisHochwald I've seen them set longer than that! A little Marvel Mystery Oil, and flushing out the cooling system with hot water on a nice warm day will bust them loose just fine!

I helped an old man fire up a 1950 Mercury that had been in a barn since 1961 because the right side water pump went out, and the owner couldn't find one. Fortunately I know a guy who can rebuild them. One fresh gas tank, a set of points, and plugs, an oil change and a carburetor rebuild, she fired up just fine!

  • @AloisHochwald youre retarded if you believe that

  • @AloisHochwald Depends on where it's been sitting. I've seen both cases.

  • @AloisHochwald your wrong, the engine is sealed o be water tight, it is impossible to lock unless it had a cracked block

  • DAMN that is awesome!!! I am sure you get this a lot but, WHO YA' GONNA CALL? Yeah I know it was nerdy but true...

  • Yes, he does get that a lot haha.

    Thanks for commenting.

  • mean classic hearses[=

    i'd drive 1;D

  • I think everyone should drive a hearse. My dream car would be the legendary 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood-Work-Body Hearse, like this one, particularly one from Superior Coaches. My first car an forever my favorite (until perhaps I get a '59) is my '87 Fleetwood Brougham Cadillac Hearse, also by SC.

  • Mine is a 1959 Cadillac Ambulance. Converting it to Ecto-1 is the next step.

  • What is the status on that beautiful herse today??

  • Do you still have it? The 59 caddy is the best hearse ever

  • Thanks for commenting...yes, they still own it..I cant see them selling this one in a hurrry.

  • Sweet, i want a hearse so bad! It would be so cool to drive one around.

  • I want one here over the UK and scar some shit into people playing some WEDNESDAY 13 music

  • I want one wanna sell it

  • Umm...yes, you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for commenting.

  • is a hearse use to transport coffin?

  • that is so beautiful. i want one but maybe like a 1970 Caddillac

  • Thanks for commenting...probably a few 70 Cadillacs around I'm sure...good luck.

  • It's ALIVE !!!!!

  • The Ghostbusters Would Be Proud!!!

You Should Spray It White And Rename It "Ecto 1"

  • Interesting how many people have said that.

    Thanks for commenting.

  • Haha..thanks for commenting.

  • i'll give you my first born if i can take it around the block.

  • If those guys keep breathing that carbon monoxide they might end up riding horizontal in the back of that beauty!

  • I think that's the plan eventually.............

  • yapp maybe, but thats worth it haha

  • i would kill for one of those...it sounds like Death too :)

  • Ha Ha....Nice comment. Thanks.

  • thats it im stealing that car i dont care how long it takes im gonna

  • Thanks. My brother and his wife's car...just updated tonight with new vid and new exhaust sound...good luck with your 63.

  • sounds just like our 63 combo on film... the very obvious exhaust leak.

    nice car and good luck!

  • ...sell me this car! sounds TUFF!

  • I think this one will be a keeper for him...

  • Ah the car of my dreams!

  • Ecto-1 baby!

  • Ecto-1 is an ambulance, not a hearse. What the ghost busters did to the car to make it into Ecto-1 is just wrong.

  • No it wasnt.

  • A lot of different opinions on that issue. End of the day, it's up to the individual what they like. Thanks for commenting.

  • Most beautiful hearse ever built. I love '59 Caddies.

  • Sounds like pure music to me. God I am in love with that car.
