  • I get chills from this trailer

  • Love this trailer

  • It gets me everytime..

  • Best trailer ever.

  • @omgyest2 You don't get to watch a lot of trailers, do ya?

  • Fuck you, fuck you, FUCK YOU for not delivering on this promise, Singer.

  • The first Chris Reeve Superman movie was great. But I want the next Superman movie to be original.

  • great trailer but the only really good scene in the movie is the plane scene..

  • best trailer ever for a disappointing movie

  • Great movie.

  • INCREDIBLE TRAILER, I actually rather like Superman returns. it is a bit needlessly long, and there should have been a super villain for him to fight along side Luthor, In my opinion, its actually interesting they didn't do that, but thats my personal opinion. If Superman Returns was superman 3, we would have an amazing trilogy of movies since this one deals with the possibility of superman dying to save the human race, and passing the torch to his son, This trailer brought a tear to my eye :'(

  • The trailer for "Man of Steal" Better be more epic then this!!!

  • One of the best trailers ever! Makes you want to cheer for the human race!

    Then the film came...

    Oh what a letdown!

  • @ZORBO85 watch?v=mNAx7yIjSRg

SELLING SUPERMAN RETURNS MOVIE COSTUME !!!

  • What a great trailer.

  • Comment removed

  • @ZORBO85 It's not a sequel. Superman Returns was a sequel, they're re booting the whole franchise.

  • If only the movie was as good as this trailer.

  • @BOHUNCAS It was.

  • @BOHUNCAS The movie was as good as the tailer

  • I honestly forgot just how good this trailer was.

  • I was just about to cry.

  • A trailer that stirred you to the core for a movie that made you sick to your stomach.

  • AS a teaser trailer it sent a shiver down my spine and the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, unfortunately the movie never quite lived up to the expectations.

  • As a film Superman Returns was a terrible depiction of Superman IMO but I would be lying if I said the teaser didn't give me chills the first time I saw it.

  • SUPER TUNE

  • Yeah this trailer basically rapes the entire history of film advertising without even really breaking a sweat

  • i wish i was superman :(

  • Lots of other people have said it, but it's seriously bizarre how fantastic this trailer is and how it just completely nails the vibe a superman movie should have: epic, hopeful, majestic. The movie itself was decent but in no way lived up to the promise of this trailer. Why is it so hard for them to get superman right these days?

  • @reboandzooty Totally agree ... For me the biggest problem was YET again forcing viewers to endure Lex as the main villain ... He is a fine character but had been utterly overused, this was a perfect opportunity to take Supes to an epic level, have him facing Gods and Monsters ... Not the bald guy again!

  • Great trailer to bad the movie sucked

  • @liamkalel TRUE TRUE TRUE

  • The greatest trailer of all time

  • i got chills

    epic trailer

  • this and the first movie are the best of the superman series . in my opinion .

  • Amazing teaser. This is how teasers are supposed to be made. Goosebumps like crazy especially when the horns kick in.

  • I hope the MAN OF STEEL have a teaser and trailer like this!! Gossebumps all the way!!!Superman deserves an awesome epic movie!!!

  • epic trailer

    got goosebumps

  • Why can't Superman enjoy the kind of success that Batman and Spider Man do? Superman was the first superhero ever, and is also the greatest. For crying out loud, Harry Potter and Twilight are more popular. I just cannot understand why Americans don't embrace Superman like we used to.

  • I like the part where Jor-El says "they can be a great people, Kal-El," at 1:04 while a group of people look up.

  • They can be a great people Kal-El, they wish to be, they only lack the light to show the way, for this reason above all, their capacity for good, i have sent them you, my only son!

  • When I first heard this I was so excited. I used to watch the first 2 Superman films every week when I was a kid, I was obsessed.Still my favourite superhero despite being hugely unnapreciated. And while 'Returns' wasn't the best, I loved Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth, but there is just a large part of me that wants to see Superman cut loose on some villain and show just how awesome he is.

  • This teaser was better than the movie.

"For this reason Kal-el..I have sent them you...my only son"

  • @JohnnyMac2237 completely agree

  • awesome trailer !! but the movie sucked !!!!

  • Great teaser trailer......yet, very bad movie.

  • this movie fucking blew, but its funny how the teaser still gives me chills. It has to be Williams' music

  • @TehQuestion75

Yup...John Williams has that impact on many ears.

    Great teaser and mediocre film.

  • @TehQuestion75 i blame the writers the actors were perfect

  • I felt the Routh and Bosworth looked too young. It was not because of bad acting, as they were both good; I just think that, based on their age and looks, they should have been in a reboot of the series, since Superman Returns takes place after the second film.

  • One of the greatest teaser trailers I ever saw! Too bad the movie sucked!

  • C'est quoi la musique ?

  • man, greatest trailer ever....

  • @jackanthem90 Nawt b4 u taste deez nutz!!!

But seriously, fanboys are, by defintion, tasteless. So I wouldn't be going around struttin' my opinion in that fashion, child.

  • The trailer was so well put together with the score and Brando's voiceover, but the film ultimately disappointed I'm sorry to say.

  • @smlshin Seriously it was one of the most epic trailers I have ever seen but the movie was such a disapointment

  • Routh wasnt given a fair chance...he still makes this movie watchable for me, if this movie was only as epic as this paticular trailer we would have had the greatest hero movie ever with the 2nd perfect or 3rd perfect cast as superman matched only by Christopher Reeve and George Reeves

  • They shoulda kept Routh, and built upon this Superman. Another actor playing Superman is ridiculous. There was some much potential here.

  • @scottgomez1

I agree. I didn't like Returns all that much, but I think it had potential for a really great sequel. They could have done something really different with the same cast.

  • This is probably my all-time favorite trailer to a movie. I was so excited for this movie once I saw it. I wish Routh could return for the next, but too late now.

  • Definitely one of the best teaser trailers in history. Movie fell a bit short in terms of the wowing us like never before factor. Superman needed more of a challenge not another real estate scam. Great movie though

  • this is how everyone reacted after they saw the trailer:

    chills, goosebumps, nostalgia, anticipation;

then the movie: 'What the fuck!?'

  • "They only lack the light to show them the way" gave me chills. Original classic. Superman will never die! Love it!

  • @TwineLightMedia it will never die because its a film and they don't die ever

  • @AzogTheOrc Yes thank you for your sarcasm. It wasn't needed you tool.

  • Greatest teaser trailer I've seen in a long long time...

  • Definitely no biblical allusions here. No sir.

  • Brandon Routh had great potential, the trailer was superb but the film what poor. The film was too wet.

  • This movie didn't suck, the only problem is the people was tired to see superman fighting lex luthor again, they want to see superman fighting metallo, darkside or someone with the same strength, soon will come.

  • @darthpibe Amen Darthpibe.. Great movie, just that director Singer was too in love with Superman I and Superman II, and didnt do enough original things.. Should have listened to fans and use Darkseid, Braniac or Doomsday or Mongul and War World.

  • Good lord, John Williams Superman score is too amazing

  • The chills this trailer gives me is ridiculous! lmao. Brando speaking is just fenominal. This movie was kick ass forget a reboot i want a sequel!

  • epic traler

great speech when the planet is desroyed, all those deaths are not in vain..

Because the Last Son of kryton becomes the greatest hero of all time

  • If only the movie was as good as this trailer!

  • Right you are rvsaraiva!

  • I have the theatrical poster of him floating, Christ-like, above the Earth, over my kitchen table. It's so lovely. I don't know why so many people hated this film. I loved it.

  • @darkprose Here are my reasons. Also, as much as I enjoyed Brandon Routh, he looks way to young to be superMAN. Lois is just WAY to much of a bitch in this, I don't see what ANYBODY would see in her, much less Superman. Very little intereaction between hero and villian. But my biggest compliant is the movie is a 2 hour set up for a 5 minute payoff. How much of the movie is Lex trying to make his island, just for Superman to throw into space in 5 minutes=Lame.

  • @ryano2099 I could not agree with you more, Lois was not charming and all we got was a lot of incessant whining from her. The two exceptional Superman films had their relationship as one of the core plot and character elements.

  • Superman is vegan.

  • @riceball23 Nope. Clark Kent ate a roast-beef sammich in this shitty film.

    Vegan status: DENIED.

  • @SPQRImperator lol call the vegan police!

  • EPIC

  • Greatest teaser trailer for a movie. Hands down.

  • @odnamrabackwards Maybe. But check out the teaser trailer for Terminator 2.

  • Superman is Jesus confirmed!

  • I loved this trailer, liked the movie and basically (despite fan love/hate) think that a low ish big budget version of Smallville would be a safe studio bet that would bring the fans and could make some serious superman bucks

    cheers

  • This may represent the highest ever ratio of quality of trailer:quality of movie.

  • @synquantro, watchmen had pretty high ratio too haha

  • @synquantro Very close, but I think that honor goes to Max Payne.

  • @synquantro The may represent the greatest quality of trailer to most disappointing movie EVER. This movie did NOT match up to the potential presented in the trailer.

  • One of the best teasers/trailers i've ever seen.

  • man, haven't seen this in a while! really love how epic it was, with marlon brando's voice and the krypton theme music playing in the background! just awesome! i remember the 1st time i saw this, and it got to the scene w/superman hovering above the earth's atmosphere, i almost cried b/c i just started remembering christopher reeve when he played the role...by the way, love "superman returns"! i thought it was great!

  • ok how can i get the song for this? anyone know?

  • @dreagus001 i got it off limewire

  • Comment removed

  • @dreagus001 It is called "The Planet Krypton" by John Williams.

  • @ramiroalchemy thanks!

  • @dreagus001 Superman Soundtrack: the Planet Krypton

  • This trailer was everything the film wasn't. (Although I did like Brandon Routh in the part.)

  • I think the reason why this movie didn't turn out well was because people wanted to see a continuation/reboot of Superman not a visit/homage to the first 2 movies (which are amazing btw). So it's not a matter of hate, it's just disappointment.

And there's plenty of other movies that do this like; Terminator Salvation (good), Aliens vs Predator (sucked), The Incredible Hulk (awesome), and Predators (f**king sick)

  • Favorite line in the movie:

    KRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYPTONITE!

  • movie is very underrated. I loved it. Great continuation of Superman II great references to Richard Donner's original and a great way to bring Superman back to the big screen. I don't know why so much hate all of the sudden. I remember when it came out everyone was loving this. I don't want Nolan to reboot i want him to continue this, give Routh more time to perfect his man of steel and let Spacey return as well.

  • It's amazing how jaded people have gotten that seeing a man throw a mountain into the sun is anything but epic. There were so many scenes in there that were Superman as I'd always imagined him. The movie wasn't perfect, but still amazing to watch.

  • @EnigmaticMrWu I agree. I really think Superman Returns is underrated.

  • one of the best teaser trailers ever, better than the movie itself.

  • This trailer gets u pumped then the final result was a load of shit

  • AGREED - awesome trailer, not blatantly announcing what it's for but you get the idea

Superman fanfare is a fantastic piece of music and I think this trailer is actually better than the whole film

  • i was so excited to see this movie after watching this but sadly this movie was boring. i can go into detail of why i dont like this movie. but i have faith in christopher nolan in bringing back superman look what he did with batman

  • whats the music at 0:34 please?

  • @PoundSterlingGBP

Its from the first superman soundtrack.

    It's #2 , called the planet krypton.....

  • They can be a people kal-el. Not Color. Great teaser one of the best ever.

  • he is definitely the man of steel

  • the greatest superman teaser of all time

  • is this line for line what Marlon Brando says? "Even though you have been raised as a human being you are not one of them. They can be a great people color if they wish to be, they only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all their capacity for good, I have sent them you my only son."

  • yah i was really impressed how emotional this teaser was and was disapointed by the final product. hollywood can make a great superman film and someday it will.

  • Love this Teaser. Thanks for Posting this. Big Thumb's up.

  • 1:03 I like it!!!

  • The music to this trailer in entitled "The Planet Krypton" and its from the original SUPERMAN soundtrack. Its like track 1 or 2. I love it.

  • from 1:06 on: straight goosebumps. From the music to hearing marlon brando.

  • what's the music score at 0:31 ?.. what's it called? i can't find it anywhere.. slower theme?

  • @raiders2000 Go back a few pages back and read some of the older post because the answer is there.

  • @raiders2000

It's from the first superman soundtrack, called "the planet krypton"

  • Marlon Brando's voice, with John William's music, AND Superman....one of the best trailers I think I've ever seen.

  • The annoying thing about Superman is that he is either ultimately powerful or completely helpless. There's no middle-ground. But does anyone know the name of this John Williams piece?

  • @chuobio I believe it was a reprisal of John William's work, respectfully by John Ottman, who did the soundtrack for this adaptation. He wanted to make an "homage", not a repetition, so it is easy to see it was William's work. However, I found it hard to find this EXACT piece without getting 4 minutes of music that i didn't want :/ But good luck to you...

  • AH! Such a perfect trailer. Turns out the flick is lackluster, though.

  • Ah, this trailer promised so much and delivered such a hit and miss film. Not bad by today's blockbuster standards but they could've given the film a Zod or Doomsday, rather than a mountain.

  • My son was watching the trailer, but I think the John Williams theme was a little too much for him. I think he realizes how epic and powerful Superman is.

  • Why does everyone hate this film? It had awesome action sequences and special effects!! It was a fun movie. Plus, love it or hate it, it was WAY better than Superman 2 and 3.

  • Ok let me explain this simple concept to the retards who just dont get it...meaning the whole comic book adaptation and continuity thing.

When we go to see superman we expect to actually get superman, the beloved character not some fuckwits whiny emo peeping tom version.

A hero is defined by his actions, its not just the powers or the cape or even those red underpants that matter but rather how the guy playing him acts when he's in them.

Thats why, it wasnt really superman.

  • And if what happened to Superman happened to you, Superman would drop everything to try to help you in any way he can.

Yet when it happened to Superman, FUCK YOU SUPERMAN!!! is your reply.

  • Superman is not just defined by the fact that he is the world's greatest defender, but by other things as well. Meaning he is the last survivor of a doomed civilization. He is in love with Lois, but she only loves Superman, not Clark. Everything that makes Superman who he is, is in Superman Returns.

And you talk of actions, let's look at yours. Your actions say you are a fucking douche bag with no sense of morality. No compassion, no conscience.

  • And what does his actions REALLY say? He left to see if Krypton didn't explode. That means he is an orphan and wants to know if there are any more Kryptonians alive.

He went to see Lois at here home. What does that REALLY say? He loves here and wanted to tell her where he's been for the past 5 years. Simple, isn't it? Apparently not, it was only obvious.

And his actions REALLY say that he wanted to see Lois discreetly, not to disrupt her family life because that's not in his nature.

  • Funny how something so simple and obvious you missed completely. Hey look, you have a green light and you don't have a clue what to do.

  • Sadly whenever I hear Jor-El say "They can be a great people, Kal-El. They wish to be. They only lack the light to show them the way." I keep thinking how some douchbags claim they totally screwed up Superman in this movie. Not because everything they "screwed up" is easily found in many Superman releases, but showing that what they want Superman to do is more important than Superman.

  • @Potrimpo

You talk utter bollocks! ya know that right ?

His actions are the most important thing as they pretty much define him...you know as super-man.

Being a deadbeat dad, spying on lois and being caught up in his own "drama" is not really superman behaviour and its definitely not what real fans wanted to see.

I suppose after this trailer everybody just expected epic awesomeness and were seriously disappointed.

I know I was and dont mind sharing it.

  • So in short, you proved me right.

Funny how many people, such as yourself, conveniently forget that he is a lone survivor from the planet Krypton and conveniently forget that all the "wrongs" committed by Superman, he has done before in other installments including the comics. And what's even more funny, people didn't object.

Funny how Superman MUST show compassion and duty to us because WE say he should, and yet the reciprocal must be punished.

  • No compassion or sympathy for Superman because it gets in the way of what you want from him.

Besides, it takes the simplest capacity for intellectual thought, good caring emotion, and the most basic of common sense to see that it was painfully obvious that Superman was not a deadbeat dad. Cant be a deadbeat dad if you didn't know you even had a kid.

You know how to be a douche bag, don't you? And you failed to live up to any of Superman's expectations.

  • Yet ironically, of all the expectations that Superman needs to live up to, it is common sense (what you painfully lack) that the only expectations he needs to live up to, if he were real, are his own.

What are yours? Oh yeah. He must submit to your will so he can live up to you. AKA, slavery.

    What a douche.

  • Funny how a simple act of compassion can easily be thrown out the window when we need something. And anyone with an IQ over 50 can see I am not talking about Superman.

Talking about numb brains like you.

How you must expect Superman to help you find your family. Yet for Superman? Oh, no. That is a major no no. We come first because he is Superman.

  • And funny how when it comes to survivors of Haiti, we open our wallets, our homes, our hearts to the suffering. Yet when it comes to the survivor of Krypton, your response is go to hell.

  • this gave me shivers when it first came out. and did again just now. Pity about the film

  • yeah me too. although this teaser was brillant though. i watched it so many times before the movie came out and i was expecting to see a really great superman movie finally after so long. instead i was gutted. Poor characters, story, actors and special effects. I mean for heavens sake did they have to put an obvious GCI superman right in front of the camera on numerous occasions, talk about lazy. This film is just nothing but a vastly vastly inferior version of Donners 78 movie in my opinion

  • you sait it all right there my friend

  • Without doubt, one of the coolest and most awe-inspiring trailers ever! I love Brando's speech, even in the original film. He is a classical character!

  • I think John Williams masterpiece "The Planet Krypton" added to the mystique of this great teaser trailer but overall lousy movie.

  • im not big on superman, like i dont know much and havent watched much of the old movies, but what was it that made it lousy cuz i thought it was awesome and even cooler cuz of the renewed sets from the old movies, and jor-el and stuff. is it just because the reeves movies are so classic?

  • one of the all time best teaser trailers. ever.

  • probably one of the the greatest teaser trailers of all time funny seeing the returns summer 2006 i remember counting down the months till this movie was released 4 years on funny how time flies.

  • Silver Age Superman ...that is ...this superman and the Reeves one.... is a God like character, remember he is not human and in the presence of a Yellow Star like our Sun, his strength is Limitless!! he is an Infinite Battery!! he puts mental blocks on himself to control his power!!!

  • damn!!! this gave me goosebumps. Too bad the film sucked!

  • @rvsaraiva film didnt suck. it just didnt live up to the hype. no film ever does, besides avatar

  • @tywhite3 Somethign happening would've been a nice change of pace. That happens in most movies.

  • @rvsaraiva i thought it was a good sequel to Superman 2. I mean he just came back so dont expect him fighting huge villains or aliens. He came back to an Earth vastly changed by his absence and now he is trying to find his place in this new world. I thought that was great.

  • @rvsaraiva I agree. And is it me or was Brandon Routh's performance as Superman dull? I mean, come on. Why do people even think that he looks anything like Christopher Reeve?

  • @Wushu17 Personally, I think it was the way the character was written that made it so boring. Routh hardly had any lines and hardly did any fighting. Even his kid had the chance to throw a piano at someone.

  • Still one of my favorite teaser trailers of all time.

  • @Sark83

    Thanks to Mr. Brando.

  • All I know is, I LOVE DC COMICS!!!!!

  • I don't know if you guys remember the cartoon show, " The Aventures of Superman," but the one episode in which Superman sees the Yellow orbs in Brainiac's ship and touches them all, then obliterates Brainiac later(I think it was their 1st fight?), would make an incredible movie if made with the right Director/Producer/Writer/Actors/Screenplay dude. It's so good. It's awesome, especially with today's special effects. It would be incredible. This should be the trailer for it. No joke!

  • If you can't watch this trailer and see Superman as a Jesus Christ Symbol, then no offense, but you are a RETARD!!! Give me all of the negative comments you want you non-believeing idiots, but the fact of the matter remains that it is true!!! Don't deny it!!! Those who give me a positive comment know what I'm talking about. Amen!!! Fu@K Liberals!!!

  • you see Superman as a Jesus Christ symbol because that's what you're looking for, that's what you want to see. It doesn't make you right or wrong, it's open interpretation.

  • You need to simply be honest and admit what's there. One doesn't need to "look" for anything when Christ-related dialogue like "my only son" and "the son becomes the father and the father the son" is in the movie, among other things. Not trying to preach, simply stating a fact. Those references didn't come out of nowhere.

  • Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I'm wrong. I don't see him as a christ figure. those lines in the movie could be a huge coincidence. all this is is a matter of perception. I mean, do you believe those people who say they saw Jesus on their toast? they swear they see him, but others don't. it's perception, what you want to see. if you see jesus in Superman then that's cool, but not everyone sees it your way, and that doesn't place them in denial.

  • I didn't say I "see Jesus." What I'm saying is it's more than obvious that the writers borrowed several points directly from the life of Jesus and used it in the dialogue and plot. Far too many for it to be a "huge coincidence." You are either in denial or are simply not familiar with those Jesus-related points to make an accurate judgement. But they are there.

  • I grew up catholic going to catholic school until 8th grade so I am immensely familiar with Jesus. but I didn't go to see Superman with jesus on my mind or looking for Jesus. but if believeing I'm in denial helps you feel better or righteous or just plain right, then go ahead. I won't correct you anymore. believe and say whatever you want dude.

  • Who goes to a Superman movie looking for Jesus? I sure didn't. But both the the teaser and the full trailer had elements there were very similar to the life of Jesus. And then when you actually watch the film, there are even more. They are there. I simply point this out because it's a case of, rather than people looking for Jesus in the film, you seem to be turning a blind eye to what's right in front of you for whatever reason.

  • I totally agree with you. I just watched the movie on Sunday on AMC and the part where Lois lane was on the rooftop with SuperMan sent chills up my spine.

They were talking about her Pultzer Prize winning article called: The World doesn't need a Savior.

I saw the movie twice at the theaters and I liked it a lot and I remember that part and thinking "Yes we do need a Savior but not SuperMan though!"

There's more to this than just coincidence. Praise Jesus Christ our True Savior!

  • @TravisTrixta85 I would have to disagree. If you look it up on wikipedia you'll find that people have tried to equate Superman with Christ since maybe the 70s superman movies. And by people, I means the ones behind the superman productions. See for yourself. jaxl2009 is right. It's not just our imagination, these christian themes are intentional.

  • I think most would agree with you. The Christ-related symbols are throughout the entire movie. Not just in the trailer alone. Anyone who says they aren't there is simply in denial.

  • F@#k the Davinci Code!!! There are only 2 names in the universe that mean anything to me! Jesus, and Superman, and one happens to be a Christ SYMBOL of the other! The very first Christ Symbol of him might I add!!! Amen Jesus!!! Amen Superman, but Jesus even more!!!

  • Amazing F#@king trailer!!! This got me so pumped 2 see the movie, but the movie let me down so much much. From what I hear, the Man of Steel, which is the sequels title which comes out in 2010-11, will be amazing and have either Brainiac, Darkseid, or Doomsday as the villain! Any one of them will be f#@king incredible/insane/awef#@kinsome!!!!! Brainiac especially considering superman's origin story! Holy Shit! It really has the POTENTIAL to be the greatest Superhero movie of all time!!! No Shit!

  • This trailer got me pumped for Superman. Even though it was disappointing, I really wanted to see Singer direct the sequel, and I did like Routh as Superman, and Spacey as Luthor, but Bosworth was just garbage as Lois Lane.
