The friendship between Sonny and Robin is one of the best that GH has ever created. Many people have tried to destroy it and have failed, they are family. He promised Stone on his death bed that he would take care of Robin and he has said that robin's love is the last thing Stone gave him and treasures and honors that with his life. He vowed that his life would never affect Robin and he's kept that promise for 15 years now. A lot of the credit does go to Jason too, he helped Robin thru also.

This was after Lily (his wife) was killed in a car explosion meant for him. This was like 6 months after Stone died.
