Notice how all the people who come in, in defense of religion in all videos against it, they all say the same thing "Prove us wrong". Notice how religion (*ALL* religion) has anywhere 2-6.000 years to prove its case, and still hasn't.

And notice how people claim, angrily and arrogantly that their religion is infallible and divine, and commits acts of violence in the name of it. Notice then, that if the fundamental values of your religion were peaceful, you would get peaceful fundamentalists.

Notice how Hitchens can't defeat a particular teaching of the Catholic Church. He largely points out sins of individuals. The teaching of the Church, being an infallible and divine source of truth (let's see anyone prove otherwise), is in itself an enormous source of goodness for the world, since it provides a moral and eschatological goal for which all Catholic ought to strive.

Why would any serious person follow catholic teachings when they find out the horrific crimes committed by it's absurd teachings and deluded preachers. Just baffling.

like i said the church has been thru much worse. and we will go thru it again. a catholic priest once was arrested for rescuing jews in rome 1944. the nazi interagator said y did u do that? the catholic priest answer was "the same reason y i will probably rescue u from the allies!!!!!!! the nazi laughed... sure enuf. about 6months later the priest hid the nazi..... true story

@lamlyn the Pope is the Roman Catholic church... the priest the nuns and the bishops are not the Roman catholic church per se. Do u understand that the Vatican exist for one reason.... for the POPE... the Pope owns the Vatican ! the pope owns his own country. ... there are roughly 3000 bishops in the world... if they all vote in unison to lets say let women be priest.. the pope by himself can and will over ride them.. .. that is CATHOLICISM..

Yes I know the Pope is the head of the church, the state, and dictates church policy, but i'm having to repeat myself by saying..again!...why follow a man like the Pope when his teachings are morally questionable...or do you think it rational and intelligent to follow a bigot? I don't know about you but in my view there's something a bit shady about that!

@lamlyn no i am not really struggling with this. Who said he is a bigot? He is not morally questionable to me. Jesus set up the pope so I am pretty comfortable with it. Do you believe in Jesus? Just curious. I talk to a lot of people on here so i dont know everyones background.

@singapore7773 Are you kidding? Have you heard much of what Josef Ratzinger has said recently? What do you think of how he has dealt with child rape and holocaust denial within his own church? What do you think of his views on homosexuality and his hypocracy over materialism? I don't believe in Jesus, no. Though, I'm not too sure what it has to do with my questions. I don't believe in a god or messiah or creation or the divinity of man (and women).

@lamlyn knowing weather u r christian or not gives me perspective is all, no problem. Yes i am catholic so yes i listen to J. Ratzinger. In fact my dad use to get letters from him when he was cardinal. Dealt with child rape.? i think he has done horrible. I think his views on homosex. are spot on. I have no evidence of his hypocracy on materialism. Long Live the Pope
