It is kind of amusing though, as we were doing similar stuff back in the 80s on an Amiga. We used a video digitizer from A-Squared called a "Live!" board and a piece of software called Mandela. The hardware was nowhere near as sophisticated, and could only pull a simple key, but it allowed this sort of virtual interactivity.

There is a bit of lag. Is that inherent with the Kinect, or is the software just not optimized?

kinect scans your whole body it is voice recognized you use your body for everything literally with pin point accuracy wii has nothing on that this guys program is a mod try using it for something its supposed to be used for and its a completely different story

i really dont see how this is gonna help hardcore gamers, nowhere near the accuracy of a REAL joypad, how do you suggest playing COD on this? Or a racing sim where you NEED accuracy, and i doubt its gonna track your feet on virtual pedals, and a virtual gearstick to change gear is it.

This is just another long line of gimmicks for the gaming industry, just because its the latest technology doesnt mean its more practical

this is 30-40 year old technology the only thing thats different now from 30 years ago is you dont need to wear the balls on each of your joints, except if it involves full 3 dimensional recording because this system cant tell for example what your hands are doing if you turn away from the sensor that would take more sensors placed around the target to capture every angle.

@Balcer666 There are drivers for Linux too. You can clearly see the Kinect device plugged into the Mac.

Also, Mac and Linux are the best OSes to hack console accessories with, since they have FREE open-source drivers for accessories like Kinect.

I notice that the puppeteer is standing pretty close to Kinect. Since you have this means for somewhat analyze finger-tracking with Kinect (in that you're able to control the puppet's mouth with your fingertips), could you describe at what range Kinect becomes not able to reliably track your fingers?
