My wife and I were there just last week. I was so awe-struck that I just set down my camera and gazed in amazement, so I have no photos or video of the canyon and its weeping walls. The memory is of course better than any photo or video, but this is incredibly cool to watch!
Mount Waiʻaleʻale (literally, "rippling water" or "overflowing water") has an elevation of 5,148 feet. It is a shield volcano and is the 2nd highest point on the island of Kauaʻi in the Hawaiian Islands. Averaging more than 426 inches of rain a year since 1912, with a record 683 inches in 1982, its summit is considered one of the rainiest spots on earth.
That was beautiful and my complaint is it wasn't long enough. I wonder if there is anywhere else in the world that has such a dramatic display of waterfalls that the eye can see like this. The mountain sides are so dramatic as it is from the volcanic movement and than for them all to be waterfalls after a good rain . So unique and heavenly. I cannot blame the natives for wanting to protect the wildness.
Incredible! Lucky to live Kauai. I can see some of these waterfalls on any rainy day, but to be right inside the canyon is totally awesome. Million thanks to the crew who did this.
I live just fown the hill from Waialeale - I know, lucky me! This video is just awesome - what a treat for everyone, even those of us lucky enuf to live Kauai! Mahalo!

I was on a helicopter ride just like this one on my honeymoon to Kaua'i16 years ago. It looks a lot more spectacular under the rain!!!

Wow! It's magnificent. I though I heard a helicopter pass through here and couldn't believe anyone would fly in these conditions.

Great advertisement for the helicopter company. Hardly anyone who "live Kauai" actually sees this.

freaking beautiful! That's the magic of "the wettest spot on earth". Yeah, we get a lot of rain, but look at the benefits from it.
Lucky we live Kauai!
