I much prefer this ending, T3 was such a dissapointment and I havent even entertained 'Salvation', its almost like they were made for the sake of being made. T2 with this ending would've wrapped the story up nicely.

t3 was a shameless mess. It was a fun movie, but it didnt have the brains, imagination, or drive that the first two did. On its own, its an okay movie. Nothing compared to t2 (which i still hold as the best action film ever made). Salvation was nothing like I had hoped for. Though it was (once again) okay, and had several nods to t2, it could have been so much more. Making another movie after t2 is like trying to make a sequel to citizen kane. No matter what, it wont stand up to the original.

I really prefer this ending, but Cameron got it wrong. Being born in 1958, Michael Jackson would have been 39 on August 29th i997.

And yes, the sequels were just shamelss capitalisation on what should have been finished with T2.

Mario Kassar (the executive producer) didn't want this ending, because he wanted to make way for Terminator 3. James Cameron in the end couldn't argue with him. Talk about fair...

For me the story ended with T2; everything after that is a huge mess, and a disgrace to such successful films.

@TheBoomViper Well you can take it in 2 ways. You can say Terminator ended at 2 and the future never happened, or you can say its not over and continue, because when you think about it, if John is still, there has to be a future from which Kyle travels from so he can be born.

Cameron took it out becausse he thought if the Future is changeble then the battle is something that is to be fought continuesly.

Just watch T2 explanations for deleted scenes.

However if he had kept it like this then we would not have had theese terible sequels like Terminator 3 and and Sarra Connor Cronicles.

Do you know the rumors of him actually wanting to make a third film, he said that on the making of T2-3D, and that was a steapstone for another film.
