  • UH Oh! You weren't supposed to tell a soul what you did with those pinto beans, Lemonette! Did your son suddenly get a toothache when you posted this video? I hope not LOL

  • Hey GiGi!

I love your stories! They entertain my whole family!

Keep doing what you do best,

    Love Betty!

  • Interestingly enough...how people used to think and there is a fair correlation. The further you go back in time, the dumber people are. But if you want as solution to teething problems in babies, fortunately as usual, science has a solution. It is a product called "Bonjela". You apply this gel to the babies gums and presto, their pain is gone. Dunno if the USA sells this but I would be surprised if they didn't, at least something equivalent. Consult your pharmacist. :)

  • Well, I've never heard that one. My dad said "rub whiskey on her gums" & granddad said "give'er some laudenum", but that would probably be outlawed now! mc

  • your crazy......thats why i like you

  • Lemonette: I moved to Kentucky a while back and I'm still trying to learn the lingo. I love your videos and love listening to you and watching the world go by in the rear view window of your car.

  • You are very funny and entertaining! keep up your work!!!!!

  • What a bunch of crap. How does putting three dried beans in the dirt bring any relief to a teething child? You are right by questioning telling anyone this "knowledge", because it is absolutely ridiculous. First...we all teeth, natural process. Second, old wives tales are an explanation for misunderstood processes. If anything, put some bourbon on your index finger and rub the gums. This will give some pain relief on the babies part, and make your life a little less stressfull.

  • Chill out, my friend. This is just a little video made in the spirit of friendship and humor. You are taking things a little too seriously. :)

  • I was chill...I just wanted to make that point. Also, I suggest not ever telling another soul about the "beans method". That kind of remedy would not have been acceptable in the 19th century.

  • i love your stories :)

  • My babysitter just poured beer in my bottle. But I was up most of the night with gas.

  • Granny and Big Mama always said to rub whiskey on my girls' gums when they were teething but this is what worked for them: Take a ripe banana and cut it in half (peel and all), put in a freezer bag and freeze over night. The next time the baby is miserable teething, take one of the banana halves out, cut off the dark end and peel it (peel will be black from freezing). Put the baby in the high chair with the frozen banana and let him gnaw and suck on it until it's gone.

  • LOL, and if that doesn't work, there's always chewing toys and baby orajel. :D Lemmonette! Another video lacking the ever comforting "Love you guys" at the end. :( That's part of your character. I love that part.

  • I am uploading a video right now, I promise you I say it in this one!

  • Good. :D LOL, Thanks for responding. I'm giddy now. You made my night.

  • Now Four My Favorite "Sourpuss" ;0) Lemonette. I Put Onions On Open Sores. It Helps draw Out Any Infections That Might Be "Fixen" To Attack The Wound. And By The Way; I Bet You Are A Hoot To Spend An Evening With. Thanks For All the Wonderfull Videos.

  • OK, Tell Me; Did I Wander Off Here A Bit; Or After You Bury Them; Do You Do Anything Else? I Could Understand If The Beans At Sometime Went In The Baby's Mouth, And Secreated Some Kind Of Natural Pain Releiver, But What The Firetruckin Good Do The Do In The Ground On the Southern Most Part Of My Building?

  • GOOD POINT.

    Moomay

  • I hope that you don't mean that you are going to stop being "HERE" in my comments. Don't make me cry, man. I will be a snotting fool if you quit saying "MIKMA WAS HERE" !!! Love you~~~Lanette

  • SURELY YOU JEST.

    Moomay

  • Heck,We were poor,We had to eat our beans,no wonder I hated my little brother.

  • At this point, I dont care what anyone thinks, I am on my way to the store. Gracie is having problems too!

  • my mother dabbed her finger in bourbon and rubbed it on my gums. then again, i grew up a bit in kentucky. ;)

  • you got to love the old Pagan traditions...they do work....believe...thanks Lemonette

  • I love your videos!

    You are a sweet heart.

  • If you put the child in a room with the door closed and the tv turned up just a little louder than the crying, you should be ok. I heard that from Dr. Phil the other day. :)

  • i'VE NEVER HEARD OF THAT. lol. My son wouldn't sleep- he had his days and nights mixed up. My mama told me to flip the baby over. I was scared, because of his soft little neck and head. So, I carefully laid him on his belly and flipped him gently to his back. He never had another problem.

  • Ahh, Lemonette. Where were you when my little boy was teething?? :)

  • I have heard vanilla extract does well on the gums as well...I am sure its the alcohol...but that isnt enough to hurt a soul ;)

  • OMG it's witch craft....BURN THE WITCH!! :-P

  • trust me as a mother of 3 we get desperate enough during those teething months that we will do anything!!!!

Love ya lemmonette, that was just too precious!!

  • I just rubbed a little Jack Daniels on their gums. Seemed to work pretty good. of course I had to drink what was left in the shot glass, that might have helped a bit also.

  • Is that where our pinto tree came from?

  • Hahaha. I'll try and remember this when I have chilren.

  • Hmmm this reminds me of a few other old wives tales... Lemonette how did you become such a phreckin genius??!!!

  • It's a phreckin gift.

  • HAHA!

  • I feel like I am hearing the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.lol Now my dad says his parents use to put whiskey on their gums.:)

  • Noahsark.....That Is What My MIL Suggested.....We Didn't.....No Paragoric Either. My Daughter Got 6 Yes 6 In One Week, My Grandaughter Got Her First At 4½ Months. But My Son Was The One That Gave Us Fits.....Of Course That's How He Came Home From The Hospital. He Was Born With The Fits.

  • Sounds a lot like the old nature based magic from the British Isles. I've been doing research for a book I'm writing and a lot of those spells involve burying something symbolic. For instance, the beans would probably represent the baby's teeth pushing through the gums. GREAT video!

  • Lemony Lemonett you have solved a great mystery for me. I have been wondering where in the heck that ole bean tree came from that stands on my southern most corner...Bless your heart! Luv Ya - smootch smooth.

  • You know sometimes things work for no reason...If I had known this I would have definitely have tried it. Let us know if it works...:)

  • Huh? ROFL..... will tell my daugther who is going through this too, however i have my doubts. Love ya Lemonette.

  • I was raised in the North, but now live in the south and one of my most fav. phases is "Bless your heart." It just makes me smile. :o)

  • Interesting.

  • Loved the video but i bet Bostorican1969 doesnt do it. Also i bet the smootching and rocking that you did was what did the trick really!

  • That's such odd advice! I've heard a lot of old wives tales from the south since my momma's from Florida and my daddy's from Texas, but I hadn't heard that one yet! Oh, and my momma uses the phrase "bless 'er pea-pickin' lil heart"! ::giggling:: You're a crack up, another jem!

  • Thank you so much Queen,,I will try that,,Actually I would try aything at this point,, :o),,Very Nice to se you again!
