I love the instrument, I love the song, I love the performance! absolutely STUNNING. What I can't tell is, are the vocals run through the Eigenharp? or are they done separate? for example, can you use the Eigenharp to loop vocals, as you sing over top? Regardless; Nicley done!
I this case the vocals are not going through the Eigenharp since this is the Pico, it has no microphone input. The flagship model, the Alpha has a microphone input and with third party plugins it's possible to loop them directl, yes. I the future there's a good possibility that this will be natively supported by the Eigenharp software though.
This is beautiful -- nicely composed. I only got my Pico last week, and I'm still trying to get a handle on the functions... the machine is playing me right now, I'm not playing it. Lovely song, and nice arrangement. You keep things interesting by varying the song throughout , taking away the percussion, then adding the extra drums at the end for your solo. Can't wait to hear more!
Thanks, at first there's a lot to take in with the Pico but it quickly makes sense and a world opens up to you. You're in for a lot of fun! This was the second song that I recorded, if you want to hear more, you can click on my channel to see three others. Thanks for listening!
HelloThis is Karplus. Ifaded out here and there floatng in good memories of late 80s
It is not secesary for the player to seeemingly be tied to thes synth like in the middle to end portion. Let your voicestay but but wind the Line aeound the instrument or vica versa. Don't just mimick a Pico voice with your own voice
Thanks for the compliments! Already have one other song composed, written and arranged. I will try to record it next weekend. Am working on the next one now, which will take quite a bit longer since I doing finger movements and patterns that are quite strange rhythmically for a guitar player, so there's a lot of exercise involved ... we'll see how that one goes :-)
Very nice. I'm hoping to be getting a Pico in a week or so... though I don't currently have a laptop powerful enough to run it on. I'm going to be begging, borrowing or stealing my friends Macbooks, and will hopefully have a chance to enter the competition.
Have you tried playing with the cello simulator? I'm especially interested in this, as I used to be a professional violinist - but had to give up due to disability. I'm very keen to hear what the cello sounds like.
I also used to specialise in live looping with my 6 string electric violin. I'm very excited to play with the live looping options of the Pico :),.... I can't wait...
Hi, the next song I'll be recording will be using the cello simulator. I think it's awesome, though I haven't played a bowed instrument before, so I can't compare. It does take a while to get used to though (still working on this), since you have to coordinate the speed and length of the 'bowing' on the strip controller, with the phrases and notes you're playing. That should not be a problem for you at all I suppose :-)
There is only video online that demonstrates the cello simulator, and it sounds exactly like someone picking up a real cello for the first time.... (and that realism excites me).
If it is anything like a real cello, just make sure that you use enough pressure on the strip...
Good luck, and I await with interest to see what you come up with :)
It does indeed feel very real. You can hear the resistance of the bow and the screeching when you start touching the 'strings'. You also feel when you didn't properly time the 'bowing' on the strip controller since things don't flow anymore.
When I was talking with John (the creator of the Eigenharp) a few weeks ago, he told me they actually had to incorporate how the sounds actually changes over time due to some resin, or chalk, or whatever substance that you apply to the bow in real life. Without adding that to the physical model, the sound didn't feel life-like.
Observations like that really impress me and the attention to detail give me confidence in the future of the Eigenharps.
Yeah, bows need rosin applied to them, which allows for the horsehair to grip the strings.
I have been really impressed with the guys at Eigenlabs with their innovation and attention to detail. I'd love to visit the factory some time, as it is just up the road from me. Sadly I live too far away from London to realistically visit the PR/musicians at Covent Garden - though they have invited me there for a private demo.
It's been fun and the experience is really similar to all the previous instruments I've learned over the years. Perseverance is rewarded and daily training give you steady, slow improvements.
Geert - This is the tune the first interested me in the Eigenharp. It's has done so again.

Sympa...Pour moi pas le meilleur mais belle maitrise. Un conseil, travailler la respiration pour une meilleure maitrise vocale. bravo pour l'ensemble
