@MrLolcatsXD No. Cthugha is a different Mythos entity, invented by a later author (Derleth?) adapting H.P.'s works. Some people dislike these entities for being non-Lovecraftian while others accept them as part of the mythos. I believe the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society is somewhat neutral on this stance, not really going out of their way to include these characters, yet still making occasional reference, as in this song.
The lyrics I hear: Dance the cultists in their folly Falalalala lala la la 'Tis the season to be jolly Falalalala lala la la Watch them kill and disembowel Falala lalala la la la Troll the yuletide carol foul Falalalala lala la la See the blazing god before us Falalalala lala la la Join us in our morbid chorus Falalalala lala la la Follow him in mindless prayer Falala lalala la la la Great Cthugha in his lair Falalalala lala la la
@TheCaptainLulz Hes not really a god..hes more like a godly man eating perverted version of Satan with tentacles lol. Not to troll but as a Christian I have rights to that comparison....ok not fully christian but still
@WarriorHawkSpirit I beg to differ as to who holds the rights to such comparisons. If anything, Satan was a stub for other, specifically pagan, religions of that time. They needed to be demonized for them to be pushed away. This PR was one of the few non-violent ways in which the religion subdued Europe. Most were along the lines of Verden. And while Satan's existence has yet to be proven, the massacre at Verden (4,500 Saxons killed for not converting to Christianity) is historical fact.
Cthulhu doesn't look like he gives a shit about the offering from the cultists in this artwork.

That picture only shows the miniscule amount of majesty that Cthulhu will bring, he will be larger, and we will be awe-struck I will be on my knees.

@TheCaptainLulz It doesn't mention Cthulhu. It says something about a Cthugha (sp?)
FroggerbobT 7 months ago
@FroggerbobT Cthugha is another Great Old One, resembling a ball of flame. Hence the line 'See the blazing god before us' (;,;)

@WarriorHawkSpirit Good comparison actually, even though I think satan and Cthulhu have one big difference: Cthulhu is far more alien in mindset.
