Never had much time for this man but this interview came up on my suggestions and have to say my opinion has changed. A shame that he's as dead as the frozen meat products of a similar name.
I don't know that that's unique to Manning. A friend of mine was a well known comedian who, outside of his professional appearences, was painfully shy and so terrified of meeting new people and not living up to their expectations that he would never stick around clubs or TV shows after his sets.
I never would have applied the word "sad" to him before my friend's death but the stories that came out about him after he passed, and they always do, sure seemed to suggest it.

I don't know that that's unique to Manning. A friend of mine was a well known comedian who, outside of his professional appearences, was painfully shy and so terrified of meeting new people and not living up to their expectations that he would never stick around clubs or TV shows after his sets.
I never would have applied the word "sad" to him before my friend's death but the stories that came out about him after he passed, and they always do, sure seemed to suggest it.
