What has the pope to do with Irish Republicanism? Ask any real Republican and they will tell you, the Catholic church has been as much the enemy of Republicanism as the British state, they always sided with the rich which in Ireland was always the British rulers. Ask any real Republican and they will tell you, the Catholic church has been as much the enemy of Republicanism as the British state, they always sided with the rich which in Ireland was always the British rulers. They openly condemned the PIRA actions without even mentioning the actions of the British. Catholicism has nothing in common with republicanism and the sooner that's realised the better.

I know they did, carpet bombing wouldn't have been out of the question if we weren't so geographically close, and also I don't believe the yanks and free state would have stood for it. If it weren't for the actions of the British the recent phase of the struggle wouldn't have been as large or as long.

Every problem that comes along, the Irish will look for a reason to blame the English, Oscar Wilde said the Irish will never be at peace unless they are at War with teh English.
