@grogtgs Wow, that's really stupid. Are you saying people should only have sex if they want babies? What about young married couples that can't afford kids yet? Should they just play cards in the evening?
Nothing wrong with this product at all! Sometimes condoms brake etc. Im not agaisnt abortions, condoms etc but it does anger me when you get these young girls (god..did i really just say that..im getting old) that will use abortions as a version of contraception. There is a girl where i work who has had 5 abortions in 3 years. Each with diff guys and worst of all she boasts about it. She also adds "e dont like usin condoms, so what can you do." -_- ive met a few girls like her.
I'm so glad this pill exists. And I'm so glad that the friendly apothecary didn't give me a hard time about getting it, when I needed it! Condom failure can happen to anyone, no matter how careful, and this pill is a lifesaver. Reading all these hateful comments, I'm so glad I live in Europe, where this seems to be less of an issue!
@Pricelessparis rape happens, however the bible condones rape, so I wouldn't see you noticing that. The bible is nothing more then an outdated book with several somewhat interesting stories, but if you follow the bible strictly you will see that the world has outgrown Christianity and its real stupidity.
Well it's quite normal to be a virgin at your age.
Wait till you're 34.
And till after you've had 2 or 3 "pregnancy scares", or one of your best friends gets knocked up while still at school. Let's see if you still think abortion is so bad then!
Ehm, well that's EXACTLY the situation in which a girl would have an abortion, wouldn't it? She'd better abort fast before anyone finds out and gets expelled!
All this advert is saying that youngsters and the elder generation can just use this as a substitute for the actual abortion itself. And it doesnt always work.
I think it is absolutely ridiculous that they are airing these sorts of adverts on TV because it says '....For emergency contraception, more affective the sooner you take it '. For an emergency.....An emergency for killing the foetus. They just hand it out like saying yeah it is okay to be killing a life!!!
It seems some people do not get the difference between emergency contraception and abortion pills. Levonelle prevents/postpones ovulation, and in rare cases might prevent implantation, but it will not interrupt a pregnancy if it has already occurred. This is why the window of time to take it is so short, compared to the abortion pill, which is prescribed up to 12 weeks after unprotected sex.
@CheekieMonkieGirlie sex is a natural thing that we can't always prevent, sure 500 years ago we didn't have the luxury of emergency contraceptives or condoms, but now we can practice natural tendencies without the fear of contracting potentially deadly diseases or unwanted pregnancy. The world has outgrown Christianity and its book of somewhat interesting stories surrounded by silly instructions on how to run your lives, which may of been practical 2000 years ago, but isn't today.
We enjoy the pleasure, which is given as a sort of 'consolation' prize for the pending parenthood. But I think that the couple has a right to make the choice, not for beings beyond our understanding, not to change the world, but so that they can survive comfortably in the world without having a burden that they are not ready for.
I agre with sh97, I believe that a woman has the right to decide. It's her body, after all. If you are christian, then you will believe that God put you on this earth and gave you the tools for reproduction, but where in the bible does it say that they HAVE to use them?
Sex is a complex activity. There are lots of factors and variables to consider, the most primary being whether to use protection or not. WE, as humans, cannot deny our primary instinct which is, ironically, to reproduce.

This wouldn't be a problem if women would just stop OPENING THEIR LEGS!!! Any woman who has sex deserves to be punished with a baby. KILLING THE BABY is not an option. And this pill clearly murders children.
Think of it this way, ForcedBirther. Wouldn't it make more sense for a child to be granted a mother who WANTS to raise a child to begin with? The morning after pill is not an abortion. It's a powerful hormone that PREVENTS ovulation and implantation. Unwanted babies are being spared when theyre precluded from coming to fruition. Your own mother decided to open her legs, and you owe her for deciding to birth you into this world. You ought to spend less time judging the imperfect... we're humans.
"kill the unwanted" is nothing new, sh.. Indeed, you can become unwanted at any time also. Someone may choose that the world is better place without you. Who am I to get in the way of their right to choose, right? You take up lots of oxygen, food, and energy.
"It will be necessary to open special institutions for abortions and doctors must be able to help out there in case there is any question of this being a breach of their professional ethics."
In addition this pill messes about with the lining of the womb, so if conception takes place the pregnancy will be unable to flourish in the womb . It results in an early miscarriage. This pill is an abortion pill regardless of what the manufacturers say.
Conception - when a new, entirely unique human life with his or her own human DNA begins - can happen in way less than an hour after sex.
But this pill advertises itself as able to work even if you take it 3 days later! This is not a difficult scientific concept to grasp. It works after conception as well as before conception.
And a powerful dose of cancer causing steroids like this can also disrupt implantation, obviously.
LOL, I suggest you educate yourself. It can take only an hour. Conception can also occur up to 6 days later. Medical misinformation is what you people promoting kill pills are all about.
Actually - the manufacturers were forced to put that in their very finely printed warnings - but they use lawyerspeak language to describe a "post fertilization" effect.
The killing lobby has lots of money. That's why male steroids are so horrible and illegal and cause cancer - but the science is suppressed regarding these female steroids and 10 year old girls are put on them.
Now we have the world's highest breast cancer rate. This crap hates women as much as their babies.
This is NOT an abortion pill ! it is a pill which alters the hormone levels in order to induce menstruation thus making it more difficult for an egg to embed in the uterine walls.....(which does not always work). Not all fertilised eggs embed which is just natural. Maybe we should focus on banning post 24wk abortions...now THATS sick!
it's not flushing a baby down the toilet... its only a group of cells at that point or would you rather the girl waits till its actually a baby before she deals with it and Tetrsd is right 1 in 4 women loss a baby and never know... what if this is not a middle class well off girl we're talking about what if its an addict that gets pregnant would be different wouldn't it then their child would be an addict would you rather that? all girls of 16 should be offered contraception no matter what
I never said it was a "baby" bein flushed down the toilet. U were a group of cells at one point. So was I. So was every1. What size do you expect it to be? Are basketballers more human than us because THEY are bigger? Open up any medical textbook and it will say life begins at the moment of conception, backed up by the FACT that all genetic material is present from the moment of conception.
Are you saying a potentail addict hasn't a right to life? Theres alternatives lyk adoption & fostering.
you need to get a life a stop preaching to people who are living thiers... your comment pissed me off cause i lost had a miscarriage and the only way i could deal with that was thinking it was a group of cells.... also you ever killed an insect i'm sure you have at somepoint what about its life?
I'm sorry for your loss. But I'm not preaching. I just feel too strongly about this issue to just sit back and watch the pill being advertised. I'm just fighting for what I believe in. That's all.
And that's all you are too, and me and every other human. Scientifically, we're just a bunch of cells...nothing more nothing less. Morally and humanely, we are human beings...and so is that little "group of cells" inside the womb, otherwise known in layman's terms as a "baby".
I would not class it as a baby, no. It's like calling a kid an adult. However, I believe it's still human life, which deserves a right to life. A zygote is more than a "little group of cells", the same way a great piece of literature is more than just pages and ink. It's greater than that.
I used to be pro-choice, until I thought of this scenario: Imagine you went back in time. Someone you know and love from the present is growing in the womb. You are an abortionist. Would you carry out the abortion? After all, isn't it just a cluster of cells? I wouldn't. I thought of this, and realised that those "little group of cells" will become something wonderful. Did you know that the majority of women who considered an abortion are glad to have went through with the pregancy and birth.
Okay imagine this one, you go back in time and find that osama bin laden's mother wants an abortion, would you do it?
Ridiculous argument, the fact is we don't know the future, but we can have some power on the way our lives will be shaped and its wrong to take that away from women.
Not ridiculous. But as you said, we don't know the future. We should not end life just because we anticipate results. Women who want power over their future should do everything in their power to prevent pregnancy, and accept consequence of their actions instead of decieving themselves that the embryo is not a human and ending the future of another life.
So instead of answering my question with a question, tell me straight: would you carry out the abortion of a loved one?
No one is deceiving themselves that an an embryo is not alive, what they are realising is that they as a self aware person have rights over a POTENTIAL person when it comes to their bodies and their health.
I refuse to answer your question because its totally out of the realms of reality.
I see what your trying to get at: "but if we only knew what joy the baby would bring the world!" but NO ONE knows the future, and you cant take away women's rights on "what ifs".
Not out of reality, just stepping back, and thinking outside the box.
Everything has a future- THAT is not out of realm of reality- which is what my scenario suggests. Women act as if having baby is the end of the world, when there are possible alternates, such as adoption and fostering. Its a tragedy when a woman has a miscarriage, but it she wants an abortion, its acceptable. Appears life only has value when the woman want it.
Most abortions occur when the baby has traits of any human.
This advert clearly states those worries of mainly the female population becoming pregnant after their first choice of responsible contraception has failed them. Its just saying "no worries, here's back up" so for those who dont want children just yet, you CAN be relieved. Having a family is a big responsibility.
I agree that young women would use it as their only form of contraception and that is NOT good.
But im in favour of this advert as it obviously isnt directed at those girls.
There is overwhelming peer reviewed, credible evidence that sex education drastically reduces teen pregnancy. "Previous generations rarely had these unwanted pregnancies" What universe are you living in? Unwanted pregnancies were the the standard before the advent of contraception in the 1060's. And with regards to the rights of the sperm donor to have his voice heard, where are you getting your facts from?
Perhaps I was wrong in the "unwanted pregnancies" part. And this guy isn't "donating" sperm with the intent of a child being concieved. The ad portrays him as oblivious to the fact that this girl is gonna take a morning after pill. He SHOULD have the right to know, and this ad is conveying otherwise. Altogether, I disagree with this ad being shown, because I'm pro-life.
How is the morning after pill considered a 'contraceptive' ? Surely if you take the pill your accepting that its possibly a bit too late to avoid conception!
These methods stop the implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine wall. They don't cause abortion because the pregnancy doesn't begin until the fertilized egg implants.
if you payed attention to the advert, it showed that the condom had split. i do agree you shouldnt have unprotected sex if you dont wish to be pregnant, but it's not always avoidable
That's why i included "And accept the possible consequences (pregnancy) that even come with using contraceptives". a condom has roughly a 4% failure rate. knowing this, the lovers should either refrain from having sex or have it but accept the consequences which occur when a condom breaks. using contraceptives doesnt justify using a morning after pill, i believe.
Also, the advert clearly ignores the father of the embryo. In reality, he should have his voice heard.
actually a condom works 99% of the time. Mixed with the pill it's 99.8 so F you! i'm assuming you're christian given your views, either that or you hate the idea of people getting some. Not all women are stupid. That and you're saying that the morning after pill shouldn't be used in cases of rape. Get a broader mind, Not everything is as linear as you seem to think.
I've kinda questioned sex education in schools to be honest (its better than adverts anyways). Previous generations rarely had these issues of unwanted pregnancys, and now that they are teaching it, the rates have increases. It's like "Now that you know how to do it... don't"
So a barely fertilized, unattached zygote is the same as a child now? Why don't we take it a step further and say that every time I whack off I'm committing a holocaust.
From the moment of conception it is a new, growing, potential human life. when the sperm and egg are apart, they r just cells.
the thing is, i DESPISE the thought of the possibility that one of my best friends could have been aborted in this fashion and flushed down the toilet by a morning after pill.
I mean, you do realize that God kills the majority of zygotes before a person even realizes they are pregnant, right? So I assume that means you think God is a baby killer.
God forbid anything even happen like that. i believe father does not have to know then. i'd understand why a woman would want to take a pill in that case. i would never condemn her, (even if she wasnt raped) but i still feel pro-life, because the child itself is innocent.
these r just my views, they're not to be taken as law or anythin
Ads like this are necessary. Nothing parents and governments say will stop kids from having sex. They will find a way to do it regardless. The more education, the less unwanted pregnancies. Hopefully this add will spark meaningful conversation between parents and kids. On a much much lighter note, I like the song choice- The Golden Dogs, a band from Canada... Go figure.
I don't object to it being advertised, but I do think the tone of the ad is wrong. The ad makes out that it's so easy to buy and a real quick fix when the truth is the opposite.
Totally shocking. I can't believe society has become so relaxed and trivialises the seriousness of using the morning after pill. It's like advertising to teenagers to be careless.
its your own choice weather u take this pill or not- but why are they pretednting like its not a big deal. your right, sazchristain, a teenager could look at that and thing- oh, thats funny and happy, and think nothing of taking the pill.
Whats wrong with that? Bit light hearted though, should be a bit more serious as it may make young girls use it as their only contraception. Overall I think its good to advertise it.
Glad this is finally being advertised, young adults need to be aware of the options available to them if an accident happens, though there's gonna be a huge moral issue raised by many people with outdated opinions.

"Previous generations rarely had these unwanted pregnancies" What universe are you living in? Unwanted pregnancies were the the standard before the advent of contraception in the 1060's. And with regards to the rights of the sperm donor to have his voice heard, where are you getting your facts from?
kairma 2 years ago
Perhaps I was wrong in the "unwanted pregnancies" part. And this guy isn't "donating" sperm with the intent of a child being concieved. The ad portrays him as oblivious to the fact that this girl is gonna take a morning after pill. He SHOULD have the right to know, and this ad is conveying otherwise. Altogether, I disagree with this ad being shown, because I'm pro-life.
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
How is the morning after pill considered a 'contraceptive' ? Surely if you take the pill your accepting that its possibly a bit too late to avoid conception!
me1td0wn366 2 years ago
These methods stop the implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine wall. They don't cause abortion because the pregnancy doesn't begin until the fertilized egg implants.
CardinalRatslinger 2 years ago 2
The overwhelming evidence shows that emergency contraceptive does not interfere with implantation, but suppresses ovulation.
tinyelvis10 2 years ago 2
There's still a life growing from the moment of fertilisation. It's very similar ro abortion because it's ending a potential human life.
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
There is no life growing, because a fertilized egg can't grow without support from the uterine wall.
CorianderCivar 2 years ago 3
Thats not true. By the time the fertilized egg has reached the uterus, it has divided into 100 cells. Therefore growth is taking place.
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
Conception typically happens 24 to 72 hours after insemination.
tinyelvis10 2 years ago
Who will be regulating this?
AntonyDell 2 years ago
Don't want to be pregnant? Don't have unprotected sex. And accept the possible consequences (pregnancy) that even come with using contraceptives.
This 'option' should be taught by parents and schools, not people who only want to fatten their wallets from the vulnerable in our society!
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
if you payed attention to the advert, it showed that the condom had split. i do agree you shouldnt have unprotected sex if you dont wish to be pregnant, but it's not always avoidable
xatticus10x 2 years ago 2
That's why i included "And accept the possible consequences (pregnancy) that even come with using contraceptives". a condom has roughly a 4% failure rate. knowing this, the lovers should either refrain from having sex or have it but accept the consequences which occur when a condom breaks. using contraceptives doesnt justify using a morning after pill, i believe.
Also, the advert clearly ignores the father of the embryo. In reality, he should have his voice heard.
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
actually a condom works 99% of the time. Mixed with the pill it's 99.8 so F you! i'm assuming you're christian given your views, either that or you hate the idea of people getting some. Not all women are stupid. That and you're saying that the morning after pill shouldn't be used in cases of rape. Get a broader mind, Not everything is as linear as you seem to think.
xatticus10x 2 years ago 10
But like it said, the condom split, which can happen.
And certainly from my local 'walk in clinic' these pills are free.
and in my secondary school/college they do teach be responsible, and even with that school education weve had about 2 teenage pregnancys.
rorrt 2 years ago
I've kinda questioned sex education in schools to be honest (its better than adverts anyways). Previous generations rarely had these issues of unwanted pregnancys, and now that they are teaching it, the rates have increases. It's like "Now that you know how to do it... don't"
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
no, id say odviously in the olden days unwanted pregnancys were less, compared today. but there were pregnancys out of wedlock, or unwanted ones.
education is the first step to stopping anything really.
rorrt 2 years ago
Yeah, let's go back to the olden days where unwanted babies were left on the hillside for death by exposure.
*rolls eyes*
Tetrsd 2 years ago 4
Nowadays, unwanted children should be put up for adoption. They have the right to life.
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
So a barely fertilized, unattached zygote is the same as a child now? Why don't we take it a step further and say that every time I whack off I'm committing a holocaust.
Tetrsd 2 years ago 3
From the moment of conception it is a new, growing, potential human life. when the sperm and egg are apart, they r just cells.
the thing is, i DESPISE the thought of the possibility that one of my best friends could have been aborted in this fashion and flushed down the toilet by a morning after pill.
ElementNeverDies 2 years ago
I mean, you do realize that God kills the majority of zygotes before a person even realizes they are pregnant, right? So I assume that means you think God is a baby killer.
Tetrsd 2 years ago 2
aaaaaahahahahahah
leonskate1994 2 years ago
I'm afraid that's entirely wrong. It happened just as much, only the outcome was usually an unwanted marraige as well.
MaserLaser 2 years ago
What if I get raped?
Sarahsaturn 2 years ago 2

Go figure.
bongomanstouch 2 years ago 3
My name is GOD and I support this ad !
Dfanatic1 2 years ago 2
I don't object to it being advertised, but I do think the tone of the ad is wrong. The ad makes out that it's so easy to buy and a real quick fix when the truth is the opposite.
MancLyns 2 years ago 2
Welcome to tele-advertising. EVERYTHING is made out to be quick and easy. NOTHING ever is. Contraceptives are no exceptions in this.

PMSL! The ad is dreadful and oversimplifed, but you're spot-on with that one!
TopTellyFan 2 years ago
Totally shocking. I can't believe society has become so relaxed and trivialises the seriousness of using the morning after pill. It's like advertising to teenagers to be careless.
sazchristian 2 years ago
its your own choice weather u take this pill or not- but why are they pretednting like its not a big deal. your right, sazchristain, a teenager could look at that and thing- oh, thats funny and happy, and think nothing of taking the pill.
kirgeek 2 years ago 3
I agree nicely done
MeghanChace 2 years ago 2
What? No comments from conservatives for me to attack. That's no fun.
I'd like to see ads like this on Faux LOL

nicely done
jerrinice 2 years ago
Whats wrong with that? Bit light hearted though, should be a bit more serious as it may make young girls use it as their only contraception. Overall I think its good to advertise it.

Britain has now shifted irreversibly to Ultra Liberalism. Its been coming for years... i think we've now arrived...

Finally letting young people know what their options are!
CallumLang 2 years ago 4
Glad this is finally being advertised, young adults need to be aware of the options available to them if an accident happens, though there's gonna be a huge moral issue raised by many people with outdated opinions.

Yep been there done that.
