And the other question of why this oil was not vacuumed from large vessels immediately.  (They have the ability to separate the seawater.

-Maybe they believe a higher price of oil seems in their best interest.

They decided to drill baby drill a mile below the ocean surface, and thought a bit more about their precious profits than safeguards. There are way too many factors / dangers of drilling so far below the surface. In the end it is the average citizen that will pay for this disaster. The fragile ocean ecosystem already has and will deal with this for a century or more. There is a question of the concrete that was supplied / ordered used by Halliburton (turns out they cut corners).
