  • You should do a Janet Jackson style makeup tutorial.

  • OMG! Seriously, like how often do you get Janet Jackson?

  • Very nice makeup I recently bought it and yes it does bleed. Coming from a person that cries when she laughs you have to set it often which is a bummer. You can literally see the makeup melting off. :(

  • U have a sexy face

  • Oops...will you ever do a video on what's in your makeup kit??? What kind of foundation do you usual use in you kit,

  • Request: I know u do makep...wi

  • omg I love how this makeup on you.......good color match.......very informative will be buying me some black opal.

  • I love black Opal .....I recently bought Mac and lets just say it looks better at the bottom of the bin.....just a little black Opal goes along way....

  • That foundation matched your skin perfectly. Def will be purchasing some Black Opal soon.

  • I have oily skin and use this foundation. I live in the Caribbean and its hot year round, however, with this foundation, as if the oilier my skin gets, the better it looks! it just makes my face glow

  • @sams123973 i have extremely oily skin. Does it smudge off or look greasy though?? I really want to try this but im afraid it might make my break outs worse because of my oily oily skin.

  • @hazelyRo It does smudge, but doesn't look greasy. what I do with my oily skin is to use some milk of magnesia as a 'primer' before I put on foundation. It helps alot.

  • You remind me of Janet Jackson! Not just because of the way you look but also becasue your soft spoken & very melow. :)

  • Ur skin is beautiful. I wish mine was clear like urs

  • i love your haircut who was your celebrity inspiration

  • Thank you for this video.

I love to do make-up and i am trying to become better with it.

I practice allot on my friends and recently i've been trying to do the make-up for one of my black friends and i failed miserably at her foundation.

the brand i bought just was.. crap and the tones where completely off.

But now i know what to look for etc.

Thank you so much your skin truely looks beautifull without make-up aswell i wish mine was as clear as yours

  • when i went to sephora recently the floor worker told me that black opal is considered a high end product like makeup forever and nars. i thought he was joking b/c its in drug stores. he said its not suppose to be, the ones that are in drug stores are fake. but i don't think it is. its just like iman products its high end but sold in drug stores as well.

  • @zomaster1 yeah he does not know what he is talking about black opal is drugstore makeup and they are not fake wow sephora really does hire anyone

  • You're skin still looks pretty. Nobody has perfect skin all the time.

  • LoL You're still pretty without the make up. Thank you for tis review because I am prone to hyperpigmentation as well and my acne flared up when went to college (probably due to stress). You should try Rx for Brown Skin products because they're great at fading hyperpigmentation and eliminating blemishes. I will now try the Black Opal products. I'm tired of paying $40 for NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (This is a great product but to expensive for my taste. It lasts a long time though)

  • I have a question, what is is the spray bottle. Also do you know what can be done to decrease the transferring of the makeup?

  • Good job! Thanks for the tute. I prefer Black Opal over the more expensive foundations. It makes my skin look flawless.

  • Your skin is naturally gorgeous. I love your tutorials.

  • what did u spray on your face. wats it caled

  • @MsIhuoma I think she said it was similar to MAC fix plus

  • Your foundation is beautuful. I'm nw45 in mac what color would you suggest for black opal foundation? thanks

  • @princesstia4072 if you are a NW45 in MAC you will need the shade nutmeg in black opal. you can have a look at the shade. i will send u a video. hope this helps you.

    Abi

  • u shouldnt even wear foundation . . Your beautiful without it hun! <3

  • I have hyper skin pigmentation from Celiac (can't eat flour based food products) I use to have a bunch of dark scars, but take CoQ10, it's a viatim that helps to repair damaged cells, and skin. It'll help with making marks disappear.

  • i have dry skin to , i got concealing foundation and powder foundation - 03 truly topaz . what i can do first thing ? but i dont know how to make up at my first time and also dont know which one do first wont mistake .

  • this does look nice. i thought all make up rubs off easily?

  • i just wanted to know if it necessary to wear the face powder ,or if it will be okay to just use the foundation stick and the concealer.

  • what do you mean when you say transfer? It transfers?

  • @ADayOfRachel The makeup rubs off very easily. For example if u give someone a hug most likely ur "face" will end up on their shirt :-P

  • Hi Eboney, you are beautiful with or without makeup. I use to have really bad skin and i tried everything,i realized that black skin with blotches are skin damage from the sun,so i started using a even skin toner Nadoloa is the brand and you can use anything that has Hodroqortzine in it and it will remove any adult acne and you will see instant results with you skin. You even use it under makeup...it great and you will even love when you cn say i don`t think i will put on makeup today.

  • what type of concealer and foundation can you recommend for someone with dark spots and lots of acne on the face.please, this is really important.also,i have a very oily face,so please just recommend what will suit my type of skin.thanks

  • what type of concealer and foundation can you recommend for someone with dark spots and lots of acne on the face.please, this is really important.

  • I loove Blck Opal too! Good job gurl!!

  • That looks good!

  • how do you which color. works for you?I find it hard to figure what color foundation to get to match my skin.I am almost your color

  • Thank you for sharing, I love black opal powder make-up. I did not know that they make a stick form. The beauty supply store where I get my powder does not carry it. I will have to find me a Walgreens. Excited to find a stick make-up. You do such a great job applying ypur make-up. keep up the videos.

I like the hi-lites in your hair too.

  • which brush would you recommend using; the flat rounded brush or the brush you used? :)

  • this is a really good video and helped me ALOT!; thaanks :)

  • Black Opal has great foundation sticks! And you're a natural beauty.

  • What do you find helps with the creasing around the mouth area? I have the same problem but not only does mine crease but it also tends to get a little dry/cakey looking, including under my eyes. I do moisturize & prime beforehand & set my foundation with a little translucent powder but it still tends to crease & get dry/cakey & set into any fine lines. Any tips/suggestions?? ;o)

  • One of my fav foundations

  • still beautiful without makeup!

  • One of my favorite foundation/concealer videos of all time. Thank you so much!

  • What was the spray that you used instead of fix plus cause fix plus is too expensive.

    (how much is it?) Thanks!

  • everyone will get acne ....if u dont get it as a teenager...you'll get it as an adult...well thats what my dermatologist said

  • yur speaking voice reminds me of Janet, JILL Scott, and Kim Fields

  • i use black opal, i love the full coverage. you remind me of janet jackson.

  • I like your Philosophy about how much you want to cover your skin and at the same time have your natural skin showing through as well.

  • What are you using that's similar to the fix+

  • what color are you in iman? Im looking to buy black opal but I have to order online and Im a clay 1 in iman and im trying to figure out if I could be a nutmeg also and I saw you mentioned iman products

  • No make up.. You still look gorgeous:D!!!

  • your so pretty..am a new sub :)

  • omg ur intro music sounds so beautiful..

i think imma have to give blk opal a try :)

  • i'm a beginner into make up so my question might be stupid but why do you spay your face while applying the foundation? thanx :)

  • You are beautiful girlie ... keep doing your thing.

  • thats a great idea..foundation first then concealer..ok great

  • I've visited the Black Opal website and I didn't see a stick foundation in the colour Nutmeg. I was able to see the label on the bottom of your stick and it did say Nutmeg, but it was weird that I couldn't find it on the site. Are you able to tell me if Nutmeg is lighter or darker than Truly Topaz? That's the closest one to my skin tone I could find.

  • @tsartistry truly topaz is a bit lighter than nutmeg

  • Ohh I forgot. If you have oily skin you can use the MAC's matte before you apply the stick.

  • I would like to thank you for recommending black opal. I do like it, but honey is a little too light for me for the concealer, but I do love toast. Thanks

  • Hey, I love this video. I am very bad at picking the right foundation color for my skin. Question: What color in the Black Opal Stick Foundation would u say compares to the Mac NC45 Studio Tech? Also what color concealer do u suggest?..any help would be appreciated

  • I got the shade. by watching again. thanks

  • What color did you use again for the foundation?

  • this video is no longer working. Do you mind re-uploading or sending it to me personally? I would really like to see it. Thanks,

  • I have never seen Black Opal at any of the store around Racine, Wi and I was wondering cause i wann try it so bad, how would i go about getting the right color if ive never tried them before? can anyone help me, plse and thank you.

  • You know, you kind of look and sound like Janet Jackson. Thanks for this tutorial...I'm subscribing for this and the Mommy Wig lol

  • you look a little like janet jackson around the mouth, and talk a little like her too, has anybody ever told you that?

thanx for the video i was looking for a review on this.

    .kandrea..

  • black opal is the bomb, I been using it since High school, and I been out for 13 years

  • té vrement plu belle maquillé ke naturel!! jtrouve ke c domage de faire tou sa pour est belle!!

  • you can use milk of magnesium as a primer

  • @mushirikku Oh my God you didn't say God is punishing her for wearing makeup ? Your joking right ? So what all that bad things people in the word are doing God our father is taking time 2 punish her 4 wearing makeup? Then why are you looking at makeup videos if you don't wear any makeup? You should know that if anything God may and I said may punish you 4 going around saying bad things to other's. But I know this comment was a joke os let me say Ha"ha"ha. God bless you sweet heart 4 this commont

  • what the fuck? take that 18th century mentality somwhere else, thank you.

  • lol that's an awkward thing to say on a makeup tutorial video.

    .kandrea..

  • First of all you are a wonderful beautiful person for sharing such videos with us! I have a request to make if possible. Do you think you could do a tut on everyday powder foundation look with neutral eyes and pink lips?? Very natural looking... Thanks in advance

  • what was that stuff you sprayed on your face??? thank you and yoru tuts are the bomb you are stunning! and yaya to beautiful souther cali sistas!!

  • the website doesn't list nutmeg as a color. i wonder if it is new or discontinued. i have the foundation sticks in topaz, honey & hazelnut (didn't know which would match). the coverage seems heavy. i use a 187 brush. will try a foundation brush 2 see if i like that better. thanks :-)

  • I saw this in the store and passed it by not thinking it would be a good choice. I like the Black Radiance Stick foundation too. I'll have to try this and yes...what's in the bottle?

  • what was the spray that you used ?

  • hey i brought the black opal in beautiful bronze and the concealer stick it works great i like...ur video was so helpful

  • Wow, black opal's website sure doesn't list nutmeg as a possible color for their creme stick foundation

  • Thanks for the info on both products. I bought both of them and I love it. The Monistat will replace the primetime primer I was using and Black Opal will replace my Mac stick. Once again Thank you, Thank you...... God Bless You ........

  • I DEFINITELY agree. I've been using Mac Select Cover up for years. I'm a nw 50 and I just bought the Black Opal cover and clear today... WHOA. Just as good, if not better than Mac. I just ran out of my Mac cover up and I would have been heading to the mall for another tube. Negative! I'm saving lots of money and supporting a black brand. Can't go wrong!

  • What is the brand and color of the translucent powder you are using to cover your concealer?

  • Comment removed

  • I have the same question as atldream1...please tell us what kind of spray that was that you used...

  • I used "Equalizer" by BioElements. It's a toner/skin rebalancer very similar to Fix+. It's a pro product so its pretty expensive. I would recommend using a toner that has glycerin in it. Thanks for being so patient...so hard to keep up with my responses sometimes.

  • you are still beautiful w/o makeup- you make the makeup pretty...

  • It looks nice on you but I still like that iman stick on you a little better. do you still use that one?

  • great video What was the spray you used? Where can I purchase one other than mac?

  • Whatever happened to you skin is EXACTLY what happened with mine girl! Every morning i would wake up with a new huge zit on my face. i've decided to change the detergent i use on my bed covers... and cover my pillow with a clean towel..i wonder if that might work???

  • What's your opinion on using fingers instead of a brush to blend out the foundation?

  • Fingers work just fine...sometimes better than a brush...because of the warmth in your fingertips. I use a brush because I'm a "brush junkie" and it's a faster application.

  • You are still beautiful Doll!!! No need to explain the hyper-pigmentation...You are appealing to the everyday woman!!! Good for you!!

  • Something about you reminds me of Janet Jackson and also Kim Coles from Living Single, yeah I love that Black Opal line. I use their concealer and their creme foundation, it's awesome.

  • OMG...I thought I was the only one who noticed that she looks (and kinda sounds) like Janet!! :o)

  • haha Yes, the sound of her voice especially reminds me of Janet...

  • You would not believe how much you've taught me with this one video. I have been searching for the secret to getting that subtle glow under the eyes. I'm so grateful that you take the time to do this! Thank you.

BTW: I think that Black Opal's line is truly underrated! People should get on board!

  • Thanks, glad I could be of help!

  • Beautiful and flawless foundation application. Thanks for sharing.

    Blessings.

  • hey girl, i'm the same way, i used to do full, full coverage, do to the marks from acne, but now, i'm comfortable using a med coverage, cuz i still want to look some what natural, so i feel you on that whole coverage thing...

  • girl, i tried the monistat on the facial area and i have acne prone skin, so very oily and stuff, and let me tell you, i don't think oily skinned girls should use it, cuz girl!! let me tell you, i broke out within like the 2-3rd day...so just a warning. so yeah i just started using it instead for what it actually is formulated for. but for those who can use, shooot, kudos to you..

  • Yeah, I have dry skin so the Monistat works fine for me. I agree that oily skin should use an oil control primer...like the one from Iman. Thanks.

  • great tutorial! I'm on the look out! I've been mixing foundations to get my color as my skin tone is similar to yours and I was getting frustrated because I have to go into sciencetist mode LOL. Thanx

  • I really want this foundation...I love the coverage it gives u.

  • Flawless and very natural looking. I likes!!

  • i love the new music, i missed your videos i switch YT, but i am happy i found you again.

  • Which stick foundation do you think is better: Black Opal or Iman?

  • Wow that's a toss up! I would have to say....Black Opal. Black Opal wins by just a hair. It's thicker than the Iman and offers more product for the price. It's also a little thicker so the coverage is awesome.

  • You look beautiful without makeup.

  • Thanks!

  • Good tut girl! I told you Black Opal has come a long way :0)

  • Great tut, Ebony. I am a cosmetologist and make up artist. I have done make up for the black caucus fashion shows in washington dc. I use black opal line.(Thank you for telling our secret) Just kidding! Great tut

  • thank god my skin is damn near perfect but that was a big difference... i might have to try opal.. for my mom at least.

  • Uggh! I can see this video in its entirety, it keeps cutting off at 1:08.

  • Thanks Ebony, I can't products for women of color in my area also. However, about 30 minutes away their is a Walmart and a Rite- Aid that carries line specifically for women of color. I got to try this. I like stick foundation in the fall/winter.

  • Luv black opal's foundations, concealers and powders. It's a great line :)

  • for the adult acne try tea tree oil. and try to limit dairy. its happening to me as well, right when i turned 30! make sure u get all the makeup off at night :)

  • You're beautiful!

  • LOL, girl...I can definitely relate to the adult acne thing! Don't you hate it? But, you still look beautiful...thx 4 the review!

  • This video was so helpful thanks for sharing.

  • Girl the look on your face when you said "tHIS IS NOT VAGINAL CREAM" I am cracking up....

  • I have the same problems with my skin and I've been using Cliniques Cleansing System in #3 along with Costal Scents African Black Soap. And my skin is clear and the dark spots are really fading!!! Great review, I think I'm going to check these products out. Thanks Ebony!!

  • Love it!

  • Love the foundation on you. What concealer do you use for under the eye area?

  • Pale as I am, I use "sand" and I love it especially for photography shots. Thanks for the tip

  • Thank you so Much for this Video!!!!

  • you have some great vids...like my new fav make-up vids

  • that black opal works really good although u still have great skin in my opinion

  • Beautiful! I am a department store snob when it comes to foundation. I heard about this foundation from Scandolous Beauty so I ran out to buy it. I have to admit, I thought it was a little to heavy. But after watching this video I tried it out again...I love it now. I just needed to use a light hand to get the coverage I like. Thank you so much for the video...I'm such a fan!!!

  • wow great coverage i hope i can find this!!!

  • I agree it must be something with our hormone levels changing as we age because I never had adult acne and within the last few months BAM there it is so I had to go to a dermatologist and get some prescriptions to fade and remove the acne scars.

  • Hello Diva, I love the look as always but saw something that just took me there...seen Divas using the chaffing cream, I had to have it but could not find it anywhere not even at Walmart...always out of stock, now I am on a mission and its personal (lol) 3 months later I got my chaffing cream. Used it twice and LOVED IT! by day 3 I was so broke out, I looked like Mt. Saint Hell NO! sad to say it was the chaffing cream combined with my oily-oily skin :(. Wear it proud and loud if it work for U!

  • Yeah, I have dry skin so the Monistat works cool for me. I don't recommend it if you have oily skin. Try the Iman Oil Control Primer at Ulta....$15.

  • I sooo agree with NaturalCD87, I said the same exact thing to myself everytime I watch your videos that U remind me of Janet Jackson and Chisette Michelle

  • Do people ever tell u that u remind them of Janet Jackson? Lol. Idk, I'm just getting this Janet Jackson vibe from u. It's a compliment. :)

  • Wow!!! It really looks good and it evened out your complex, You're always beautiful. I have been looking for a foundation for dry skin. What type of spray was that you mist you face with, I'm a beginner, and I love makeup, I have been watching your tutorials for a while and Ms. Lady you are so help and sweet, Keep inspiring Us Newbies!!!

  • is this foundation good for oily skin?

i have some acne scars but i use bare minerals foundation or the "Queen" collection for Cover Girl that caters to black women and it basically covers it up the scars lol.

  • that application seems sooooo tideous =)

  • you have great skin!

  • I love Fashion Fair but bought Black Opal to try. I bought mine at Wal-Mart but I think it was old because after a few days, it smelled like baby vomit, so I threw it out. Aside from that, the color was great and I love the concealer sticks.

  • I`m a beautician/ makeup artist and I'll have my first african-american bride in december and I have no idea how to do her make-up. could you give me some tips?

  • What is her skintone like? I suggust find someone w/ the same skintone has her on youtube and check out their videos to see what compliments that skintone :-)

  • great video... be blessed.

  • Great tutorial. Quick question, which do you like better revlon color stay or black opal?

  • I have the same problem with the dark marks. I am going to have to try this!

  • I have oily skin AND adult ance which I have under control and Black Opal works great wih my skin. I love it!

  • I use Fashion fair they r from the 80's I found it years ago in jet magazine .I usually buy it in MACY's department store. And they do cater to people of color

  • I use to work for Fashion Fair they have a good stick foundation also. I just found their foundation a bit too red for my skin tone. They have nice pigmented eyeshadows. But their brand is deemed old school and unfashionable these days. All these lines are selling the same product you just paying for the 'branding'

  • you are magnific...

    hi from spain

  • Have you ever heard of Fashion Fair cosmetics? I just found out about them yesterday and they cater to people of color.

  • Great tutorial!

  • I just started building a kit, looks like I'm definitely gonna get some for my clients. But I thought it was full coverage?...

  • when ever I watch your vids I always think on janet jackson. Not the new face of janet but the TRUE face a janet. You look just like her.

  • You too huh?! Gurl my skin around the same areas is a blemished mess! That concealer (TAN and TOAST ) is my absolute fav! I do my brows and highlight my undereye with it and love it! Thank the good lawd for concealer gurl!

I'm definitely going to try the foundation! Thanks for the review gurlfriend!

    ♪ kokofemme ♪

  • I love it love it loveit....have been using Black Opal for about 7yrs now...i never go wrong with it....

  • That was a very informative demonstration. I usually put my concealer on before my foundation, but I think I'll try it the opposite way now. Thanks.

  • I love Black Opal, I use their concealer and foundation.

  • Nice review.

Will you do a video on blushes for women of color?! Please. =)

  • Great information! I'm going to try out the Monistat Chafing Gel! I assume it is on the feminine aisle? Also what kind of spray were you using to set your foundation? I know you mentioned Smash box, but was your spray different?

  • that was explained very well! For the translucent powder....how much lighter should it be?

  • Translucent... means it goes on clear. The powder might be white or pink in the container, but its supposed to go on clear on the skin

  • Thanks for the review. I want to try it but my face is so oily. I have a feeling that it is not going to work out too well for me. Idk, I might give it a try anyways, just so that I can know for sure.

  • that was the first foundation i ever wore i liked the coverage but it transferred too much still nice review
